I wanna feel weightless

*Zack’s POV*

I woke up early as planned. I had to pick up Rian but I lied about what it was for. I was meeting the guys and we were skipping school to talk to Elizabeth’s mom. I was already set to go but I figured I’d wake up Elizabeth on my way out. I walked to Elizabeth’s room but she wasn’t there. I walked down the hall to find she was already in the shower. I went to knock on the door and let her know I was leaving but stopped myself when I heard crying. I hate when she cries. I want so bad to go in and hug her but I can’t deviate from the plan. We had to talk to Lizzy’s mom as soon as possible, if not she’ll be leaving tomorrow. I said goodbye to my mom and left to pick up Rian.


*Elizabeth’s POV*

I woke up and immediately hopped in the shower. I was crying the whole time. I barely stopped crying long enough to get some sleep last night, or maybe I didn’t stop crying at all, but when I woke up the tears definitely resumed. I got out and got dressed for the day. Here it is the day I leave my boys. I got my bags that I packed yesterday and set them outside the door, behind a bush, so I could drive by later and pick them up. I found Mrs. Merrick and we started the drive to school. We arrived at the school, I said goodbye, gave her a hug and walked away. I tried so hard not to cry but right as I walked into the school the tears started to slip out. I’m usually not the crying typed, not in public anyway, so this is weird and annoying. I shuffled into first period only to notice that Jack wasn’t here.

“I hope he’s not sick.” I thought to myself.

I went through second and third period with the same thing. Second period, no Rian or Alex and third period no Zack, no Rian, and no Jack. I don’t know what’s going on but I don’t have time to figure it out. I have to leave. I pulled out my phone and texted John.

I’m ready.

I walked outside and waited, sure enough ten minutes later, John and Aunt Karen were here. We said our hellos and I realized how much I missed them. John was only about a year younger than me and Aunt Karen always used to buy me music. When I was little, that time when my mom still controlled me, yeah, she hated my music back then too so Aunt Karen had to buy it for me. After we hugged for a little bit I directed them to the Merrick’s house so I could get my bags. When we pulled up to the house I could see all the boys’ cars in the driveway. I hesitated and considered walking inside. After a minute I decided against it and turned to go. I looked at the house one more time and said goodbye. I suddenly registered that I was fumbling with the necklace that Zack gave me. With the exception of a group photo of the five of us, and 4 pictures of me with each individual boy, this necklace would be all I had to remind me of Zack. I quickly went to the car and we were off.


*Zack’s POV*

After I picked up Rian we all decided to go get breakfast. We couldn’t be reasonable and plead with Lizzy’s mom on an empty stomach. After picking up breakfast we went back to my house to eat and figure out how we were going to reason with the evil hag. We almost wanted to bribe her with alcohol but my mom would never allow that, well none of our moms for that matter. We decided to just go and wing it.

*At Elizabeth’s house*

We walked up to the house and knocked… nothing. We knocked again and still nothing. In the middle of the third knock someone opened the door. It was a man but that didn’t surprise me, Elizabeth’s mom slept around a lot, especially with guys older than her.

“Who the hell are you and what are you doing knocking on the door so early?”

I could tell her wasn’t going to make this easy, who knows what they were in the middle of. Alex spoke first.

“Uh, yeah, my friends and I would like to speak to Ruth, uh, please.”

“RUTH!” the man screamed through the house as he ushered us in, “You have some visitors.”

“Aww, hell, who the fuck is it now?” We heard back

“Some kids who want to speak to you.”

Right as the last words crossed his lips we saw her walk down the stairs in nothing but I t-shirt and underwear.

“Hell, it’s you little fuckers again. What do you want?”

“Zack, dude, tell her.” Alex whispered in my ear as he tired to nudge me forward

“Uh, Ms. Ruth, we wanted to talk to you about Elizabeth.”

She just started to laugh.

“What the fuck do you want with that fat little hoe, she’ll be in Texas soon and none of us will have to deal with her little whore ass again.”

“Okay, look you FUCKING DRUNK CUN-“ Alex pulled me back and Jack started to speak.

“Ms. Ruth, we want her to stay here, we don’t want her to leave tomorrow and we wer-“

Jack stopped abruptly when she started laughing again.

“WHAT THE FUCK IS SO FUNNY YOU STUPID BITCH!” I yelled

“Oh my God.” She barely got out as she tried to catch her breath from how hard she was laughing, “She’s fucking gone, I told you she’ll be in Texas soon.”

“You’re fucking lying.” Rian piped up

“Why the fuck would I lie about that waste of air leaving? You can call her and ask her that is if she picks up her phone. She texted my nephew yesterday asking him to pick her up from school today.”

We all started to speak at once.

“You’re fucking lying.” Rian whispered

“She wouldn’t do that to us.” said Alex

“But she’s ours.” Muttered Jack

“But I love her.” I cried out, “You know, if I was a girl or you were a guy, you’d be in the fucking floor right now, it’s your fault she’s gone.”

Out of nowhere, Ruth’s old man fuck buddy was back.

“Don’t worry,” he said deviously, “I’ll make sure she gets it nice and rough.”

After he sickened us, we left the house and quickly drove to the school.
