Oh Life
Eleven.
Ashley POV:
After a couple of hours, Alex woke me up. "Ash?" he said softly and kissed my head. "Hm?" I mumbled and opened my eyes. "How are you feeling?" he asked. I sat up and yawned. "Much better." I answered and he smiled. "Good. I'm sorry to wake you but everyone will be here in 2 hours, I figured you might need some time to get ready?" "Yeah, I should probably get ready." I ran a hand through my hair and Alex leaned in for a kiss. I smiled and kissed him deeply. "I'm gonna take a shower." I said. I gave him a kiss on his cheek and walked upstairs.
I took my clothes off and turned on the shower. The hot water made me shiver at first, but it was nice and relaxing. It was a good thing that I was better now, because I was looking forward to seeing Emily and the boys again. I would've hated it if I had to cancel. After I'd washed my hair and body and shaved everything that needed to be shaved, I stepped out of the shower and wrapped a towel around my naked body. I dried my hair a bit and walked to the bedroom to find some clothes. I tried on several outfits but it took me a long time before I finally found the perfect one. I walked back to the bathroom to do my hair. I decided to make a braid, since I knew Alex liked that. When my hair was done, I had a couple of minutes left for my make-up. I looked for my small toiletry kit with my make-up in it. When I opened it, it wasn't my mascara and eyeliner that caught my eye, but the small package of tampons. I started counting in my head. No. No no no no no. This couldn't be true. I was late, my period.. It was late. It started to make sense now. Morning sickness and my period that was late.. Oh god. "Ashley? Everything okay in there? Everyone is already here." I held onto the sink and took a deep breath. "Yeah, everything is fine. I'll be down in a minute." My voice was trembling and I could only hope Alex hadn't noticed. I put on some mascara and eyeliner and looked in the mirror for one last time before going downstairs. It took me a lot of effort to hold back my tears, but I had to. I couldn't tell Alex, at least not yet.
"Happy birthday!" Emily said and hugged me tightly. "Thanks." I smiled. "Happy birthday, Ashley." Zack said and hugged me as well. "Happy birthday, girl." Cassadee smiled. "Thank you." I answered. Everyone congratulated me and I hugged everyone. We sat down in the couch and Alex gave everyone a glass of champagne. When he handed me my glass, I shook my head. "No thanks, I don't think alcohol is a good idea today." I said to him. Emily sat next to me and I saw she was looking at Jack. "Are you going to be okay tonight?" I asked her. "Yeah, I'll be fine." she smiled. "Let's not worry about me, it's your night!" she added.
"Well, I think it's time for Ashley to open her presents!" Noah said after an hour. He handed me his gift and grinned. I unwrapped it and smiled at him. It was the DVD box of 'American Horror Story: Asylum'. "How did you know I watch that?" I asked him. "Alex told me." he admitted. "Thank you so much, Noah." I said. Cassadee handed me the next present. "It's from Rian and me. I hope you like it." she smiled. I opened it and saw it was a new phone case for my iPhone and a hair straightener. "Thank you." I smiled. Zack was next and his gift was a bottle of my favourite wine. I thanked him and the next present was from Emily. "Ooh, thank you so much. You remembered I needed new perfume!" She grinned and I pulled her into a big hug. "And now it's time for my present!" Jack said. "First this one." I unwrapped it quickly. "It's the only one ever made." He said proudly. It was a shirt of JAGK that he had made especially for me. "Oooh, thank you Jack!" He handed me a small box. "There's more." he grinned. I opened the small box and Jack started laughing. Condoms. Everyone laughed at Jack's gift, but I didn't think it was funny at all. My hands were sweaty and shaking and I stood up from the couch. "Excuse me." I said and walked out of the room. As soon as I was out of sight, I started running. I ran upstairs and closed the bathroom door behind me.
I started crying and sat down on the cold floor against the wall. I let the tears stream down my face and didn't try to stop them. I couldn't be pregnant, that couldn't be true. What was I supposed to do? Should I tell Alex? No, absolutely not. What if he gets angry? I started crying even harder and a couple of minutes later, someone knocked on the door. "Ashley, are you alright?" It was Jack. I didn't want to answer, so I just stayed quiet, hoping he would leave. Ofcourse he didn't, instead he opened the door. When he saw me -a complete mess- sitting on the floor, crying, he got a worried expression on his face. "Ashley, oh my god, what's wrong?" he asked, and walked over towards me. "Is it because of my present? I'm sorry, I didn't want to.." "It's not because of that." I sobbed. He sat down next to me and I started sobbing in his chest. Surprised, he started rubbing my back softly and stroking my hair. "Shh." he whispered. "Tell me what's wrong." I looked up at him and he wiped away my tears with his thumb. "Jack.. I-I think I'm pregnant." I cried.
