Do it for me

I had a decent little party with my friends and mom. After cake, I opened the presents everyone else gave me. Alex got made me a little mix CD of songs he thought I would like, Rian gave me a gift card to Starbucks, Bethany gave me a little birthday card, and Caitlyn gave me a visa gift card to the mall, begging me to go shopping with her soon. Zack had yet to give me anything, so I just thought he didn’t get something for me.

I was standing with Caitlyn, finishing up my piece of cake as she spoke about what we could shop for. I just pretended to listen, really. I looked up to see Zack smiling at me.

I smiled and waved.” Hey, Zack.”

He glanced at me and gestured towards my back yard. ”Can I give you your present?” He gave me a tiny smile.

I nodded and walked towards the back door with him, sliding it open.” You didn’t have to get me anything, Zack.”

He grinned and shrugged, closing the door after we got outside. “ I wanted to.”

I nodded and looked up at him, stuffing my hands in my pockets.

He smiled and pulled two tickets out of his pocket. “ I uh.. I remember when I met you, I gave you my Blink 182 CD.. So I thought we could go to the concert.” He smiled.

I looked at the tickets and then at him, smiling.” Zack..” I muttered.

He smiled.” You don’t have too.. I just thought it could be a fun thing to do as friends.”

I looked at him and nodded.” Of course we can go, Zack..” I grinned at him and held onto the tickets.

He smiled at me. “It’s in two months, so we have a little wait.”

I nodded and smiled at him, hugging him gently.” Thank you, Zack.”

He smiled and hugged me back.” Happy birthday, Delilah.” He muttered in my ear.

After everyone left, I set all my presents inside my closet. I would clean them up a little later. My mom said goodnight and went off to bed. I slipped on my pajama pants and a hoodie, biting my lip softly. I laid on my bed and pulled the blanket up, sighing as I stared at the ceiling. The day was pretty perfect. My mom was there, my friends were there, Zack got me tickets to my favorite band. But I still felt like I was missing something.

I heard a knock on my window and jumped, sitting up. I bit my lip and walked over, looking out the window. “Uh..Jack?”

I saw him grin and wave to me.

I sighed and opened my window, helping him climb in.” What are you doing here? And how did you even get on my roof?”

He shrugged.” That’s not important. I just.. I’m sorry.” He muttered.

I looked at him.” You apologized forever ago. I’m fine.. You’re the one who isn’t.”

He frowned and looked at me.” Delilah, I mean about not coming to your little party.” He muttered.” I had to go up to see my family, and then by the time I got back, Zack told me it was too late to come. I swear I was going to come.” He frowned.

I looked at him and sighed.” It’s okay, Jack..”

Jack grinned and kissed my forehead.” I brought your present though.” He handed me a birthday card and smiled.

I opened the envelope and read it, reading a small note he wrote. I glanced at him, smiling.” Thanks, Jack.”

Jack frowned.” You think that’s all? No no.” He smiled and pulled a piece of paper out of his pocket.” I ordered this for you, but it didn’t come it yet. But I know you always mention wanting to play my guitar, so I bought you your own.”

I looked down at the paper with a picture of a guitar and grinned. I hugged him tightly and kissed his cheek.” Thank you.. It’s perfect.” I grinned.

He smiled and nodded. “I can also give you lessons.” He looked at me.

I smiled and nodded.” I’d love that.” I kissed his lips softly and smiled. “ Lay with me?”

He nodded and took his shoes off, laying in my bed.

I laid on the other side, wrapping my arms around him, my head on his chest. “ Goodnight, Jack.”

Jack smiled. “Happy birthday.” He kissed my forehead and pulled the blankets onto our bodies, closing his eyes.

I finally had the perfect birthday.
