Terrible Things

Trouble.

Ashley stood with her arms crossed in the corner of her room as Ieaned against her door frame the afternoon after the party. We had only just woken up.
"We said he wasn't allowed in your room, Ash." She rolled her eyes and flicked her hair off her face. Wow, sassy. "Specifically told you he couldn't come in. We knew he wouldn't listen, but we though you might be smart enough to say no."
"Nothing happened." She sighed as she flicked onto her bed. We had her two days and she was already being a sassy teenager. Holy shit. "He just slept in here. I didn't fuck him." I walked in and threw the door shut.
"I had to beg Alex to let me bring you and your sister here so you had a place with food to stay while your mom was gone. And if she didn't come back we were going to help you two. The first limit we set for you was that Ashley was not to come in here. And we wake up and he's gone, but his cars still here. Alex walked in on him lying in your bed. He pulled him out by the hair. We're trying to take care of you." Ashley's face had gone red and she looked totally raged.
"If you say any 'You're not my mom and you can't me what to do' shit I will tell you to take your sister and leave. Leverage to behave under my roof? Yes. I think so." I sighed as I turned to leave. You go and so does Emily. This is your warning or whatever. Get showered and dressed, breakfast is ready." I met Alex in the hallway and fell into his arms. I groaned as he stroked my hair. "I hate teenagers. Was I ever this bad? God." He kissed the top of my head before leading me downstairs and into the kitchen. Emily was flipping pancakes onto the boys plates and chatting with Kellin and Vic. Katelynne smiled from where she sat on the couch with Copeland and thanked us for the use of the nursery. I ruffled my big brother's' hair and pulled the carton of juice from the fridge. Ashley slunk down the stairs and apologised to me before timidly taking a seat next to Purdy at the dining table and tucking into the pancakes. Alex looked between their intertwined hands and me and I shook my head. There was really nothing we could do. We had no jurisdiction over the girls and couldn't tell our Ashley what to do. A knock at the door made me leave the kitchen and pull my singlet down over the hem of my sweats. I turned the dead bolt and pushed the door open. Police?
"Are you Caroline Fuentes?" The officer held out his badge as I nodded. "We have a report on suspicion of kidnapping."
"What?" Alex's voice sounded as shocked as I was as he appeared next to my shoulder.
"We recieved a call this morning from a woman named Gale Thorpe. She says she thinks you kidnapped her two daughters." I looked back at Alex wide eyed and Ashley bust to the doorway.
"They didn't kidnap us!" The police officer shook his head.
"We still have to ask all of you to come in for questioning, including your guests. A report needs to be investigated. Please, get in the car."
Everyone shuffled out of the house, Katelynne and Kellin had Copeland squished tight between them and everyones name was taken down so thy could be checked off at the station.

The day that we 'kidnapped' Emily and Ashley Thorpe and had seventeen of our friends taken in for questioning.

Notes

A strange chapter, I know.

Comments

This story is so good! OMG. I just found it and started reading it yesterday, and haven't stopped. I just caught up with all of the updates you have of it and really love it.
It's a very dark fan fic. Specifically with the first half, honestly one of the darkest I've read actually... like with that curse of everything happening on Sundays? Man... and you just kind of kept it up too. It was just very dark, and sad, but... different. And I really like that about this.
The second half seems to be deviating from that a little bit, but I sensed that coming back with the babies thing. I mean, not that I want anything to happen, but I almost feel you had something bad happening planned with the pregnancy. Perhaps not, perhaps that was just to raise some of the tone as opposed to keeping it happy go lucky, who knows. But I found it interesting how you did that.
I'm glad that Alex and Carrie finally got together, with the first part of this I was just screaming GET TOGETHER until they finally did. lol. And I was happy. :)
I found it a bit odd how they just took in those fans though. On a realistic writing level, the oddity of this story was the curse thing. But adding the fans thing in too, it just... it didn't really fit. Especially considering legalities and all of that. I feel like it was a little too easy that they gained guardianship.
But overall, I have enjoyed Alex and Carrie's love story. I'm sad to see it was never finished, so I'm leaving this comment to let you know if you ever do choose to finish it, I will be here to read, for sure. I'd love to see how it all ends for these two. Even if it's just a final chapter wrap up or something; I understand what it's like losing inspiration.
But yeah, sorry if this comment sounded harsh at all, but just wanted to leave my honest thoughts. I think you're a truly great writer, though, and hope you have at least kept up with it in your free time. :)
