(Alex's POV)

When I was finished writing today's agenda and notes on the board, I went over to my desk to print out Jacks notes in braille for when he came back. What I was not expecting was for him to come back today.

I heard his familiar voice walking down the quiet halls with who it sounded like Cassadee and they soon walked into my classroom.

"Jack, welcome back!" I said walking up to him and hugging him.

"Nice to see you." He said quietly.

"Why are you here so early?" I ask and he sighs.

"I'm just sore and didn't feel like getting bumped into in the halls." He explained and I hummed.

"Well you, my friend are far behind. So we need to get you caught up. Do you maybe want to go to like Starbucks or the book store where it's quiet and everything?" I ask and he smiles.

"Starbucks sounds good." He said blushing.

"I guess if it's okay with your mother, I'll drive you there and home?"

"Yeah, sounds great." He said smiling and found his seat when the bell rang and people started flowing in.

The bell rang signaling the end of the school day. Jack seemed very restless seeing he doesn't leave my class all day except for lunch since I teach him all of his subjects.

He sighed, putting his head down while I called his mom to ask if it was okay to take him to Starbucks to catch up and how i'd bring him home. She said yes, telling me he has money in his wallet but I told her if he wanted anything that I'd pay for him and bring him home later.

I looked up to see Jacks head still on his desk, leg slightly shaking.

"You okay?" I ask while fixing my bow tie.

Jacks head shot up. "Huh?!" He shouted really loud.

"You fell asleep, didn't you." I asked and he blushed.

"Well your mom said you can go so let's go. Oh and I'm buying you coffee. No ifs, and's, or buts." I said and he just flailed his arms around me.

"Yeah, yeah."

The ride to Starbucks was fun. It consisted of singing and lots of laughter.

When I parked and got out, I watched Jack carefully to make sure he didn't trip or anything.

"I can feel you staring at me." He said as he swung his backpack over his shoulder and stepped over the curb. "I know my way around here." He reasured and I held the door open for him.

When we got our coffees, I picked the large booth to sit at and Jack took out all of his books.

"What do you want to start with?" He asks and I sighed, thinking.

"Let's get Algebra out of the way." I said as I pulled out his notes and he groaned which made me laugh and shake my head.

"So basically with the fractions you need to just make sure you have to common denominators before you try and do anything else, okay? Do you know how to do that?" I ask and he nodded slowly, and started to run his hands over the raised bumps to read the word problem. I smiled cause that showed me he wasn't making me do all his work. I just might give him extra credit point for that.

Jack shot his hands up in the air when I graded all of his algebra and he got a high B which was not something he was used to.

"I'm proud of you, Jack. Now let's move on to English." I said and he smiled cause that is his favorite subject.

"Do you want to read a book or write a poem or song of some sort. I bought you a book of Edgar Allan Poe poems in braille." I asked and he scrunched up his nose.

"I'll write a song. But can I take the book home to read?" He asks and I hummed.

"What does it have to be about?" He asks.

"Um, I'll let you do whatever you wan't." I said and he nods.

I was minding my own business while Jack was skillfully writing down his lyrics when a boy I recognized from school came up to us.

It was a fairly short ginger kind and he cleared his throat trying to get Jacks attention.

"Um?" Jack said and looked over to his side.

"Hey, Jack right?" The ginger asked and he nodded.

"Who are you?" Jack asked and the boys face fell.

"Alan, from school." He said shyly.

"Sorry, I'm blind." Jack joked.

Alan looked honestly confused.

"I didn't know, I'm sorry. A-anyway, I was w-wondering if you wanted t-to maybe go get some ice cream with me or something this weekend, you know, kind of like a date?" He asks, fiddling with his fingers.

I felt anger started to bubble inside of me and I guess Jack sensed it cause he reached his hand under the table and rested it on my knee.

"I'm sorry, Alan. I'm not really interested. Thanks for asking though. Maybe some other time, yeah?" Jack said and Alan's face fell.

"Oh, O-okay." Alan said quietly and walked away.

"Alex." Jack said to me and reached over to rest his hand on my cheek, gently rubbing it with his thumb.

"You could of gone." I said while shuffling papers around trying to neaten them.

"I didn't want to. I'd rather go on a date with you." Jack said shyly and I blushed.

"Are you asking me on a date?" I asked.

"Maybe." He said laughing, continuing to write his song.

"We need to get you home." I said as I saw the sun slowly setting, not realizing how late it actually was.

"Okay." Jack said and started to pack up his stuff, then finished off his coffee that was probably cold.

I pulled up to Jacks house and he undid his seat belt.

"Thanks for getting me caught up. I appreciate it." He said and I smiled.

"No problem."

Jack smiled and quickly leaned over to kiss my cheek but kind of missed, making him kiss the curve of my nose and he laughed before getting out of my car to walk into his house.

Okay so here is a new chapter :) I finished Remembering Sunday yesterday and I think I killed everybody....
