I'll See You In My Dreams
Chapter 9
I sighed at the extreme tugging that Cassadee was doing with my hair.
"Have you figured out what you're gonna do to it?" I asked and she hummed.
"I'm tempted to dye it..." She said and I whipped my head around, "No!"
"Okay, Okay, geez! I won't, I'll just straighten it." She said and I nodded letting her run my moms straightener through my hair.
"Finished." She said, clapping her hands together.
"Thanks, Cass." I said and stood up to walk back into my room.
"I picked out this outfit for you." She said and handed me the clothes.
"What is it?" I asked while pulling my previous shirt over my head and slipped on the new one but having a bit of trouble buttoning it.
"Dark maroon button up, black skinny jeans, and I have two ties. One is a black normal time and the other is a black bow tie."
I told her I wanted the bow tie once I finished getting dressed and she put it on for me.
"You should have really gone with Alan, Jacky. That boy really likes you." Cassadee said and I sighed.
"I don't even know him, Cass. Plus I didn't want to go with anybody." That was a lie. My thoughts flicking to Alex but I couldn't go with him cause hey, teacher.
"Rian and I would have watched out for you, you know. At least dance with him?" Cass said and I sighed again.
"Maybe." Lie.
"Well c'mon, our ride is here." She said as we heard a car roll up into the drive way, tires on gravel.
Rian and Zack was already at the door when we got there, mom apparently already ready to take pictures.
"Got this for you, Jack." Rian said handing me a box.
"What is it?" I asked as Cassadee took it from me and I heard the box being popped open.
"It's a corsage. It matches your shirt." Rian said and I smiled as Cass pinned it to my shirt.
"Cass has one like it but it's purple to match her dress but she wears it on her wrist like a bracelet."
"Thanks, man." I said smiling.
My mom gushed at how cute we all were and started to take pictures.After 500 pictures later, we were finally leaving to go back to the high school.

The music was loud and I could tell it was very crowded. I automatically hated it. Cassadee linked arms with me and she ran off with me to dance but I declined, already feeling my anxiety take over. She whined in protest but walked me to a table in the corner to sit down.
I was tapping my feet to the beat of the music which was 'Dammit' By Blink when somebody tapped my shoulder.
My head whipped around and the person coughed.
"Jack, it's Alan. Do you at least want to dance with me? Please, just one song." he pleased and I sighed, standing up and he took my hand and pulled me onto the dance floor which was the fairly large cafeteria.
Alan was obviously laughing and having a great time and I was attempting. He grabbed my hands and started spinning us around and I couldn't help but laugh when but that ended quickly when he let go and I was sent back, falling hard on my ass. I was caught off guard and started feeling people bumping into me, stepping on my legs and hands.
"Alan? Alan!" I screamed, tears threatening to spill from my blurred over eyes but he never answered.
I just got ditched, awesome.
I felt strong arms pick me up, and a whiff of perfume and knew it was Cassadee and Rian.
"Come with us." Cassadee said and I nodded, lacing my hand with Cass' in a friendly manner, following the both of them.
We stopped in the main hall here it was a lot quieter but you could still hear the soft echo of the music.
"We're going to play a game, Jack, but you're the only player, got it?" Cass said and I nodded slowly, running my hands in my hair.
"How do I play? What kind of game is it?" I ask, folding my arms.
"It's kind of like a scavenger hunt, but you'll feel around for notes. You'll be able to find them, don't worry. Rian said and I nodded again.
"Okay, to find the first note, take 15 steps then feel the stair case until you find the first note." Cass said and I began to take the required steps, reaching the stair case fairly quickly and I ran my hands up and down the railing till I felt a envelope and pulled it off and opened it.
I ran my fingers over the paper, it saying:
"Who will it be, you soon will see, take 25 more steps to get your next clue."
I cocked a eyebrow up and went to the bottom of the paper and it also had the word:
"May"
I counted the steps, soon reaching a door and knew it was my teachers door. I pulled off the envelope and read it.
"I already ran out of rhymes, so here is your next step; Turn around and take 45 steps ." I was still confused and I read what it had under it:
"I have"
I took the 45 steps and reached a door that I knew lead to the outside parking lot which was right next to the athletic hallway. I felt another note on the door knob and unfolded it, reading:
"You're almost on fire, Jack! 10 more steps...." I turned to the direction of Cass and she giggled.
"This" The bottom of the note read and I opened the door, cold air hitting me, taking the 10 long strides before I ran into the hood of a car, feeling another note.
All it read was, "Dance."
I was now very confused, replaying all the notes in my head and realizing it all together said: "May I have this dance."
I smiled when I felt a presence in front of me grabbing my hands.
"May I have this dance, Jack?" A familiar voice asked and I nodded.
"Yes, Alex." I said and I felt him reach into his car to turn on his stereo.
"You kinda suck at rhyming." I said and he laughed, pushing the hair out of my eyes.
"I know."
Alex tured up the stereo and 'Blink 182's I miss you', started to flow through the speakers.
"I didn't know if this was a good slow dance dong but I knew you liked Blink." He said and I blushed.
"Hello there, the angel from my nightmare
The shadow in the background of the morgue
The unsuspecting victim of darkness in the valley
We can live like Jack and Sally if we want"
Alex placed my arms around his neck and put his hands on my hips and we started to sway to the beat of the music.

