Who Said It Was Gonna Be Easy?

We broke apart and jack rested his forehead on mine, our body's still pressed together.

"wow" I murmured.

"yeah..wow" he murmured back.

"I really missed you, baby. I'm so sorry for everything" he added softly, letting go of my hands and throwing his arms around me, squeezing me tight. I nestled my face into his chest, seeking out his heartbeat and laying my head against it, listening to the rhythm of it beating.

"I'm sorry I ignored you..I didn't enjoy it at all, you know that, right?"

"mhmm..I could tell but I knew if I'd have approached you it would have made it worse. I didn't enjoy it either, I hated it and I didnt want it to carry on" he kissed the top of my head gently.

"anyway, we should probably start this date before it gets too dark" he pulled away from me after a couple of minutes of our embrace. I nodded and he stepped towards the boat, holding it steady and helping me in. He then untied it from a peg in the ground, hopping in and using one of the short oars to push us out.

"we're not going too far out because theres this little area where there's barely a tide so we won't really drift, unless you go further out" he told me.


"how come you know about this place anyway?"

"I used to come here as a child. Me, my sister and my cousins used to come out here and play. We used to live closer so it was like our local play area"

"did you used to get along with your sister?"

"yeah, we used to be really close. People who'd only just met us thought we were twins because we were that close we could finish each others sentences and stuff. She wasn't only my sister, she was my best friend. I swear..it was like I'd lost two people in that crash, not just one. I reckon you'd have really gotten along with her if she was still alive. I've never met anyone who understood me as much as she did"

"I'll work on it though, trust me"

"so..I've told you about my sister..will you tell me about your family?"

"nu-uh. Not yet"

"will you ever tell me, lex?"

"mhmm..someday"

"I can work with that. So...new friends, huh? They seem nice"

"yeah, they really are" jack stopped rowing and put the oar in the boat.

"what're their names? Tell me about them"

"well..there's Tay, she's the one with the brown hair" I started to tell him about each of them as he opened up the cardboard box. Inside the box, he had some tubs and he got them all out, nodding and making little noises to show me he was listening. I'd just finished telling him about vic when he looked up at me and raise one eyebrow.

"what?"

"you too seem really close. Does he like you?"

"n-no, I don't think so, we're just friends"

"he sounds too interested. I'm going to be keeping an eye on him. If he tries anything with you, I swear to god I'm going to kill him. He's not even going to get any time to explain himself"



"jack..I'm not going to cheat on you with vic. I don't like him like that. Sure, he's hot but I like you, not him. Were just friends and that's not going to change"

"don't call him hot. You're mine. Mine, not his. If you're calling anybody hot it should be me"

"are you jealous?" I asked with a grin.

"yes. And I have good reason to be, he's your age and he's hot and you get on really well with him. It'd be so easy for you guys to date"

"you're forgetting something"

"what?"

"I don't like him"

"but you could. I just don't want to lose you, lex"

"mhmm..I know. Can we stop talking about vic now? We're supposed to be on a date"

"right you are" he grinned and moved to sit next to me.

"I thought we could just come out here in the boat and watch the moon come out and eat some stuff I made for us"

"you're really sweet" I put my arm around his waist and shifted closer to him.

"so are chocolate covered strawberries..want one?"

"I'd rather have you"

"how about..me AND a chocolate covered strawberry?"

"deal!" I laughed and took a bite of the strawberry he held up to my mouth. We stayed on the boat, chatting and feeding each other the little treats that jack had made (there were chocolate covered strawberries, little cookies, cupcakes with love hearts iced onto them and two gingerbread men decorated to look like me and jack).


"you're amazing. Did I ever tell you that?" I kissed his shoulder softly.

"you have. That reminds me of something" he said as moved back to his previous seat. He grabbed the oars to begin rowing us back to shore. The moon had come out and it was shining brightly, glimmering on the tiny ripples of the water.


I couldn't help but watch jack as he rowed. His astonishing beauty never failed to amaze me. He looked up and caught my eye.

"what are you staring at?"

"you" I answered honestly.

"creep" he grinned.

"I'm not a creep, you just have a nice face" I grinned back, loving hearing him chuckle.

ITS BEEN SO LONG SINCE I UPDATED AND I'M SO SORRY OMFG I don't even really have an excuse, I've been writing a lot but just haven't had the time to update so yeah..sorry:( bUT I HOPE YOU FORGIVE ME BECAUSE (HOPEFULLY) CUTENESS?????? also, I entered the unknown writers contest and, although I doubt I'll win because there are some aMAZING entries, you can read it here if you wanna:)
