Terrible Things

Hot Topic and Hair dye

Jaime wrapped his arms around my waist and kissed my cheek. “You look disturbed, Care?” Jaime and I had had an unofficial on and off relationship for the last six months. Neither Vic or Mike were exactly pleased about it, but they knew that if I put my foot down they couldn't change my mind. The only problem with Jaime and I was we would never agree on when was on or off. We never coincided with our decision. I turned to wrap my arms around him and encourage him to hug me, I needed it. “Oh baby, what's wrong?” I looked up at him and smiled weakly.
“Nothing, I'm fine, I swear.” I couldn't tell him about the exchange with Alex, about the surge of electricity which shocked me to my core when we touched. I didn't want to tell Jaime about the kiss, the moment which had restarted my heart after my brothers death. I hated that they shared the same name. On bad days it made it hard for me to talk to him, and he knew it, so I would just call him slapper because of his position as bass player in the band. “Let's just, lets find the boys.” I grabbed his hand and led him back to bus. Tony sat on the couch with an eggo waffle taco in his hand, jamming along to Bring Me The Horizon.
“Party tonight, fuckers.” Tony mumbled through a mouthful of his strange meal. “Warped opening night fuck-up. Whose keen?” I nodded my head and promised I would be there. Tony gave me a Cheshire grin, exposing yellow fragments of egg and taco.
“That's disgusting.” I mumbled and followed Jaime through to the back room, where Vic and Mike were playing something on the ps3. “Hey, guys.” Vic looked up and pressed the button on the controller to freeze the game.
“Did you find him?” I nodded at Vic and felt my eyes welling up. I couldn't cry, not with Jaime here. He'd turn super-protective and run to the All Time Low bus to punch Alex's lights out. Mike told Jaime to go buy beer with Tony because they needed to speak with their little sister. Jaime grunted disapprovingly before kissing me on the cheek and following Tony off the bus. Instantly Vic pulled me into a hug and asked me to explain.
I recounted the story from the beginning, cover the shit that boys already knew, and started from the day I met Alex. I remembered the day Jaime died and Alex finding me on my porch, I told them of my running to the Gaskarth's during the final moments of Jaime's funeral. The suicide of Chloe, the curse of Sundays and finished with today. With the spark of electricity which had caused Alex to run from me earlier. Mike stroked my hair and I nestled between my brothers.
“Life's a piece of shit, Carr.” Mike mumbled. “I don't know what's wrong with the Gaskarth kid but don't stress over it.” Vic made a sound of agreement and told me I should let him take me shopping for the party tonight.
“What about your set?” I asked.
“It's not for another three hours, we have time.”

The hot Californian sun beat down on our shoulders as we wondered the mall on Hollywood Boulevard. I found a Hot Topic stoop and swept in, ready to destroy Vic's debit card.
“Seriously?” Vic frowned. “There's a party, we're on Hollywood Boulevard, and you're in Hot Topic?” He fingered the t-shirt closest to me. “You are on strange chicka little Fuentes.” I had adopted the boys family name after living with them for six months, they were more of a family to me than I had ever known. Of course, this led Vic and Mike's fans to believe that I had married one of them, but we insisted that I was only his sister, which led to more rumours about where I had suddenly appeared from.
“How about this?” I held up a lacy black tank and held it against myself for Vic to see. “I like it.” Vic nodded and held out a pair of ripped purple jeans.
“You get the jeans and you may have the top as well.” Vic laughed. I always found it funny when he tried to dress me, but none the less it always worked, he had a sixth sense for what looked good on me.
“Mmm, but Victor..” I whined. Knowing exactly where I was going. “Purple with clash with my hair.” I batted my eyelashes at him and produced my best puppy dog eyes.
“Fiiinnnneee.” He moaned and payed for the clothes before leading me into the hair salon next door.
I sat in the chair and told the stylist I wanted black with purple underneath, including my fringe. She nodded and muttered that it would be quick and easy and went off to mix dye. “You really need to stop giving in and buying me shit.” I murmured as Vic took a seat next to me. He shrugged and toulsed my hair, making me groan.
“I like to spoil my ridiculous little sister.” The stylist came back with the dye and seperated my hair out.

“Ready?”

Notes

So what do you guys think so far? Sorry for the unusual lag in updates, I was out for the weekend. :P

This story is so good! OMG. I just found it and started reading it yesterday, and haven't stopped. I just caught up with all of the updates you have of it and really love it.
It's a very dark fan fic. Specifically with the first half, honestly one of the darkest I've read actually... like with that curse of everything happening on Sundays? Man... and you just kind of kept it up too. It was just very dark, and sad, but... different. And I really like that about this.
The second half seems to be deviating from that a little bit, but I sensed that coming back with the babies thing. I mean, not that I want anything to happen, but I almost feel you had something bad happening planned with the pregnancy. Perhaps not, perhaps that was just to raise some of the tone as opposed to keeping it happy go lucky, who knows. But I found it interesting how you did that.
I'm glad that Alex and Carrie finally got together, with the first part of this I was just screaming GET TOGETHER until they finally did. lol. And I was happy. :)
I found it a bit odd how they just took in those fans though. On a realistic writing level, the oddity of this story was the curse thing. But adding the fans thing in too, it just... it didn't really fit. Especially considering legalities and all of that. I feel like it was a little too easy that they gained guardianship.
But overall, I have enjoyed Alex and Carrie's love story. I'm sad to see it was never finished, so I'm leaving this comment to let you know if you ever do choose to finish it, I will be here to read, for sure. I'd love to see how it all ends for these two. Even if it's just a final chapter wrap up or something; I understand what it's like losing inspiration.
But yeah, sorry if this comment sounded harsh at all, but just wanted to leave my honest thoughts. I think you're a truly great writer, though, and hope you have at least kept up with it in your free time. :)
