Return the Favor
Some Nights
Laura's POV
And with the final chord of Dear Maria, the show is over. Thank god, I can just pack up quick and head back to my nightly routine. The only difference is I'm back on a tour bus.
Stepping out of the shower quickly, I grab my blades out of the drawer and head back to my bunk. It's definitely a night to raid the alcohol stash. Lost in my thoughts, I don't notice the boy moving towards me until I've run into him and fallen down.
"What the fuck? Watch where you're going." I ignored the hand reaching down to help me up, just eager to grab my blades fast and get back to my bunk. Alcohol is too risky here, with the no-drinking rule. I pick up the scattered items and rush past the boy with an apology still forming on his lips.
His lips.
Why? Out of all the goddamn people on this bus, did I have to run into him.
Zack's POV
Laura. She's everywhere. In my head, in my heart, and now here on this bus that suddenly seems so small. I can never stop thinking about her. Even when I was with Lisa. I just wish I could talk to her like we used to. But I've ruined that. Even if I told her Lisa never mattered, and that I dumped the dumb bitch the second Laura left, she wouldn't take me back.
Completely absorbed in self-pity and thought, I rounded a corner and ran smack into someone. A very tiny someone who immediately went crashing to the ground. Instinctively, I reached out a hand to help her up, not even realizing who it was. Then they cursed me out, and I realized.
Laura.
All of my apologies on my lips, she scramled after an object she had dropped and scurried away. It took me a second to register. It was a blade. Oh god, I thought, as I sunk to the floor. I caused her to start cutting again. It's my fault. She's destroying herself because of me.
As I thought about it more and more, I realized I hadn't seen her eating either. She always said she wasn't hungry. Oh my god. She's cutting and starving herself. And I could never forget the night I found her drunk, passed out on the sidewalk in front of my house. I had carried her back to Jack and Alex's without a word. But clearly, that wasn't a one time thing.
Laura's a time-bomb, ready to implode. And it's my fault.