This sick, strange darkness
Comes creeping on so haunting every time"
I started giggling when I had absolutely no idea what I was doing but Alex seemed to be enjoying himself, rubbing his thumbs into my protruding hip bones while we continued to sway.
"I noticed one thing with the notes, Lex" I said and he hummed, nudging his nose against my cheek.
"That is?"
"You said 'you soon will see'." I said laughing and I felt him shrug.
"I was feeling it. Don't ruin the moment." He said and I giggled, placing my head on his shoulder.
"Don't waste your time on me you're already the voice inside my head"
"Why did you do this, Lex?" I asked and looked up at him blankly wishing I could see his beautiful face.
"This dance?" He said and I nodded.
"I wanted to ask you to homecoming but I didn't think that'd go well with the school so I thought i'd treat you to a dance." he said and I blushed madly, dipping my head down to try and hide it.
The song ended and we felt the soft pitter patter of rain starting to drop down on the hood of Alex's car and onto ourselves. I yelled in excitement when one of my favorite songs blared through the speakers.
"There's a place off Ocean Avenue

We were both 16 and it felt so right

I now didn't care and was jumping around like a maniac, splashing in the puddles, singing along to the music.
"Dance with me, Lex!" I yelled and I heard him run over to me and we were both jumping around together.

We were soaked, still running around in the parking lot, me surprisingly not running into anything and having lots of fun.
We stopped dead center of the parking lot according to Alex, out of breath smiling at each other.
"Now you could say this is one of those sappy love movies." Alex said and I cocked my eyebrow up.
"Why?" I asked.
"Cause they do this." He said and pulled me me closer to his face by my chin, slotting my lips with his.
When Alex pulled away we heard clapping coming from behind us.
"It's Cassadee, Rian, and Zack." Alex said and I laughed quietly.
We ran under the covered porch area where they were standing away from the rain.
"Mr. Gaskarth kissing Jack Barakat. Never thought i'd see that." Zack said and Alex breathed out a laugh.
"So are you two a thing?" Rian asked and I blushed, hiding behind Alex's body.
"I would hope so." I said quietly and Cassadee squealed.
Alex laughed and pulled me out from behind him and into his side, wet clothes sticking to our bodies.
"Well let's go to the teachers lounge. I have extra clothes for me and I have something you could wear. I want to take you out to dinner." and I nodded.
"Condom!" Rian yelled and I groaned.
"Shut up!" Alex and I yelled in unison and walked into the building, music surrounding us.
