Me Without You

*Alexs POV*

The past hour ran through my mind, replaying over and over. When Marisa surprised me by showing up in New York I knew I had to end it with her. I thought taking her out to dinner would make it easier because in public she couldnt react as badly and all that nonsense but now I realized I was such a complete and utter idiot. I didnt think she would fucking propose to me! When we stood up I was two seconds from telling her, two seconds, but nope she got down on one knee and proposed.

Boy, when I turned to walk away and saw Ashley standing there, she stood in shock and horror not understanding what had gone down. I had reached my hand out to try to stop her, to explain what happened. But, she turned and ran. It was as if she held a string tied around my heart because the farther she ran the more she ripped my heart out until it laid in front of me.

I had grabbed a taxi and was now trying to see if I can see her in the crowd. My fingers were numb from constantly dialing her number hoping, praying just to hear her voice one more time. To hear her say hello to me, she made me smile just by that one word. Before I could dial her number again I got an incoming call from Jack

. "Jack!" I screamed, quickly explaining what happened to him and what he needed to do.

"You're screwed man but I will do it." He agreed hanging up the phone. I directed the taxi back to the hotel and quickly paid the driver and ran to my room to try and find her. I couldnt lose her again, I just got her back.

*Ashley's POV*

The amount of times my phone buzzed from Alex calling me was getting annoying. I had made my way to outside the city to a quiet little town.

The taxi dropped me off at a small one story house that was white with colorful flowers lining the walls. A black BMW sat in the driveway and I made my way up the cobblestone path to the front door. Tears stung my eyes as I rung the doorbell. There was some scuffling inside and the door opened as I was met with familiar eyes.

"Hey Kayden. thanks for taking me in I should be out within a week though." I said eyeing the ground. She nodded and enveloped me in a hug stroking my hair.

"Its going to be okay, Ashley. Lets go get you something to eat, and don't worry you can stay as long as you like." She offered letting me in and leading me to the kitchen. Dan sat at the table with a mug in hand reading a magazine.

"Hey Ash, make yourself at home." I did as he said and sat down at the table as Kayden gave me some food on a plate, I devoured it in minutes. We sat in silence as we all just stared at each other not knowing what to say. The quieter it got the more fidgety I grew. It made me realize that my phone hadnt buzzed in a while.

"Are you okay?" Dan asked, Kayden hit him in the arm and scolded him for being so blunt

I waved it as being okay and continued, "Yeah, I guess, I mean it was so soon. We had just met up again and he didnt even know what happened to me and-" I choked through my tears and Dan sat wide eyed.

"You mean he didnt know about you being in the hospital or any of that?" Dan stared at me with concern. He hadnt wanted me to leave the hospital but I did and here we were. It doesn't matter though because the two events arent connected but still. Before I could answer my phone rang and to my relief it was Jack this time and I answered.

"Hey Jacky." I smiled into the phone through my tears. "Ash tell me where you are I need to see you" he insisted

"No Jack, I need some time away" my smile faded

"You had a whole year away! Please it will be just me" he pleaded but I didn't know if I could trust him.

"Jack, if I tell you where I am you're going to bring Alex and 'make us talk'" my voice turning sour

"No I swear on my dick! No Alex! He doesn't even know I called you." Jack sounded sad and I was sad too. I wanted to see him, my heart wanted to see him. But, in my mind I knew this was a bad idea.

"Okay jack but be here tomorrow" I gave in a gave him the address and hung up putting my head in my hands.

"He's going to bring Alex you know" Kayden said putting the food away.

"I know he is" I dragged my body to the couch and slumped down closing my eyes to sleep. Someone draped a blanket over me and I fell fast asleep.

Opening my eyes to a brand new day I went to the bathroom to get washed up. I had no clothes or toothbrush or any beauty products. So we made a quick run to a walgreens and I borrowed some of kayden's clothes.

Jack texted me saying he would be here at two and it was currently one so I sat down and watched some tv to pass the hour. It seemed to go by really slowly but soon the doorbell rang and dan answered it.

"Jacks here" Dan said leading him into the living room. I looked up at him and my breath caught in my throat.

"That is not Jack" I breathed our heavily and stood up closing the gap between us.

"How dare you!" I screamed slapping him across the face.

"Well hello to you too" He said holding his jaw. When he let it go I saw a red handprint and sat down on the couch in anger,
