Thirty One
Olivia POV:
“Good morning sunshine.” Alex was massaging my back.
“Mmm… Good morning.” I rolled over so I could look at him.
“What do you say to some breakfast?” He tilted his head a bit and smiled.
“I think I’d have to say yes to that face.” I got up and put on my swimsuit and threw some clothes on over it.
“Ready?” Alex was sitting on the bed and playing something on his phone.
“Yes,” I smiled and walked with him downstairs.
“Where are you two going?” Val smirked as she was sitting quietly on the couch.
“Out to get some breakfast, want to come along?” I asked.
“No thanks, you guys go out and eat some food, Beau and I were going to go four wheeling around the island at noon, you’re welcome to join us if you’d like.” She smiled.
“Oh sure, we’ll be back here in a little while, just going out to eat.” Alex guided me out of the house and down the little path towards the restaurant that was right in the center of the island. He held my hand the entire walk down the path and retrieved us some omelets from the omelet bar while I went to get some coffee. We met each other at a table outside so we could have a view while we ate.
“So what are you thinking of Fiji so far?” Alex asked once we were settled down in our seats.
“It’s amazing,” I reached my hand across the table and set it on top of his, “but it’s so much better with you.” He just smiled and nodded.
“I love you Alex.” I told him, “I really do.”
“I love you too Liv, I love you too.” He leaned over the table and placed a gentle kiss on my lips.

“Yes!” Beau jumped up and down as the vehicles were brought in front of us. I had never really driven one of these before, so it would surely be an adventure.
“So are we following a guide around?” Val was all about getting the details. The guide explained how things were going to work. He said that we just had to tell him what we were interested in so he could personalize a tour for our enjoyment. Alex and I left that up to Val and Beau, we didn’t want to ruin their fun since it was originally going to be just the two of them in the first place.
But there was a problem. Since it was just supposed to be them, there were three four wheelers, including the guide’s. Alex sat down on one of them and patted the space behind him.
“Come join me,” he smiled. I went behind him and wrapped my arms around his waist and rested my chin on his shoulder so I could see the view in front of us. The guide had started going and we followed along, intrigued to know where he was taking us.
I admired the beach and the horizon in the distance. I’ve always wondered about that. The world is a sphere, so there’s a horizon. But I’ve always wondered why the world looks flat for a certain distance, and you know it’s not. I wonder why the sun “sets” while the earth is actually just continuing the never ending orbit. And why the moon only comes out to play at night, illuminating the dark skies. But then there’s the fact that the moon isn’t actually glowing, it’s just reflecting the light from the sun. And then I make myself stop thinking, annoyed by my own thoughts that bounce off each other, continuing the silly cycle.
The guide sopped us on a small cliff so we had a good view of the beach below us, bustling with people ranging from small children to elders. We watched for a while before turning around and heading to a wooded area. Alex drove down the path behind the others while I was admiring all of the beauty around us.

“That was amazing!” Val had a huge smile on her face.
“I know right?” I said. “Everything was so beautiful.”
“Not as beautiful as you.” Alex whispered into my ear and then kissed my cheek. I should be used to the small compliments we give to each other, but I can’t help but blush every time. And now was no exception to that.
“Aw, she’s blushing!” Beau laughed. “What did you say?”
“What?” Alex smiled. “Am I not allowed to tell my girlfriend how beautiful she is?”
“Oh my god Alex!” Val threw her hands up in the air. “You broke a law! What are we going to do with you?”
“Shackle him up in a dark cave somewhere.” I laughed.
“Sounds kinky,” he winked.
“Oh shut up.” I laughed and tried to ignore the blush that had gotten worse with his comment.
