So Wrong, It's Right

Let The Games Begin

I walked back to my room with some more resolved. This house had been such a stressed out environment, and now I realize I'm not the only one feeling like that. Jack and I were not only pissing each other off, but really putting our parents off balance too. As much as I don't wanna accept Joyce as my new mom, I can't just write her off as a bad person either.

Plus, she sounded....like she really did love my dad. Which kinda sucked because now I could feel guilty for being so mean about her. I guess, it would take some maturing to make this work. I still didn't like Jack, not one bit. He has been such an ass, granted, I've been a 'mouth bitch' as he put it, but still. He started this at the wedding, and I never back down from anyone.

Before I went into my own room, I looked down towards Jack's. Maybe, we could fake it till our parents leave. I could keep my mouth shut when I tried hard enough, I'm sure he could too. Deciding just to get it over with, I walked over to his closed door and knocked.

“Yeah?” He yelled from inside.
“It's Ember.” I called, and there was some shuffling before the door swung open.
“What do you want?” He asked, looking annoyed. I rolled my eyes.
“Just to talk.” I said. “Look, my dad talk to me, and I may have heard your mom talking to you.”
“Okay?” He drawled.
“I think, we should try to just chill out and get along in front of them. I don't feel like ruining anything else for my dad, it's clear how stressed he is and our relationship is getting worse the longer we're here.”
“You I don't feel the same about my mom?”
“I know you do, that's why I'm offering to do this.”
“And what happened after our parents leave?”
“Then you go back to being some dickhead who lives with me.”
“Correction, you live with me. My house, it's gonna be my rules.” He stated.
“We'll see about that.” I said, narrowing my eyes. “ Night Jack.”
“Night Elf.” He smirked, and I flipped him off before returning to my room.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~The next morning, I decided to go to breakfast when Joyce called. I didn't feel like changing out of my night gear, it was just sweats and a tank top anyway. I threw on a bra, just in case Jack decided to come out of his room too. When I walked out, sure enough, I saw his figure already decending the stairs.

Day 1. Here we go.

I walked in right as I saw my dad at the table, Jack sitting down, and Joyce at the stove.

“You kids decided to join us today?” My dad asked, and I took a seat next to Jack.
“Yeah,” I said, before looking over. “Morning, Jack.”
“Uhh, morning.” He said, looking me over. I sent him a look, asking him to try harder. “How'd you sleep.”
“Much better after our talk.
“You guys finally talked things out?” Joyce said, smiling as she started laying down plates. “I am so glad.”
“Yeah mom, it was just a misunderstanding.” Jack answered her, I nodded in agreement to his statement.
“Jack admitted he was being rude at the wedding.” I added, and felt him kick me under the table.
“And Ember apologize for being so moody.” He said, glaring at me. Luckily, neither of our parents were really paying attention.
“Good to hear it, son.” My dad said, and that made my blood boil. This kid was not his. I was.

The look on Jack's face said he agreed with me on that. I didn't expect Jack to like my dad, per say, considering I didn't care for him mom either. So I decided to let it go and dug into my food. Breakfast soon turned into the adults talking more than us, mentioning their plans a bit.

“I'm done.” Jack said, getting up and grabbing his plate.
“And I have to head to work.” My dad said, leaning over and kissing Joyce. I almost wanted to make a gagging noise. Almost.

Getting up, I jumped at the sound of Jack suddenly speaking behind me.

“Oh how nice of you to offer Ember, of course you can do that dishes.” He smirked, and I felt my jaw dropped. Joyce and Dad looked over at me and I put on a quick smile.
“Of course bro.” I said sweetly. “After all, you did say you'd do all the laundry today.”

Joyce awwed before leaving the room with my father, and I gave Jack a condensing smile. He leaned over and mumbled n my ear.

“It's on, brat.”
“Anytime, douche.” I said back, shoving him away from me.

This was gonna be a long week before our 'rents finally leave.
