You Felt It Once Before

Where There Is A Flame

"Excuse me? Excuse me!"

My stomach was tied in knots, and my heavy heart was making it hard to breathe. The crowd and all the hateful things they said to me were stuck in my head. I almost hit the floor when Alex disappeared out of my sight, but a pair of soft hands caught me and dragged me away from the scene.

Those hands belonged to Charlotte Riggle, the leading photographer for the magazine. I had no idea she'd even been sent here tonight, but I couldn't be more thankful for it. She and I had worked together many times before. Her happy attitude when it came to pictures seemed to lighten the seriousness in my interviews.

I didn't know where we were at the moment. The floor was dirty, there was a large checkered couch that was ripped to bits, and a bar against the biggest wall. Perhaps this was the break room for the venue employee's, and if it was, I felt sorry for them. Behind us was a door with a curtain- The door we'd entered through, and in front of us was another door. The one that All Time Low had took hiding behind. If only they'd taken the time to meet Charlotte, they'd know it would take a lot more than a door to keep her away. I watched her closely. She was on a mission to get things done.

Her knee-high boots clicked against the floor, and her black dress flipped out a little every time she would bang on the door. Her burgendy curls were whipping around her head when she growled. Charlotte was a happy person, but she wasn't someone you'd want to piss off.

"I'm not going to risk getting fired because your pussy frontman had a meltdown, open the damn door!"

There was a brief moment of silence. Char had been banging on that door for ten minutes, and finally, Matt Flyzik came flying through the once locked door. His cheeks were a dark shade of pink, and his dark eyes narrowed on her figure. To say he was fuming would be an understatement. I didn't know Matt personally, I didn't even know much about the guy, I just knew what my boss told me so I could seem polite and interested.

"What are you not understanding? If the show isn't going on, neither is the damn interview or photoshoot!"

"See, that's where you're wrong," Char put her hands on her hips and locked her knee in. "If I don't get this shoot in, that's gonna cost me money, and if you cost me money, buddy, I'm gonna pull it out of your rear end. Now I don't know what happened between your guys and my gal, but we're gonna put it aside long enough for each of us to get through this shitty night, got it?"

"No, I don't 'got it.' What are you even doing here, anyway?"

The attention was turned on me. What right did this man have to attack me? I'd never done anything to him. I shook my head and pushed the blonde strands away from my face. Maybe it was a bad idea to chase Alex. If I had turned into a broken-hearted mess, Charlotte probably would have dragged me out for some air and let the night go.

"I don't even know you," I finally spoke, with my attention directly on Matt. "You have no right to attack me, and you certainly don't have a right to attack Char. I didn't plan to be here tonight, I didn't even ask for this interview, but sometimes that's part of doing your job, isn't it? Doing things you don't really want to do?"

"I don't care. You are not getting a minute with this band. It is my job to take care of them and protect them, and I'll do just that. It would be smart for you to leave before I call security."

A silence fell over us. I could see how angry Char was, and Matt was right, it would be smart to get her out of here before she caused anymore of a scene. I don't know why I thought chasing after Alex would be a good idea. Naturally, he wouldn't want to see me. I suppose when it came to the flame of love, mine was the only one still burning.

"I'll do it."

Slowly, I turned my eyes to the figure standing just behind Matt. Was he out of his mind? He still wore a pained expression, but Alexander William looked so confident in that moment. He glanced down to Matt and nodded his head. He looked angry, but the dark hair man stepped out of the way to let the lead singer through.

"Come on, Jenna."

Notes

I know, it's short. But I need to hook you guys in. ;]
Feedback? Do you think Alex should forgive her, or beat her in the face with an empty beer bottle?
Ohh, the options! lol.
