Alex

I froze on the spot, not moving, not reacting. Just standing there in complete shock. What the flip was happening? Well, Jack was kissing me, that's what was happening. And I didn't know what to do.

He had one hand gently on my hips, and the other had fallen from the back of my head to the side of my neck meaning now I wasn't forced to keep my lips on his, so I pulled away, looking at him now in a whole different light.

"Uh, w-what was that?" I stuttered out.

"Alex-"

"No, no, no. Th-that can't happen, you're a guy, I'm a guy... Do you have any idea what my parents would say?" Oh God, my parents.

I stepped back, further away from Jack, his touch disappearing completely now, and to be completely honest; I instantly missed it. No, don't be stupid, Alex, this is wrong.
I sat back down on my own swing, kicking the empty cigarette boxes littered on the ground.

"Live a little, Lex," Jack snapped, seeming annoyed.

"What?" I retorted, stamping on a box, venting out whatever was inside me.

"I don't get what the big fucking deal is! You don't have to live by your parents rules..."

"Yeah, because that worked so well for you!" As soon as it left my mouth, I clamped my hand over it and my eyes widened. "Jack, I didn't mean it-"

"Yes you fucking did." He spat, getting to his feet and walking away from the swings.

He walked to the center of the park, towards the blue metal tube slide, and I went after him, wanting to aplogise. I didn't know how, or where to start, but once I caught up to him and grabbed him by the wrist, I hugged him. Tight. Inhaling his scent for just a moment before he pushed me away.

"Lex, don't. Please."

"I didn't mean it, honest." I mumbled, searching his eyes for a sign that said he hadn't given up on everything, but it wasn't there. " I just-"

"Just what? I disgust you, I get it!"

"I'm scared Jack! Okay, I'm scared..."

"Of what?" He scoffed.

"Everything! This! Just, all of it!" I admitted, waving my arms about as it would emphasize my words. "A week ago, everything was fine, and then you come along a-and flip everything on it's head! I like spending time with you, you straightening my hair, heck, even when we argue! It still gives me this stupid smile that I can't seem to shake, and then the Brendon thing... Yeah okay, I admit it, I was jealous! But that back there," I gestured towards the swings, "freaked me out big time, it's all new territory... But sometimes, you have to do the things that scare you most, right?"

Looking at Jack, in that moment, I felt happy. I felt a swarm of butterflies rush throughtout my entire body. And the thing that made it better? The goofy grin that graced Jack's face as he wrapped his arms around me, all snug and warm.

I had to admit, this was weird as anything, it went completely against everything I was raised to believe, and it would take a while for me to get used to it, but Jack's arms just felt right embracing me.

I could feel him smiling against the top of my head before kissing it. "C'mon Princess, let's get you home, it's getting late."

"What about you?" I asked, leaning back so that we were still hugging but our faces only inches apart.

"I'll head back to Rian's," he smiled kissing my nose, "Hey, wanna hold my hand?" He winked.

I batted his hand away, sticking my tongue out and saying sarcastically, "ew, that's so gay!"
