Time lapse 4 months
Alex POV

Snow! I would never get used to the specific smell of winter but it wasn’t bad. The thick, cold flakes were falling from the sky; I tried to catch them on my tongue, distracted from holding the groceries. And so I ran into a pole and dropped one of the plastic bags, various packages rolling around. I groaned and picked everything up, holding my throbbing forehead.

At home which was now mine and Jack’s place since he had moved in with me a month ago, I was a bit confused by him; he was hastily hiding something in a drawer.

“Alex, you already there? I thought you would be out for some more!” he said breathlessly. I cocked my eyebrow.

“Jack, what are you on about? You have been acting weird for weeks now!” An awful thought shot through me. Was he cheating on me? Tears shot in my eyes. Before I knew it, I was crying. “Are you cheating on me?” I asked bluntly. Jack turned pale.

“Alex, what are you thinking of me? I would never cheat on you!" he was silent for a bit before adding, "It is a surprise I am working on for you,” blushing a bit at the last part. I looked at him, tears caught in my lashes.
“Are you sure?”

“One hundred percent super-sure. I love you and nobody else,” he whispered, looking me in the eyes and kissing me softly after.

“I love you,” I replied.

“I love you more. And now get to the kitchen and sit down because I’m gonna make you a hot chocolate! You are all freezy from outside!” he commanded. I obeyed, traipsing over to the kitchen, a delicious smell in there as always. I had cooked a lot in here over the years and all the smells had merged to one big super-smell with cinnamon cookies being the most prominent component. I sat down on the wooden chair next to the sunflower-yellow kitchen table while Jack started pouring milk into a pot.

I got up again to get one of my lactase pills which I had to take since my stomach couldn’t handle milk sugar, I was lactose intolerant. But Jack pressed me down on my chair again, told me to shush and to stay as cute as I was. He brought me one of the pills.

Soon after, I got my hot chocolate and Jack joined me, holding his own cup of the sweet, heavenly drink. I let the heavy liquid flow down my throat, rejoicing in the taste.

“Thank you so much Jacky. But what is the surprise?!”

“If I told you, it wouldn’t be a surprise anymore, right?” he replied with a wicked grin. I shot him a very short glare before I had to smile at him, he was just too cute.

“But when will you tell me?” I whined.

“That’s a part of the surprise too. And now, I want to take a shower with my boyfriend of almost half a year. You could stay here to wait and be cute while quickly put the groceries in the right places,” he said, winking at me. I was so damn curious but I would have to wait…

Short, but look, I managed to update! There will hopefully be longer chapters soon. c:
And no, this is not the thing I had planned, that will come soon. Very exciting.
