Who Said It Was Gonna Be Easy?

I arrived just as the ceremony was starting, taking my seat on the front row, right in front of the stage. I was sat on the very left which was right where all the graduated students would pass by on their way back to their seats.

The alphabet of names dragged slowly by until finally Alex's name was called. It took all I had to resist from cheering loudly as he climbed the steps up to the stage, almost tripping on the long gown. He walked up to the podium and went through the generic congratulatory handshake and photograph, all whilst his eyes searched the crowd for mine. Finally he found me, blushing bright red and grinning at me. I watched him walk back off the stage. I was clapping the whole time and nearly crying with pride and happiness. Alex and I could finally be together properly. This was the beginning of our lives together.

"So its true then? You and Gaskarth?" The teacher next to me, Angela, leaned over to ask me quietly. I nodded.

"Jack! You could lose your job! Are you crazy?!" She whispered. I shrugged and stood up.

"Where are you going?!" She whispered.

"What's a graduation without a speech?" I smiled before rushing onto the stage and snatching the microphone out of a teachers hand.

"Hey! You can't do that!" She protested.

"Hey! Excuse me! Everyone? I have something to say! Excuse me!" I cleared my throat when everyone was looking at me.

"It is my great disappointment to announce that I am leaving. I haven't taught here long - 2/3 terms to be precise - but in that time, a lot has happened. Most of it to do with the person who has stolen my heart. Alexander William Gaskarth, I love you more than anything in the world and I can't wait to start our life together. Yes, I'm aware Alex is a student and I, a teacher and I'm aware I could lose my job for this, which is kinda fine because I'm leaving anyway, I could even not be allowed to work with children again but honestly I don't care. Alex, I love you more than words can say and you're definitely worth going through hell and back for" I watched as Alex suddenly ran so fast towards the stage that his gown made it look like he was flying. closer and closer he got, until suddenly he hit me, his arms and legs wrapping round me. I instinctively lifted him up, wrapping my arms around him securely. "I love you so much" he whispered, grinning widely. He then pressed his lips to mine. I forgot for a moment where I was and that everybody was watching us. After a few seconds there was suddenly a loud roar as what seemed like everybody in the room cheered. I broke the kiss to see Alex grinning at me and blushing. I put him down and took his hand, walking off the stage with him, handing the microphone back as we went.

"Where are we going?" Alex asked.

"Going finding a broom cupboard or something" I smirked as he blushed again.



Once we were out of the hall and in the corridors of the school, Alex turned to me.

"Wait we're genuinely going finding a broom cupboard?"

"Yup"

"Why?" his nose crinkled adorably in confusion.

"Well you don't wanna fuck against the lockers do you?"
