Better Off This Way

I opened my eyes to a familiar bus. But it wasn’t my bus. I had fallen asleep on Zack’s shoulder and he was snoring, loudly. It surprised me that the snoring didn’t disrupt my sleeping. Just as I was about to get up, I realized that his hand was around my waist and my head was pounding. What happened last night? I gently took Zack’s hand off of me and tip toed to the front of the bus to grab my stuff and go. My phone had a few texts from Neil, I hope he wasn’t worried…

“Going so soon?” Rian was at the couch behind me.

“Caught red handed.” I laughed.

“Oh please, you’re not in trouble.” He shook his head. “Want some coffee before you go? I made too much.”

“God yes,” I went over to the coffee pot and poured some into a paper cup and put a lid on it. “Thanks.”

“Of course,” he nodded, “no use in letting good coffee go to waste, right?”

“Yeah, hey I have an odd question.” I changed the subject.

“Uh oh, go ahead.” He smiled.

“Do you know what happened last night? My head’s killing me and I can’t remember a thing.” I said.

“Well you and Zack were getting pretty flirty, and kind of touchy. Hell, you two were even kissing.” He laughed.

“Oh no,” I put my face in my hands.

“Oh yes, but don’t worry about it.” He shrugged. “You were drunk anyways. It’s not like you guys had sex.”

I didn’t want to go back to the bus now. But after hearing Rian tell me not to worry, I didn’t.

“Well thanks for everything, I’ll see myself out.” I grabbed my bag and coffee and went out the door.

Meanwhile on ATL’s bus…
Zack’s POV

I opened my eyes and looked to my side. Of course Blithe was gone. How can I let that beauty slip away from me every damn time? I swear to god I’m falling for her, fast. I heard her voice and Rian’s going back and forth, simple conversation. Then I heard him talk about what had happened last night, and she sounded upset about it. Well she didn’t seem upset about anything last night.

“You’re so muscular,” she giggled and I could actually smell the alcohol on her breath. We were usually kind of flirty but now that she’s got something to drink, her flirty side is really showing. Her hands were tracing patterns on my chest and her lower lip was caught in between her teeth. She looked at my lips and leaned in slowly, her eyes flickered up to look into my own before they shut completely. I closed the gap between our lips, I want to know how she tastes. She opened her mouth just enough for my tongue to fit through. She gripped my neck while I was holding onto her waist.

“Get a room you two!” Jack and Alex started throwing ping pong balls at us from the door. We hadn’t even noticed them come in. Blithe and I were just in the back room by ourselves, talking and drinking, until now.

“Oh shut up!” She split from me and laughed at the two guys.

“Let’s do something fun, like a drinking game!” Jack clapped and thought of a drinking game we could do. “Home Alone drinking game right now, I’ve already got some rules picked out and everything.”

“Sounds like a plan Jack-o.” Alex patted his back and came back with some drinks. He brought Rian and Matt along with him so I guess this was going to be interesting.

“Oh gosh you guys, this is fun but I should probably get going.” Blithe got up from the couch and almost got to the door to leave the room but all of us booed and stopped her in her tracks.

“Stay,” Jack begged.

“Yeah, look at yourself! You can’t even walk straight; you shouldn’t be making that dangerous journey.” Rian shook his head.

“Your seat’s still available if you want to stick around.” I said.

“I guess you guys are right,” she laughed and sat back down beside me. I wrapped my arm around her so she wouldn’t try to leave again. Around the end of the movie she was yawning and she leaned her head against my shoulder. I let her fall asleep but then I wasn’t able to get to my bunk when everyone else was leaving. I decided to stay like this and sleep with Blithe on my shoulder.

Blithe’s POV

As I made my way back to the bus, I saw that it wasn’t even there. They fucking left without me. I looked at my phone to see a message from Neil.

From: Neil <3
Hey babe, sorry we left but everyone wanted to get there early.

I shook my head and went back to ATL’s bus, I’m sure they would let me spend the day with them… Again.

“They left me stranded.” I walked back onto the bus to see Rian still on the couch.

“Aw man, you can hang here if you want. I mean, it’s not like you really have a choice or anything.” He smiled and shrugged. “Might as well make yourself comfortable.”

“Well why don’t we actually do something?” Zack walked in the room.

“Like what?” Rian laughed. “All we do on travel days is sit around and do nothing.”

“And now we have a guest to entertain, she is going to be here all day.” Zack shrugged.

“Nah, don’t worry about it.” I shook my head. “I’ve got to start writing your profiles anyways so I might as well start off with you Rian.”

“Alright, I’ve been looking forward to this!” He laughed. “Hit me with questions, I’m ready.”
