Emily POV:
"Goodmorning!" Jack said when I entered the bathroom to take a shower. "Goodmorning." I smiled and gave him a kiss on his cheek. When he finished doing his hair he walked out of the bathroom to let me take my shower. I was a bit confused, did he forget about my birthday? I let it go and got ready for another day at the beach.
"Hey Emily, hey Jack!" Ashley walked towards us, holding hands with Alex. "Hey guys!" Jack said enthusiastically and hugged them. "Hey." I mumbled and gave them a hug, too. This couldn't be true, Ashley forgetting my birthday, too? I could forgive Alex, he probably didn't know. But Ashley? And Jack? "So, today is my turn to choose what we're going to do. Aaaaand.. We're going on a banana boat!" Ashley squealed. "Awesome!" Jack answered. "Great." I said, faking a smile.
"We all know I'm going to win this, even without using my hands." Jack bragged. Alex punched his arm. "Yeah, sure. I'm the best one at this, everyone knows that." We put on our life jackets, which was required, otherwise I would never wear these filthy things. Ashley sat in front, I took place behind her. Jack came to sit behind me and so was Alex last. The boat started and everyone was laughing and having fun, while I sat there, feeling quite horrible. I wished the day would be over soon. I just couldn't believe that even Ashley had forgotten about my birthday. She was my bestfriend for god's sake. But no, now she had Alex and Alex was perfect and Alex this, Alex that.. I was so fucking angry. I just let go of the banana and let myself fall into the water, I didn't feel like having fun with them right now.
Jack POV:
I felt kinda bad for Emily. I could see she wasn't feeling well because she thought we all forgot her birthday. Ashley was also feeling bad, she wanted to congratulate her bestfriend with her birthday, but I'd asked her and Alex to pretend we forgot her birthday. It was all part of the plan. After we did the banana boat thing, she went back to the beach house because 'she was feeling sick'. But we all knew the real reason. "You better planned something super amazing that she will never forget, otherwise I'll personally slap you in the face, Barakat." Ashley stood beside me. "I promise, it'll be worth it. I have to go now, just make sure she'll be there at 7, okay?" She nodded and I walked towards the boat that was waiting for me.
