My Heart Beats to the Limit When I'm With You

Chapter Seven

"So what are you doing after your interview?" He asked me.

I shrugged, "I don't know. What do you want to do?"

"I'm actually meeting my parents for lunch, and I was wondering if you would come?" He smiled at me.

"Your parents? I don't know, Jack," I bit my lip nervously. His smile turned to a frown so I added, "It's just, what if they don't like me?"

"That's what you're worried about?" He chuckled, "Lauren, they will love you."

"How can you be so sure?"

"Listen," He took both of my hands in his own, "You're nice, you're funny, you're smart, and you make me happy, so unless you show up naked, they have no reason not to like you. Can't say that I would be complaining if you were naked, though," He smirked.

"You're a dork," I poked his shoulder.

"Nu-uh," He said in a child-like voice, "I'm like the Apollo of band members! You said so yourself!"

"That you are," I glanced behind him and Seth was pointing at his imaginary watch with an annoyed look on his face. I kissed Jack one last time, "I'll see you when I get out!"

"Sorry Seth!" I said to him.

"Just get in there! Jon is already in there!" He ushered me in.

"Hey, I'm so sorry I'm late!" I apologized to the interviewer, a young girl with blonde hair, "I kind of lost track of time."

She smiled at me, but it seemed kind of fake, "No worries! Let's get started!" She gestured to the camera dude to start filming, "Hey guys! I'm here with Jon Bailey and Lauren Wright of Sweet Aftermath!" She smiled, "My first question is, how are you liking tour so far?"

"It's amazing!" I said, "Seeing and hearing people sing along to songs that we wrote, it's an amazing feeling."

Jon nodded, "People have came up to us after shows, telling us how great we did, and how much they love us. It's like, 'wow! Is this real life? I was in there place a couple of years ago!'"

"Why did you guys decide to start a band?" She asked.

"Austin and I were hanging out one day, and I don't remember what brought it on, but we started talking about how we wanted to make a difference, and since we both loved music, and he could sing and I could play bass, we decided to start a band. We held auditions for a drummer and a guitar player, and that's where Lauren and Brian came into play," Jon explained.

"Yeah I remember my cousin telling me that her friend's band needed a guitarist and that I should try out. I wasn't going to go, but I don't know I had a good feeling about it. so I went and now here I am!" I smiled, "And I knew that Brian had said one time that he played the drums, so I asked him to come try out and he did."

"Speaking of inspiration, who have been your biggest inspirations?"

"I think our biggest are probably Paramore and All Time Low," I replied.

"All Time Low? It must be great to be on tour with one of the bands that inspire you the most!" She smiled, "Okay I'm going to ask you questions from fans now. This question is for all of you: What is your favorite song to perform?"

"Sad Sacks of Harmony, no doubt!" Jon replied, "It's fun to play, and it's a crowd favorite."

"Mine is probably Happy Wounds. I love the message it sends."

"I love both of those!" She said enthusiastically. Awesome! "Have you guys made friends with the other bands this tour? Who are your closest friends from the other bands?"

"Yeah, All Time Low and We Are the in Crowd are great people!" Jon said, "I'm probably closer with Rian than I am with the others, though."

"Everyone has been great, but I would say that I've become the closest to Tay and Jack, though," I smiled.

"Speaking of Jack, Lauren, I heard rumors on twitter that you and him were dating," She plastered on a fake smile, "Is that true?"

"Um," I thought about how to answer that. We never really talked about going public, "We're very close."

She rolled her eyes, "But are you dating? If not, I might have to make my move on him." She smirked at me.

I really want to smack that stupid smirk off of her face. Luckily Jon jumped in, "I'm pretty sure your job here isn't to try and hook up with random guys."

She glared at both of us, "Right. Next question."
---

Jack and I left to meet his parents shortly after that. Not gonna lie, I'm pretty nervous. I've never been good with first impressions. We were there before I knew it.

"Hey mom, I'd like you to meet my lovely girlfriend Lauren," Jack said with a cute grin on his face.

"Hey Mrs. Barakat! It's so nice to meet you!" I smiled and held out my hand.

"The first thing you need to know about this family is that we don't shake hands. We hug," His mother smiled and pulled me into a hug, "It's nice to finally meet you! Jack has told me so much about you."

"Yeah, yeah," Jack blushed, "Where is dad?"

"Your father got called in to work," She replied, "But he's hoping to make it out to the show tonight."

We sat down to eat shortly after that. I actually wasn't as nervous as I thought I would be. Joyce and I got to know each other a little better. She is telling me funny stories right now about Jack from when he was younger, much to his dismay.

"One night Bassam and I were watching a movie, and a six year old Jack came flopping into the living room like a walrus and said 'mom! dad! I am the walrus! koo-koo-ka-chu!' It was so funny!" She chuckled.

"Aww! That's adorable!" I smiled, "He still does stuff like that sometimes," I joked.

"I'm sure she would love to hear about it, but we have to go now," Jack blushed, "You have sound check soon."

"You'll have to tell me some of these stories tonight at the show! It was great meeting you, Lauren!" She hugged me.

"It was great meeting you, too, Mrs. Barakat," I smiled and hugged her back.

"Call me Joyce!" She smiled at me. She and Jack said their goodbyes, and we were on our way back.

"Well that was fun!" Jack chuckled.

"It was! Your mom is so cool! By the way, sorry we embarrassed you back there," I replied.

"No it's cool! I'm glad you and my mom hit it off," He smiled down at me, "I think you're one of the only girls my mom has ever liked."

"Well I'm glad," I smiled, "I was scared that she would hate me."

He rolled his eyes and chuckled, "I told you they wouldn't."
