Alex smiled when he saw her name on the screen and he pressed the green button.
"Hello love, I was just thinking of you" he said.
"Well I guess marriage really do bring people closer" Max laughed.
"So what are you up to?" he asked and put on a new flannel hood in red.
"Me and Blossom are watching Disney" Max said and he could hear the music to Under The Sea in the background.
"She really do love The Little Mermaid" Alex chuckled.
"So what are you up to then?" Max said and he could hear her smile.
"Me and Jenna are heading out to eat lunch, then we’re getting back to do some more vocals" he said and smiled. He heard her frown a little.
"Oh.. Okay" she said.
"Max… Talk to me" Alex said. He knew she was a little bit jealous.
"I just don’t like it that you’re alone with her" she confessed.
"Why? Because she’s my ex?" he asked.
"Yeah, but that’s not the major reason" she said.
"Then what is it?" he asked.
"I’m scared you will get your feelings back" she whispered.
"Max… It won’t happen" Alex said.
"But you don’t know that" Max said.
"Max… Why would it happen?" Alex sighed.
"Think about it. You broke up with Bri, then it was you. But Jenna was scared off by Bri. It wasn’t your choice to leave her, she left you. Now you’re spending time with her again. So of course I’m scared that you will get your feelings back" she said. He stayed quiet. He hadn’t thought about it like that.
"Alex?" she asked and sounded a bit worried.
"You don’t have to worry Max. I love you, not her" Alex said.
"I love you too, and when you get back we need to talk" she whispered.
"Talk? About what?" Alex asked.
"You don’t have to be worried, it’s not something bad" Max said and laughed.
"Why can’t we take it now then?" Alex asked.
"Because I want to talk face to face" Max said and he could hear her smile.

Alex stretched out his back and saw Jenna walk into the room. She had her hair up in a bun, had a mint green dress on and black vans. Alex swallowed and got a little bit nervous after Max call before. This might be harder than he had thought it would be.
"Are you ready for some food?" she asked and smiled, and Alex couldn’t help but to smile himself. This was going to be really hard.

Jenna hooked her arm in under his arm, laughed and pointed towards one of the restaurant they used to go to when they dated. It served chinese and Alex loved that place. He smiled.
"Shall we go there?" he asked and she nodded eagerly.
"I really feel like having a hot wok" she laughed.
"So do I" Alex said and smiled. He noticed that two girls looked at him and looked a bit surprised, and then they took pictures of him. He smiled and waved his hands and they both let out small squeals. Alex chuckled and so did Jenna, before they entered the restaurant and sat down by a table in the corner.

Alex had just taken one last bite when he get a texts from Jack.

Dude… Are you with Jenna?

From: Alex
Yeah, why?

What? What did it say?

From: Jack
"The new Mrs Gaskarth hasn’t been seen for weeks and now Alex is seen with his ex Jenna, laughing and having fun. What happened to their fairytale?"

Alex choked a little on his drink and Jenna looked at him.
"What is it?" she asked.
"Our fanbase thinks we’re back together" Alex sighed.
"What? For eating lunch together?" Jenna asked.
"Apparently" Alex sighed.
"your fanbase is seriously nuts" she said.
"Would you get offended if I posted a picture of you, but said I missed my wife?" he asked. She looked at him and then she shook her head.
"Go on" she smiled. Alex laughed and took a picture of her, and then he wrote a text under.

Spending some time with this lovely lady, since we are working on a new song together. Wish I could be home with my wife and daughter though, miss them.

Jenna smiled and said that the picture was cute, and then she finished her meal. Alex was still a little bit nervous about the whole thing. First the call from Max about her being scared like that, then Jenna all pretty and shit and then now this. His fanbase believing that he was with his ex again.

Just because Jenna wanted the song perfect they had to add two extra days before they finally managed to get the song good. Or at least get Jenna satisfied with it. Then they flew back to Baltimore for a release party, and since they had gone two days over they had to go immediately for the party. Alex was just going home to take a shower get dressed and then he would be on his way.

They landed and Alex picked up his phone.
"Hi babe" Max answered and she sounded a bit distant.
"Hi, we just landed so I’ll be home in a few minutes to take a shower. I was just wondering if you could take out my purple shirt and black blazer?" he asked.
"Oh, I’m not home at the moment, I’m having lunch with Blossom, Ed and Trevor" Max said.
"That’s okay, I’ll get it myself. See you tonight" he said.
"I love you" she said.
"And I love you" he answered.

The black skinny jeans was a little bit too tight, the alcohol was making him lightheaded and the blazer soon hang over his arm instead of being on him. He was having a great time and when he looked around he saw Jack making out with some blond girl, Rian was dancing with Cassadee and Zack was talking to two brunettes. Alex smiled and nodded for himself.
"So Mr Gaskarth, are you having fun?" Jenna asked and smiled. Alex smiled and nodded.
"It’s really nice" he said and chuckled.
"Nice? It should be awesome… You’re not having fun" she said and lightly punched him. He laughed and looked at her.
"PICTURE" a photographer called out and pressed up a camera in their face. Jenna wrapped her arms around Alex waist, and he laid his arm over her shoulders. They both smiled and the flashed almost blinded them, but they both laughed it off and Jenna hugged him.
"God, it’s been fun working with you" Jenna said.
"I enjoyed it, it was different and a new experience" he said and looked into her eyes and smiled. She bit her lip a little and then she leaned in and kissed him. He got surprised and then he laid his hands on her cheeks and kissed her back, before he realized what he did and pushed her away. Of course the photographer called out and snapped pictures of it all, but Alex just stared at Jenna.
"I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to" she said and covered her mouth in shock.
"I’m with Max" Alex said and you could see the guilt build up more and more in his face. The photographer still snapped pictures. Alex pushed him away and then he hurried away.
"ALEX" Jenna called after him.

