Who Said It Was Gonna Be Easy?

I was woken up by an alarm that wasn't mine. I recognised the song to be All The Small Things by Blink 182. Alex turned his alarm off with a small groan (which was really cute) before putting his arm back around me. I caught sight of some sunlight coming in through the window. Why was there sunlight at 10 o'clock at night? I grabbed my phone and went to unlock the screen. Nothing happened.

Everything suddenly clicked. My phone had died so the alarm hadn't gone off. Consequently, Alex had ended up staying the night and now it was time to be getting ready to leave and we were still lay cuddling.

"shit"

"what?" Alex asked me.

"you stayed the night"

"considering we're cuddling right now and your arms are stll wrapped around me, the fact that you said shit doesn't make sense"

"no, lex, it's not you, I promise. It's just school, y'know? If they find out..fuck, I could lose my job"

"why? I'm legal. Plus its not like we had sex or anything"

"but they're gonna think were lying. And yeah, I know but"

"but nothing, it's fine" Alex snuggled back into me.

"m'really tired.....an' I don't feel well" he murmured quietly. I lifted my head to take a look at him. His cheeks were flushed yet his skin was pale and looked slightly clammy.

"lex? You okay?" I asked him as I stroked his hair gently. There was no reply. He must have been exhausted. I carefully got up from half-under him, then felt his forehead. It was warmer than it should have been so I went into the kitchen to get the thermometer to properly measure his temperature. He had a fever. I made sure the blanket was tucked in before I went to go and get ready. I grabbed a pillow and my duvet from my bedroom and went back into the front room. I lifted alexs head and placed the pillow down.

"jack, wha' are you doin'?" he mumbled.

"making you more comfy. You're staying off today, ok? You have a temperature. I've left some medicinny sorta stuff on the kitchen worktop if you want it or need it. I've left my phone number written down here, next to the phone and there's drinks and food, whatever you want. If you can find it, you can have it, alright? You can watch tv or go on the xbox or whatever. I have netflix so you should be ok. Please call me if there's anything wrong or if you get worse. do you have any blades in your bag?" he nodded wearily in reply to my question.

"how many?"

"3"

"okay. You can go back to sleep now, ok? I'll be back later" he nodded and let his eyes close.

I opened his bag and spent a few minutes finding his blades. One of them had a bit of dried blood on. I put them in a bag with my razors and stuff that I'd taken out of the bathroom and kitchen. I grabbed my keys and my phone, hesitantly gave Alex a soft kiss on his forehead, then left.

I was worrying about Alex all day during my lessons so when he texted me during third period, I was really happy.

"your duvet and pillow smell nice" he said.

"oh yeah? What do they smell of? I've never noticed"

"you"

"me?"

"yeah, you. It's really nice"

"well I'm glad to hear it. How are you feeling?"

"shitty" this resulted in me laughing at his blunt reply. My class looked at me curiously.

"I want cuddles :(" another text came through.

"aww. Later, promise" I texted back, unable to stop the grin that appeared on my face.

"sir, you're acting really weird"

"how so?"

"youve spent the whole lesson texting and laughing and grinning like an idiot. Who are you talking to?"

"nobody"

"clearly somebody. Is it your girlfriend?" I shook my head.

"don't have a girlfriend"

"boyfriend?"

"I don't know. Not yet, I don't think. But I'd like him to be"

"I didn't know you were gay!" my whole class erupted into chatter.

"that's because it's not a big deal and because you never asked. If you'd have asked, I'd have told you. I'm like an open book. I won't keep anything from you guys"

"okay so who is it?"

"except that. I refuse to tell you unless we actually get together" I returned my attention to Alex.

"we can cuddle?"

"if you want to" I replied casually.

"yay!" He texted back.

"you know when you left?" Another text came through before I could reply.

"yeah"

"did you actually kiss me on the forehead or was I just having a hallucination?"

"how would you feel if I had have done?"

"so I was hallucinating. Dammit"

"no, no, you weren't. I just wanted to see how you felt about it before I told you the truth"

"it was really cute"

"so are you" I replied.

I got no reply for nearly an hour. I began to worry. I let my class have a free period then went outside to ring him. It rang three times before he picked up.

"h-hello?" I heard him sniffle as if he was crying.

"lex? Are you okay?"

"define okay" he said, then sniffled again. his voice was all shaky.

"Alex, what's wrong?"

"you're going to be disappointed in me" he said as he burst into tears.

"no, lex! Alright, um, I'm gonna tell my class to go to lunch then I'm gonna come home, okay? I'll be there as soon as I can"

"o-o-ok"

"I'll see you soon, lex" I said before hanging up. I went back into my classroom and grabbed my keys from my desk.

"okay, guys, you can go to lunch" I told my class before practically running out of the room and down to the car park. My mind was on overdrive, panicking about Alex.

When I got home about 10 minutes later, I went straight in and found Alex curled up in a tight ball, crying his eyes out.

this is probably going to be the last update for about a week because I go back to school in a couple of days and I've done no work at all over the break so I still have shitloads to do and I'm gonna be pretty busy. sigh. (Unless I use this to procrastinate and not do any work (which is exactly what I'm doing right now) in which case you'll probably get another update soon)


so yeah look out for another update because I'm a lazy shit and I don't like doing work.




does anyone even read these? have you all just stopped reading after "WOO JALEX"? I could probably talk about anything right now. *whispers* I ship baradine more than I ship taylex GASP
