Chapter 7

Delilah~~

After I got ready, I exited the bathroom and left the bus. I found Vinny and rushed over to him.

"Hey.. could you uh lend me an All Time Low CD?" I asked.

"You can have one. Which one do you want?"

"The one with Remembering Sunday on it." I said.

"Oh! Okay. One minute." He said as he held up a finger. I nodded and he ran to their trailer, opening it and rummaging about until he pulled a CD out. He ran back over to me and handed me So Wrong, It's Right.

"Thanks Vinny." I said with a smile.

"No problem. Watcha need it for?" he asked.

"Alex asked me to sing with him on Remembering Sunday... so I'm gonna listen to the song and learn my part." I said.

"Sweet. Take care, I'll see you later."

"Alright. Bye!" I said. I waved as I walked back to my bus. Once I entered the bus, I took the plastic off the CD and popped it into the built in stereo. I surfed through the songs until I got to Remembering Sunday. I listened and listened until Alex's part ended. I sang along to the lyrics while looking at the lyric booklet.

"You'll do amazing.. by the way." Someone said to my left. I looked up and a smile melted onto my face as I saw Alex standing there.

"I'm sure you'll do better.." I said as I restarted the song.

"That's a pretty tough thing to decide." He said as he approached me.

"I'm sure it is." I said as I continued to sing along to my part. I looked at Alex and saw a smile spread across his lips as I stopped singing.

"You catch on fast." He said after my fourth time singing the part. I paused the CD and turned to him.

"I have a tendency to learn lyrics really fast... anyway, I think i have it down." I said as I tucked my purple hair behind my ear. I looked down at my lap with a sigh.

"Hey.. what's wrong?" Alex asked as he lifted my chin with his fingers.

"I just.. I don't know. That song was so beautiful.. and.. I don't know." I said.

"Is something bothering you?" Alex asked.

"I guess it's just this breakup.. I mean I'm not used to being single. I have pretty much no one to talk to." I said.

"You have me. You can talk to me anytime you want." He said.

"Yeah.."

"Do you.. perhaps want to get some coffee with me sometime?" Alex said, nervousness in his voice. I smiled slightly before answering.

"You're sweet, Alex.. but I'm not sure. I think I just need a little space for a bit. I'm sorry." I said. I looked Alex in the eyes and his face fell. He was no longer smiling. He swallowed before nodding slightly.

"Okay... I-I'll see you later." He said, his voice cracking. He stood up and left, leaving me to feel bad.

Alex--

I can't believe she rejected me, but I get it. I get that she needs some space right now, but I really like her, more than just a friend. I punched the side of my bus before walking in and slumping onto the couch. Jack sat next to me and looked at me.

"What's up?" He asked.

"She rejected me. Fuck, Jack! Why'd you tell me to ask her out!?" I almost yelled.

"Because it's obvious that you like her. She doesn't have to say yes to every question you ask her! It's not like in your dreams, alright?" Jack said.

"It would be nice if she said yes though." I grumbled.

"Look," Jack said as he placed a hand on my shoulder, "just wait a few more weeks and she'll come round."

"I guess.."

"Lighten up! It's not the end of the world. Come on, they're probably heading over to go play their set. We can watch if that'll make you feel better." Jack said. I nodded and stood up, following Jack into the venue. When we reached side stage, Grim Winter was already playing. A small smile made its way onto my lips as I watched Delilah put all her emotion into her voice, making it absolutely beautiful. She looked over and connected her gaze to mine. Her voice faltered and I made a heart with my hands. She looked away and continued singing, leaving a stupid grin on my face.

After their set, Delilah bid goodbye and ran offstage with her bandmates. She ran up to me and gave me a smile, which I returned.

"Go play a great show." She said before walking over to Mitch. I took my guitar from Danny and I ran out after Jack.

"Hello! We're All Time low!" I said into the mic. The crowd cheered and I smiled wide.

"This first song is called No Idea!" I said. The crowd cheered louder as I started to play.

A bunch of songs later, Danny ran out and I traded my guitar for an acoustic.

"We're gonna slow it down for a bit." I said as I sat down on the stool. The crowd cheered and I strummed a few notes.

"This song is called Remembering Sunday." I said. I started playing.

"He woke up from dreaming and put on his shoes
Started making his way past two in the morning
He hasn't been sober for days.

"Leaning now into the breeze
Remembering Sunday, he falls to his knees
They had breakfast together
But two eggs don't last like the feeling of what he needs

"Now this place seems familiar to him
She pulled on his hand with a devilish grin
She led him upstairs, she led him upstairs
Left him dying to get in

"Forgive me, I'm trying to find
My calling, I'm calling at night
I don't mean to be a bother,
But have you seen this girl?
She's been running through my dreams
And it's driving me crazy, it seems
I'm gonna ask her to marry me

"Even though she doesn't believe in love
He's determined to call her bluff
Who could deny these butterflies?
They're filling his gut

" Waking the neighbors, unfamiliar faces
He pleads though he tries
But he's only denied
Now he's dying to get inside

"Forgive me, I'm trying to find
My calling, I'm calling at night
I don't mean to be a bother,
But have you seen this girl?
She's been running through my dreams
And it's driving me crazy, it seems
I'm gonna ask her to marry me."

I looked over at Delilah as I sang the next verse and she came walking out, making the crowd scream.

" The neighbors said she moved away
Funny how it rained, all day
I didn't think much of it then
But it's starting to all make sense
Oh, I can see now that all of these clouds
Are following me in desperate endeavor
To find my whoever, wherever she may be."

I finished, and then Delilah started singing, taking my breath away as I played.

" I'm not coming back
I've done something so terrible
I'm terrified to speak but you'd expect that from me
I'm mixed up, I'll be blunt, now the rain is just
Washing you out of my hair and out of my mind
Keeping an eye on the world,
From so many thousands of feet off the ground, I'm over you now
I'm at home in the clouds, and towering over your head."

"Well I guess I'll go home now..
I guess I'll go home now
I guess I'll go home now
I guess I'll go home.."

The crowd cheered and I looked at Delilah. She was smiling like crazy.

"Give it up for Delilah Gray, everybody. Good job." I said into the mic. She smiled even wider and blushed. She kissed my cheek before walking offstage, taking me totally by surprise.

"This next song is from our album Nothing Personal...."

--

"Gosh that was awesome!" Jack cheered as we entered the bus.

"Indeed it was." I said.

"You and Delilah, man. She's something special." Jack said. A faint blush painted my cheeks as Rian and Zack looked at me oddly.

"We're not dating, Jack." I said. He only smiled at me.

Delilah~~

Singing onstage with Alex was amazing. I was currently laying in my bunk, slowly drifting off and thinking about earlier. I was tired as hell, but I couldn't get Alex off my mind. Was it fair to say that I like him?
