Trigger warning for hospitals I guess.

Jack POV

"From: Unknown number
Say goodbye to Alex. No life together it seems."

Panic rose from the depths of my stomach, paralyzing me. I was feeling sick to the stomach and cold. But I forced myself to react.

“Alex, I just got a text and it seems you are in danger,” I explained quickly, forcing myself to sound somewhat controlled. He looked at me with a look of confusion.

“What the fuck, Jack? Have you gone insane?” he replied.

“Alex, this is serious. I suspect that someone will attack when we leave the car. We need to be prepared. I want you to leave the car with me but we will run into the chapel. I will cover you as well as possible but it will be difficult. Just run as fast as you can,” I said quietly and hastily.

“Jack, I don’t understand but I will do as you said. In case I do get hurt, I want you to know that I love you with all my heart and I always will,” he gave back.

“I love you too, Lex and I won’t ever st-“ I was cut short by the car coming to a hold, both of us falling into the seatbelts. I unbuckled mine, trembling. I took Alex’s hand and gave it a squeeze before opening the door. We got our legs out and set them to the ground, checking our surroundings. Nothing in plain sight.

“Now!” I hissed. We ran as fast as we could and I was confident that we would make it when about 9 feet before the door which was wide open, Alex stumbled. He struggled to continue running and when I panic-riddenly looked back, he was already falling. Everything was in slow-motion. Someone masked ran away, a broken bottle falling to the ground.

“ALEX!”

I stopped in my tracks and ran back. He was lying on the ground, bleeding from the head. I kneeled down beside him, screaming for an ambulance. I shook him and lightly slapped his cheek, repeatedly calling out his name. No reaction. I checked, he was breathing and had a proper pulse yet he was unconscious.

I didn’t know what to do anymore so I broke down sobbing. A siren wailed in the distance. Paramedics came running. They checked him and I couldn’t believe my eyes when he opened his eyes. I wanted to hug him and kiss him but I didn’t dare with all the paramedics around him.
They told me he seemed okay, just a little wound from the glass and maybe a concussion but from what they could feel, nothing was broken. I was allowed to ride next to him in the car, holding his hand while he looked at me.

“Jack, will I be okay?” he asked quietly.

“Yes, little mushroom.”

At the hospital he was x-rayed and stitched up. He was told he could leave but he should not do too much. We had to give a short protocol on the attack and were told that the police would investigate. When we asked about the wedding, looking very worried, the doctor smiled and said it’d be okay. We called our mums and they said they were ready for the small ceremony anytime and we still had lots of time left before the big party anyways. So we got a taxi to the chapel.

Inside, it was beautiful. My sister May had decorated it and I absolutely loved it, white roses mixed with red roses and beautiful grasses. Alex was awaiting me in front of the altar in a chair so he wouldn’t have to move and stand too much.

The bridal march by Mendelssohn began to play. I walked down the aisle, my mum holding my arm. I felt incredibly happy and I managed not to trip over my own feet. I looked at Alex, he looked hot and cute at the same time in his black suit and his tie. His head was bandaged but that didn’t keep him from looking so adorable I’d have loved to just run up to him and hug him hard. I took a deep breath, enjoying the scent of the roses. And then, I was already up front.

Mr Sullivan did the whole stuff before the actual big question and I could feel my heartbeat fastening. The priest turned towards me.

“Jack Bassam Barakat, do you want to take Alexander William Gaskarth as your lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do you part?”

I looked at Alex.

“I do.”

“Alexander William Gaskarth, do you want to take Jack Bassam Barakat as your lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do you part?”

He looked me deep in the eyes.

“I do.”

We exchanged our rings, saying the ring exchange sentences.

“Then by the power invested in me by the state of Maryland I pronounce you husbands. You may now kiss the groom.”

I stepped closer to my husband, bent down and carefully cupped his face. I whispered that I loved him before pressing a gentle kiss to his perfect lips. We kissed for a while and when we finally broke off, it was very silent. We looked around and well, everyone was staring. They broke into a slow applause.

We said goodbye to Mr Sullivan and walked down the aisle again, me holding someone’s arm again. We got into a special car outside and off we were to the big party.
