Chapter 8

Delilah~~

"Come on! Tell me what's wrong." Sami begged for the fifth time.

"Why do you want to know?" I asked, getting a bit frustrated.

"Because! You seem.. off. I don't know! You were never like this before the tour!" Sam said quite loudly.

"Is it illegal to not feel okay!? Is it illegal that I don't tell you!?" I asked, my anger rising.

"No! I just want to know what's wrong!" She yelled.

"There's nothing wrong! I'm fine!" I said angrily. Sam just glared at me before speaking.

"I want to help you, alright. Not fight you." She said calmly.

"Help? You think I need help!?" I yelled.

"Woah woah woah ladies, calm down." An all too familiar voice said behind me. I turned around and my stomach erupted into butterflies at the sight. Alex was standing there, a lopsided grin on his face. Sami huffed and crossed her arms.

"What's up?" Alex asked, taking a a few steps towards me."

"There's nothing wrong, Alexander!" I said, my anger flaring up just a little more.

"I never said there was anything wrong. I just want to know what's up." He said coolly before sitting down on the couch.

"Well, maybe if you HADN'T WALKED IN ON SOMETHING JUST A LITTLE PRIVATE!" Sam yelled.

"Samantha!" I said. She shot her head towards me at the use of her full name and glared daggers at me.

"What." She said harshly.

"This... this is not private, alright. You want me to say it!? Cause I'll gladly say it! These past few weeks have been just a little tough." I said.

"Say it." She growled.

"Daulton and I are no longer together.. and-"

"Are you serious?"

"Let me finish. And.. I.. I have a thing for Alex." I said, avoiding his gaze entirely. Sam looked between Alex and I, wide eyed.

"I.. have.. nothing to er say.." Alex said as he stood up.

"SIT!" I yelled, and he did just that.

"O-Okay." He said nervously. My gaze finally met his and my cheeks heated up instantly.

"You like... him?" Sam asked. Not once breaking the eye contact, I nodded, and a smile erupted onto Alex's face.

"D-Do you like her back?" Sami asked Alex.

"Yeah. I do. That's why I asked her out last week.. but she said.. no." He said, eyes never leaving mine.

"Oh just kiss her!" I heard a male voice yell. I could tell it was Jack, and Alex smiled as he stood up and inched forward slowly. Except, I backed up. Into a wall. But not just any wall, a Jack Barakat wall. He pushed me towards Alex who caught me and tried to kiss me, but I ducked and hit the floor, crawling under his legs and hoisting myself up and into a run. I ran off the bus with tears in my eyes, not looking back once as Sam started yelling. Something hard hit my left side and I went crashing to the ground, whatever it was landing on top of me.

"GET OFF!" I screamed as I pushed whatever or whoever it was off of me. I got up once more and continued running, but I didn't make it very far, because whoever it was grabbed a hold of my ankle.

"LET GO OF ME!" I yelled as I shook my ankle out of their grip. I got up once more and sprinted away as fast as I could. I kept running until I didn't know where I was and tears were pouring out of my eyes. I panted as I pushed myself up into an abandoned tree house, sitting in one of the corners as I cried and tried to catch my breath. I could hear yelling far in the distance as I wiped my eyes on my sleeves.

"Hey, are you okay?" A soft voice asked. I jumped and looked over, seeing a little girl no older than eight years old clambering into the tree house.

"No, I'm not... Didn't your mom tell you not to talk to strangers?" I asked as I wiped under my eyes once more.

"Oh, my mommy is gone. She went on vacation." The little girl said with a smile.

"Oh, where to?" I asked.

"She went on a vacation to find God, to tell him thank you. She'll be back soon, I just know it." She said. More tears ran down my cheeks as I realized that this little girl's mother was never coming back.

"W-When did she leave?" I asked, my voice wavering.

"About two years ago. She said she needed a vacation to get away from the world as I looked at her arm, looking at the marks God had given her." The girl said.

"Oh.."

"She said that God had given her the marks to let her know that she could leave for her vacation whenever she felt like it. I'm not mad though, I hope she's having a good time with God." She said, making more tears trickle out of my eyes. I ignored the noise that was getting louder outside the tree house as the little girl looked at me, a sweet smile on her face.

"Delilah.. Oh God I found you!" Alex said as he entered. I backed away from him and he stopped in his tracks. I don't know why i was acting like this even though I like him so much.

"Hi! I'm Beth. What's your name?" The girl asked.

"I'm Alex. It's very nice to meet you Beth." Alex said sweetly.

"Delilah.. you need to come with me." Alex said.

"No I don't." I said.

"Yes you do. Austin is waiting for you. He's not happy." Alex said I sighed as I followed Alex down the ladder, Beth following us. I gave her a hug before she skipped away and followed Alex back to the buses.
