Star Light, Star Bright

Make Yourself at Home

The caramel haired teen pulls into his parking space, and his fingers turn the key in order to turn the vehicle off. Alex’s hands find the door handle, which he opens. The cold air hits his skin as soon as he exits the vehicle. He wishes that he brought at least another blanket, but that doesn’t really matter. It’s good that he at least brought the ones that he did because of the boy in his car. Ah, the boy from the sky! Alex makes his way to the other side of his car and opens the door for Jack. The large nosed teen quickly pulls the blankets even tighter around himself.
“Cold,” he mumbles.
“I know,” Alex tells him. “We just have to go through that door over there, and it will be warm again.”
Jack gets out of the car quickly and runs over to the door. His hands pull the door open and try to pull the one after that open, but it’s locked. The lanky teen tries even harder to get it open while Alex walks into the area that Jack is in. The shorter man chuckles as he watches the younger try to open the door. Jack finally gets up and tries to wrap the blankets around himself tighter.
“It won’t open,” he tells the older teen, “and I don’t see a keyhole. I don’t understand.”
Alex, who is still laughing, goes over and swipes his card key. The door makes a sound, and he opens the door. He looks at the younger and sees that his cheeks are slightly pink. It makes his cuteness increase by about 50%. Is there any other thing that could make Jack cuter? Alex motions for Jack to follow him. Their feet take them up a couple flights up stairs and then over to the older’s apartment. The lighter haired brunet takes his keys out of his pocket and finds the right one for his door. The key goes in and then gets turned by the hand of the older male. Once done, Alex opens the door and tells Jack to go inside. The taller male does as told and enters. Alex follows behind and locks the door.
The apartment is one bedroom with the door to this next to the bathroom door which is on the right when you enter. On the left is a small kitchen area that connects to the living room. The living room consists of a television facing the direction of where the bedroom is located. In front of the television is a mahogany coffee table and cream couch that has a matching armchair. There are also mahogany end tables at the ends of the couch with lamps on them. Besides that, the other thing that is in the room besides the stack of Xbox games by the device itself would be all of the pizza and chinese boxes and some other trash on the coffee table. There are also some papers on the floor as well.
“Sorry about the mess,” Alex says as he quickly goes over and starts to clean it up. “Come and take a seat while I clean this up and get a pair of clothes for you to wear.”
Jack slowly walks over to the couch, taking in the apartment as he goes, and then sits down. Alex picks up all he can and takes it to the trash can. He repeats this since he is able to carry some of the trash in the pizza box. When this is done, he wipes his hands on his pants and goes into his room to find clothing for the boy that fell from the sky.
Alex opens his drawer and grabs a pair of boxers and the pajama pants that his mom gave him for Christmas. They are finally going to be getting some use out of them. The final stop is the closet. The nineteen year old opens it and looks inside. His shirts are probably going to be a little baggy on the other teen as well as the pajama bottoms, but that shouldn’t matter since it is sleepwear. He ends up grabbing one of his old Blink-182 T-shirts.
When the older teen goes back into the living room, he finds Jack examining the lamp that is closer to the kitchen. His finger touches the bulb which causes the younger to pull it back and hold it. Alex goes over to Jack and sets the clothes down on the coffee table. His hand takes Jack’s and looks at the injury. There isn’t even a red mark. The seventeen year old most likely just pulled his hand back in shock.
“You’re not suppose to touch the bulbs. They’re hot,” Alex tells him.
“I’m sorry. I just didn’t understand how such bright light is coming out of it. It doesn’t look like a candle is inside.”
“No, it’s powered by electricity.”
“I don’t understand.”
“Well, I guess that I’m going to have to help you with all of this stuff then. Here are some clothes for you. You can go into the bathroom and put them on. There is a switch on the left when you enter the room. Use that to turn the light on in there. The bathroom is the door closest to the entrance.”
Jack grabs the clothes off of the coffee table and takes them into the bathroom with him. As Alex waits, he sits down on the couch next to the spot that the younger teen had been sitting and turns the television on. Since nothing is on, he turns it off and puts a CD into the Xbox. Once inside, he turns the music on and sits back down on the couch. When the taller teen comes back out in the clothes he was given and the blankets and hoodie in his hands, he looks at Alex with a confused face.
“Where is that music coming from?” he asks.
“I put a CD into the Xbox,” the shorter teen replies. “I hope you don’t mind.”
Jack sits down next to Alex. “What’s a CD?”
“Well, um, it’s this flat circle thing that holds music. If you put it into something that plays it, music will come out of the speakers.”
“What are speakers?”
“Speakers are the things that the sound comes out of.”
“Oh. I’m sorry that I don’t know any of this.”
“It’s fine. Um, do you like it?”
“Yes,” Jack nods with a smile. “I actually like it more than any music that I have ever heard. I remember that I used to love music, but I was never able to learn how to play since instruments are too expensive.”
“I could teach you how to play guitar. I have an extra one.”
“You’d teach me how to play?”
“Of course. Wait. You said that you remember that you love music.”
The younger’s face falls. “Yeah, I remember that but nothing else. I wish that I could remember, but I can’t.”
“Well, I would take you down to the police station, but I don’t think that they’ll believe that you fell from the sky.”
“They would probably think that it was some kind of witchcraft, and it’s not like I can remember having a family anyway.”
“I don’t think they’ll think it was witchcraft, but I also don’t think that they will help much. I don’t even know if you’re from Earth. You could be an alien or something.”
“I do know that I’m from Earth.”
“Huh, well, I wasn’t expecting that. Um, I’ll try to look stuff up on the internet tomorrow. You’re probably tired. You can take my room while I sleep on the couch.”
“I couldn’t do that.”
“You’re a guest, so go ahead. I’m going to stay up a little later anyway to work on my essay. It’s due in a week, and I haven’t even started it.”
“Ok. Um, goodnight.”
“Night.”
Jack gets up and makes his way into the bedroom as Alex grabs his laptop off of the floor. He turns it on when Jack comes back into the living room. Alex doesn’t really know what he could want. He should at least know how to go to sleep. The question that falls off of Jack’s tongue has nothing to do with sleeping or the bedroom. He just asks, “What’s the internet?”
Alex chuckles. “I’ll tell you about it tomorrow.”
“Oh, ok.”
The taller teen goes back into the bedroom. Alex smiles as he starts to work on his essay. Maybe he has gotten in over his head, but he’s pretty sure that he can handle this. Besides, it’s actually pretty cool. It’s not everyday that a boy falls from the sky, a boy that obviously needs his help. Perhaps his wish did come true after all.

Notes

Sorry this is a day late. I have other stories to update too since I didn't update yesterday. I had a really bad headache, but I'm feeling better now, and I'm not tired like I was for the last five days.
Now, I'm going to do what I did with one of my other stories. If you want to guess what's up with Jack falling from the sky, you can. Just comment it or message it, and I'll message back. It's not clear as of this moment, but it will become more clear as the story goes along. I'm not sure how many chapters yet.
Anyway, I hope you like the story so far! I'm so happy that I got so many subscribers on the first chapter. The only time that this has happened was when I made a sequel to one of my stories, and this one is actually tired in recommendations with that one. Thank you to everyone that has subscribed!
