Victoria could feel the vibration in her pocket from her phone since the time she stepped into the party. Knowing it was her parents, she shut it off, not wanting to be bothered by them. In all honesty, she was scared to go home. She didn’t want to go back to her parents and have them be disappointed in her. That was always her biggest fear: disappointment.

Alex got to know the leader of the party, Jack Barakat, throughout the night. Despite Alex’s protests, Jack got him to listen to a few Blink songs as they blasted through the speakers, and Alex actually liked them. Victoria laughed so hard that tears came to her eyes as she watched Alex dance crazily with Jack to “The Rock Show.”

Even though she didn’t do a lot of dancing, Victoria was actually enjoying herself. She tried not to think about her incoming doom at home and used a few drinks to wash down those thoughts. She loved watching Alex make more friends and having fun. Although there was that little voice in her head saying the more friends he makes, the more he’ll forget about her. She knew it was silly to think this. Besides, she had only known him a few days, and freaking out this much was killing the good vibes.

But Victoria’s state of mind wasn’t even close to Alex’s. He was completely out of it―seeing things and balance totally off. Victoria blinked her eyes a few times, looking up at the clock and checking the time. Midnight. Fuck.

As if on cue, Jack shuffled over to Victoria by the table of drinks with Alex hanging on to his shoulders. “I t―th―think he’s had en―n―nough for the night.” Jack slurred while laughing. Alex’s head hung down, but Victoria could still see the motion of his head from giggling.

“I should take him home.” Victoria took him off Jack and put his sweaty arm around her own shoulders.

“Hey, you had a f―feeeeeeeeew drinks as well, missy.” Jack pointed to her, almost falling off his feet from his drunken state.

“Shut the fuck up, Barakat.” Victoria chuckled, making her way out of the messy house. “Thanks for invite.”

Jack put his hand to his chest, pretending to be flattered. “No biggie, besidesssssssssss he was fun anyways. He’s thinkin’ bout starting a band too.” He put up his fist in triumph.

Victoria’s eyes lit up. He was actually going to start the band. He might have agreed to it in his drunken state, but he couldn’t take it back now. She was just as excited as Jack was.

Bidding Jack goodnight, Victoria walked out of the house, practically dragging Alex with her. After a couple of minutes, it was getting tiring to walk with his weight. She looked down at him as they shuffled through the streets, moving some tufts of hair from his eyes. She never thought guys could be beautiful, but as she looked at Alex at that moment, she took back that statement forever.

After ten minutes of walking, they approached Alex’s house. “Alex, we’re here.” She called, but all he did in response is groan. She huffed out a sigh and saw all the lights off in his house. She found the house key under the mat and unlocked the door, dragging him across the house to his room. The floors creaked under her feet, and she prayed that she wouldn’t get caught. She got to his room successfully, using all the muscle she had to put him on his bed without dropping him. She needed to get home, but she couldn’t help but kneel down next to his bed and push away a few strands of hair from his face.

“Thank you for moving here.” She whispered to his sleeping form before tiptoeing out and across the street.
