Day two.


Mom and Carl had already left work, and of course they both expected Ember to do the breakfast dishes again, which I would have enjoyed more had I not still been folding the massive amount of laundry from the day before. I never realized how quickly four people could go through clothes, but it did give me an idea. A way of paying back Ember for dumping this crap on me in the first place.


Everyone's clothes were folded in an almost-neat pile. I sat mom and Carl's in their room, my pile on my bed and most of Ember's clean clothes by her bedroom door. There were three tiny pairs of underwear left and I hadn't quiet figured out what I wanted to do with them. Most of them were nothing special, but there was one black pair which were incredibly see-through.


Poor little Ember wasn't very well known in our town, so I thought she should have a proper greeting. Taking the red pair, I used my favorite black Sharpie to write: Ember Meadows. Propery of Alex Gaskarth! on the small triangle that was the front of the underwear. Snickering to myself, I made my way outside and taped them to the front of the mailbox. As for the see-through pair, well, those were just too sexy to ruin, so I simply tied them around the mailbox flag once I raised it.


From there, I called my best friend and invited him over, but before we got off the phone, I asked him to check the mail for me. He thought it was an odd request but totally agreed. Feeling content with myself, I plopped down on the couch and turned it to the Disney channel. It wasn't my best prank, but I was hoping it'd be enough to make Ember never want me to touch her dirty clothes again.


About twenty minutes later, Alex let himself through our front door with a large grin on his face. As fate would have it, Ember was making her way through the living room just as he entered. She stopped dead in her tracks when she saw her underwear hanging from Alex's fingers. Her eye twitched as she glared at me, but I smugly smiled in return.


"So, you finally decided to come around," Alex smirked, using her underwear as a sling shot. They hit her square in the chest and she awkwardly read the writing. "For our first date, you should wear these so I can take them off with my teeth."


I held in my life as he winked at her, holding the black pair up by his finger. Ember cringed, balling the red pair up in her fist before she marched over to Alex and ripped them from her finger.


"Not going out with you, Alex," she mumbled, sending a glare my way. "Thanks for bringing them back, though."


"Yeah," Alex smirked, leaning against the wall. "Figured since so many people have already called asking who Ember is and why she's at Jack's house I should return them."


"What?"


"Oh, yeah. I forgot to tell you, sis. I gave you a real welcome into our town. At least now you won't get hit on by anyone but Alex."


"Piss off, Jack."


"Ouch. That is now way to talk to the man in charge of your undies."


Ember rolled her eyes and stomped out of the room, probably to plan some kind of revenge on me. I busted out laughing as Alex plopped down beside me on the couch, his own laughter falling from his lips.


"That was the worst prank you've ever pulled."


"I was on a time limit," I shrugged. "Plus, I was just trying to get out of laundry duty."


Alex rolled his eyes and propped his feet up on the table. I knew Ember would be planning a counter attack, and damnit, I was ready for it. She'd learn soon enough that no one, and I mean no one, wins a war with Jack Barakat.