He drove home and his heart was racing. Not only had he kissed Jenna like Max had been scared of from the beginning, it had all been caught on picture. So she would probably see it. He would tell her even if they didn’t get caught on camera, but just the thought of how she would react when she saw the pictures as well. It made his heart tore and hurt. He noticed he was crying. He felt like a failure. Jack called him.
"Alex, where the fuck are you? Jenna’s crying and won’t tell us anything" Jack said. Then he heard that Alex sobbed as well.
"Dude, what is going on?" Jack asked, a bit worried.
"I fucked up so bad" Alex said. Jack moved to a move quiet place.
"You what?" Jack asked.
"I fucked up so bad tonight" Alex said and another sob left his mouth.
"What did you do?" Jack asked.
"Jenna kissed me, and I kissed her back before I realized what I did and… Here I am" he said.
"shit" Jack whispered.
"I’m on my way home, i need to see Max" he sad and another sob left his mouth.
"Don’t do anything stupid" Jack said and they hung up.

He walked in and covered his mouth. He didn’t want her to hear him crying. But Max did and she came out to see him.
"What is going on Alex?" she asked him, worried.
He just looked at her and couldn’t say it. How should he say it without breaking her heart?
"I kissed Jenna" he said.
"You did what?" she asked.
"Jenna kissed me tonight, and I kissed her back before I realized what I was doing" he sobbed. She stared at him. Completely shocked. She was trying to comprehend what he just had said. Then she turned pale and stared at him. She picked up one of the shoes in the hall and she threw it at him. Then she started to cry, and she picked up shoe after shoe and threw at him. He bit his lip and just stood there. She cried and stopped in the movement. She suddenly looked sick.
"Max… Max?" Alex asked, worried. She covered her mouth and leaned forward. Crying and trying not to feel sick. But then he saw she started to throw up. She hurried towards the bathroom, but it still came through her fingers.
"Max?" he asked and hurried after her. But she slammed the door closed in his face, and he heard how she hurled over the toilet. His heart tore apart when he heard it. She was disgusted by him. She felt sick because of him.

About an hour later Ed walked in through the front door and he looked worried. He saw Alex by the kitchen table and he looked completely broken.
"I failed her" he whispered.
"No you didn’t" Ed said and sat down across the table from her.
"She’s disgusted by me" he said.
"no she’s not" Ed sighed.
"She’s in there right now, throwing up" Alex said and swallowed.
"Like she’s been doing for the last month actually" Ed said and looked at Alex. Alex looked at Ed. Surprised.
"She’s what?" Alex asked.
"Ever since she had that half raw chicken she’s been throwing up everyday, I forced her to go to the hospital and apparently it’s some slow bacteria that slowly goes through her stomach" he sighed.
"Why didn’t she tell me?" Alex asked and stared at Ed.
"Honestly I thought she had" Ed said. Then they saw that she walked out from the bathroom. Her hair was wet and you could see that she had taken a shower. She was only dress in a tee and underwear. She looked at Alex and broke down completely again. He jolted up from chair and hurried over to her, and she pushed him away.
"Leave me alone" she cried and he pulled her up on her feet at wrapped his arms around her. She struggled and tried to get away but he wouldn’t let her. Then he let go and looked at her as she stumbled back. She picked up another shoe and threw at him, and when she didn’t have any more shoes to throw at him she pulled of her ring and threw it at him. Alex caught it and stared at her. Hurt and broken.
"Max" he called out when she ran upstairs. He hurried after but she locked herself inside their bedroom.
"Max open the door" he begged but she just cried.

Ed took Tigerlily and promised to have her over the night, so they could try to talk. Alex sat outside their bedroom door and leaned against the door. He heard her from to time when she cried, and then how she threw up in their bathroom. He took a deep breath and called out her name again.
"Max, open the door" he said. But she didn’t answer and he closed his eyes again.
"Open the damn door" he whispered, and then he heard something that made him jolt up. He heard that she threw frames in the wall.
"Max?" Alex called out and he could hear how she cried more and more again.
"MAX OPEN THE DOOR" he yelled.

He was still sitting outside the door when Jack and Ed came over. Tigerlily was nowhere to be seen, and they got so surprised to see Alex so broken.
"Where is she?" Ed asked. Alex looked at the door and they both nodded.
"Here" Jack said and handed him a bag. Inside was a sandwich and a cup of coffee. Alex gave them an empty smile and they left him alone again. He looked at the door and took a sip of the coffee. Then he heard it. She was awake again and she cried. Again.
"Max, open the door" he begged.
"I can’t do this" she said and he heard how another frame broke. He shot up from his place and didn’t care the coffee leaked out over the floor and carpet. He kicked in the door and this time it broke down. Max gasped and looked at Alex and he saw that she wasn’t hurting herself. He sighed in relief and fell down to his knees.
"Thank God, I thought you would kill yourself" he whispered. She stared at him and he saw that every frame of them together was broken. Shattered in the corner.
"Why did you do it?" she cried.
"I don’t know" he said and looked at her.
"You don’t know?" she cried.
"Jenna kissed me and it was just like you feared, for a second my feelings came back and kissed her back… Then I realized what I did and I pushed her away" he said and teared up again. He moved closer to her and now he noticed how much weight she had lost.
"Dear lord, how much weight have you lost?" he gasped and took her hands. Her wrists was so thin. The whole her was thin.
"15 pounds" she whispered.
"what?" he gasped.
"I can’t do this Alex" she cried.
"Please don’t say so" he said.
"I can’t do this" she said again and trembled.
