Me Without You

Zack and I both woke up hungry the next morning and decided we would head across the street to the nearest starbucks because neither of use liked the food options in the hotel.

Inside the starbucks we occupied a booth and Zack went up to order for us and soon returned with frappacinos in hand. Zack had kept his eyes on me a small smirk playing at his lips.

"What are you smiling at Merrick" I laughed swirling my straw in my drink, the whipped cream blended into it. My hand felt the cold beverage as I lifted it up, my lips were met with the smooth caramel incorporated in my drink.

"I just cant believe you and Alex are dating. You seemed like you wanted nothing to do with him a few days ago." He kept his eyes steady on me as he drank.

"Maybe I was a little quick but this feeling that I have, its a feeling I cannot ignore. Its like Alex knows how to manipulate my heart in ways that no ever has before. Zack, I could have made a huge mistake trusting him so soon, but its a mistake im willing to make." with that I leaned back into my chair as Zack leaned forward in his. He pursed his lips and thought out carefully what his next words were going to be.

"You two seem right for each other, you can make things work but I have one more question for you." He said

"Shoot" I challenged, intrigued as to what he had to ask me

"Where were you on the night that you came back? I pulled you two away, I know, but at the time he had a girlfriend but you just disappeared." Zack looked sad, he probably had a feeling something bad had happened to me. I had feeling that if I told him what really happened he would blame himself and I didn't want that.

"I had left and booked a room at another hotel." I lied, so many lies.

"You and I both know thats not true." His eyes started to water, "You left and that Johnny guy came back and raped you again. Please don't lie"

"How do you know?" I asked astonished that he knew exactly what went down. Honestly, it made my blood run cold.

"Last night when you were asleep Alex texted us to have a group meeting in the others room. He told us everything." You could hear his voice start to crack

"Oh Zack no don't cry please, its going to be okay." I whispered placing my hand on his cheek.

"I should have never took Alex away, i'm sorry Ashley." He put his head on the table and continued to sob.

I picked his head up from the table gently and tried to soothe him. "Its not your fault that I was attacked again. He said he was coming back for me and it was only a matter of time. Zack we cant be weak, this is what he wants. He wants to destroy us, thats what they do. He attacked me because he wanted to, nothing would have stopped him. We would have only postponed the tragic event. Please stop crying" I dried the tears from his face and made my way to his side of the booth so that I could hug him.

"Can you forgive me?" He asked with shaky words

"I cannot forgive you for something that was not your fault." I stroked his head and pulled him away from me.

"Come on lets go" I took his hand and we made our way back to the room.

Back in the room Zack and I took to taking a nap giving our little talk at starbucks wore us both out. It wasn't till we heard a small knock on the door that we bothered to move.

Zack and I played rock, paper, scissors to see who would get and I lost. Rolling off of the bed I opened the door to a smiling Alex. I frowned and let him in.

"Hello Alex how are you? Great thanks for asking." He mocked, sitting down on my bed.

"Great okay hello babe, what do you want?" I leaned down kissing him and then sitting next to him

"I want to go out on a date." he smiled, kissing me again.
