For Baltimore

"What the fuck were you thinking!?" Austin yelled, not caring that we had quite the audience.

"I DON'T KNOW!" I yelled back for the second time, tears leaving my eyes at a rapid pace. I heard quick footsteps behind me and the owner stopped and tapped me on the shoulder. I turned around whilst wiping my tears away. It was Noah.

"Oh God.. okay.." He said. I was quite confused as he took a deep breath.

"There's no good way to say this.. but.. um.. your mom called me up crying because she couldn't reach you and um.." Noah said, now scratching the back of his neck nervously as tears welled up in his eyes.

"Your dad's dead." He said quietly. Everyone fell silent and I just stared at him as tears fell down my cheeks.

"No." I whispered, and I fell to my knees, taking ragged breaths as I cried. I covered my face with my hands and gasped for breath as someone grabbed my arm and pulled me up and into their arms. Whoever it was picked me up and walked up some stairs, most likely walking into a bus. After a few more minutes, I was set down on something soft, probably a couch. I opened my eyes and looked up, meeting Alex's gaze. I pulled him down onto the couch and wrapped my arms around his neck. He rocked us back and forth and he comforted me as I cried for quite some time.

"Here.. drink this." Alex said as he handed me a mug.

"What is it?" I asked.

"Hot chocolate. Hopefully it'll calm you down a bit." He said softly. I brought the mug up to my lips and took a sip of the warm liquid, savoring the flavor. I closed my eyes and opened them after taking a deep breath.

"Better?" He asked.

"Hopefully." I said. Alex smiled softly and sat down next to me. I set the mug down on the table and leaned into Alex's side. He pulled me closer and kissed the top of my head.

"You're amazing." He whispered.

"If I'm amazing, you're wonderful." I said. Alex turned me to face him and he gently pressed his lips to mine. I kissed back almost immediately as butterflies erupted in my stomach. He pulled me onto his lap and I pulled away, catching my breath as Alex rested his forehead upon mine. A smile broke out on my lips for the first time today, all because of Alex. He truly was wonderful.
