Olivia POV:

“Alright baby, I’ll pick you up after work.” Alex told me through the window before he drove off. I walked into the building and headed over to the all too familiar elevators. I pressed the button before I was greeted by someone.

“Morning Olivia,” Liz chirped.

“Hey, you seem happier than usual.” I pointed out before we stepped into the elevator. She pressed the button for our floor and smiled at me. Her curls bounced as she moved about the place.

“My friend is going to be visiting me today.” She couldn’t stop smiling.

“Oh wow, all day?” I asked.

“Yep, I got him a visitors pass and everything!” She squealed. The door opened and we stepped down the hallway and into our office. Our desks faced each other and I was really happy to have her as an office mate. We both had our own columns to write every month but we also had to help with the photo shoots to go along with them at times. I didn’t even need college courses anymore, to hell with them. All they do is get in the way of my amazing job.

“Coffee run!” Dave popped his head through the door happily.

“I’ll have the usual, thanks.” Liz smiled.

“Hmm, I think I’ll mix it up today and get a pumpkin spice latte.” I told him.

“Oooh,” he rubbed his chin, “That sounds really good. I think I’ll copy you today.”

“Alright, thanks.” I laughed.

“No problem.” He went back out the door and down to the coffee shop. Dave worked on the sports and exercise part of the magazine. I’ve always liked him; he became a good friend of mine since I started working here. I started up the computer and started to look around my desk for my idea pad. I was stoked about writing the column for the winter. Thankfully I was teamed up with Liz on this one. We pretty much had similar tastes and she was so easy for me to collaborate with. My phone buzzed and I looked down at the caller ID, it was Cass.

“Hey.” I answered simply.

“I need your help.” She sounded a little frantic.

“Are you okay?” I sat up in my seat.

“No I can’t decide between blue hydrangeas or white roses for the bouquet.” I could hear her freak out over the other line.

“Why don’t you just get both?” I suggested. “They’d look beautiful together.”

“Both?” She stopped for a second. “Why didn’t I think of that?”

“Stress is probably getting in the way.” I placed the phone in-between my shoulder and ear so I could multi task.

“Well I think we’ll do that for the bouquets and what about the centerpieces?” She started to panic again. “What do you think?”

“I don’t know, why don’t you do the same thing?” I asked.

“No that would be way too matchey.” She sighed.

“How about,” I searched Google for some good pictures of centerpieces, “White hydrangeas and a little bit of grape hyacinth to add a dash of blue?” I liked how they looked.

“Oh my gosh Olivia,” she gasped, “You’re a genius! I don’t know how this wedding would go without you.”

“It would be terrible and no one would go.” I laughed. “I’m joking by the way.”

“I was hoping you were.” She let out a sigh of relief before laughing.

“Aright well I have to start working now.” I told her.

“Oh my gosh I forgot you were at work!” She gasped. “I wouldn’t have called you if I didn’t forget.”

“Okay,” I laughed, “See you when I get home.” I hung up and looked back at my computer screen.

“Was that Cassadee?” Liz peeked at me from behind her computer screen.

“Yep, she was having flower problems.” I pulled up a document I’d been working on.

“Sounds like you solved it.” She laughed.

“Back with coffee.” Dave walked into the room and set our coffees down on our desks.

“Thanks Dave,” I smiled up at him.

“Yeah, thanks.” Liz started to drink her coffee.

“Knock knock!” Someone walked into the room. He looked familiar, it couldn’t be-

“DREW!” Liz jumped out of her seat and into his arms. “I haven’t seen you in so long.”

“I know, sorry I’ve been in New York.” He let go of her and looked over in my direction, “Oh my god; Olivia Dawson?”

“The one and only.” I got up and laughed.

“You two know each other?” Liz asked.

“We pretty much grew up together.” Drew pulled me into a hug. “It sucked when I moved away.”

“Oh please, you left us all behind.” I rolled my eyes.

“And when I went back, you were gone!” He laughed.

“Funny how things work,” I went back to my seat and continued to look throughout the document for any mistakes. It would be the first draft that I sent to my boss this week.

“Well if you would’ve kept in touch.” He laughed.

“I kept in touch with Kristi, but I didn’t think that you’d want to be bothered.” I shrugged.

“So you kept in touch with my sister and not me?” He sat down on my desk.

“She is my best friend.” I turned my chair towards him. “Now go spend time with Liz, she’s been super excited all morning.”

“Lunch delivery!” Alex walked into the room.

“Oh hey babe.” I got up and kissed him quickly.

“Who’s this?” He nodded towards Drew.

“Oh this is Liz’s friend Drew; we also grew up next door to each other.” I explained.

“Was your block full of good looking people?” He laughed. “Hey I’m Alex.” He shook Drew’s hand and turned back to me.

“So are you two dating?” Drew asked.

“It’s been official since August.” Alex smiled proudly.

“You’re a lucky guy.” Drew smiled.

“Tell me about it.” Alex laughed. “So I uh only brought enough for three…” He stood awkwardly. “I can always go back and pick you up something.”

“Oh don’t worry about it,” Liz stood up, “Dave always has a spare lunch in the fridge. I’ll go grab it.” She left the room to grab the lunch for Drew.

“Hey Alex,” Dave walked into the room.

“Oh hey man, what’s up?” Alex pulled him into a bro hug.

“I just got some sick ravens gear in and I was wondering if you wanted to come check it out.” Dave said.

“Oh sweet,” Alex grabbed his lunch out of the bag and kissed me on the cheek. “I’ll be back later.”

“Alright,” I went back to my chair and pulled out my usual lunch that I get from Panera bread. Thank the lord for hot soup and bread.

“Okay here you go,” Liz handed Drew a hot plate with pasta and chicken. “Where’d Alex go?”

“To go look at sporty things with Dave,” I explained.

“Of course they are.” She rolled her eyes and took her lunch out. She always got salads, I’ll never understand. And Alex got some sort of sandwich every single time. I sighed and started to eat my lunch as I worked through my emails.

Notes

Intoducing some new (well not really) characters into the series! They'll be added when they're introduced because I don't want to spoil anything.
