Drawn To Each Horizon

Thirty

Alex’s POV:

Ah Fiji, it’s so nice to see you. The plane ride was a bitch and we were completely jet lagged. Thankfully we all slept like babies in the amazing house we had rented for the week.

I stepped out onto the balcony while Liv was still lying in the bed, sleeping I’m sure. I rested my elbows on the ledge and admired the beach that was about half a mile away. It was cool that there was so much water around; a pool in the back (along with a hot tub) and the beach close by. I let out a sigh and thought about why I haven’t gone on vacation lately. Hmm… Well, Lisa never liked traveling. God dammit Alex, you’ve got to be fucking joking. There’s the most beautiful girl in the world lying in your bed and you’re thinking about that bitch?

--

“We should really go on vacation.” My feet were elevated on Lisa’s lap while she was reading a magazine of some sort.

“You’re joking right?” She set the magazine down and eyed me. “You’re gone all the time already, that’s like vacation in itself.”

“But I want to go somewhere with you.” I argued.

“Alex, we’re spending time together right now. Isn’t that good enough?” She lifted the magazine back up and ended that idea.

--

I sighed and felt a pair of arms wrap around my waist.

“Good morning handsome.” Liv kissed my back.

“Hey baby, you’re finally awake.” I turned in her arms and wrapped my arms over her shoulders.

“Well we’ve got to get an early start right?” She asked.

“It’s ten.” I laughed.

“Exactly,” she smiled.

We stayed quiet for a while, just being comforted by each other’s touch. She rested her head against my chest and breathed softly.

“You know that I really love you, right?” I asked.

“Of course I do sweetie, and I really, really love you too.” She responded, “What’s making you bring this up?”

“I’m just happy that I get to go on vacation with you.” I shrugged.

“You act like you’ve never left Baltimore before.” She laughed. “But I’m glad that we’re on vacation together too.”

“Should we go shower?” I asked.

“Nah, I think we’re going to the beach soon.” She responded and let go of me. “So put on your swimsuit.”

We went back into the room and promptly changed into our swimsuits and then proceeded to go downstairs to get some food into our systems. Kellin was making some eggs on the stove while Matty and Beau were talking on the couch. I guess the girls weren’t ready yet.

“How’d you sleep?” Kellin asked as I had seated myself at the breakfast nook.

“Like a baby,” I laughed, “Jet lag is always great.”

“Same here,” he said. “Kate and I nearly fell asleep as soon as we went into our rooms. She’s just waiting until later on in the day so she can call mom and dad to check in on Cope.”

“Are you talking about my baby girl?” Kate walked into the kitchen, dressed appropriately for the weather.

“You mean our baby girl?” Kellin asked. Kate just laughed and sat down at the other end of the breakfast nook. Kellin put the eggs onto a plate and happily ate them with a fork.

“Good thing we had some food delivered before we got here last night,” Beau walked into the kitchen, “I was starving when we got here.”

“I was pretty hungry myself, I was just too tired to actually get out of bed.” I said.

“Tell me about it!” Matty laughed, “as soon as my head hit that pillow I knew that I wouldn’t be leaving until morning.”

“Good morning Fiji!” Val shouted when she walked into the room. “It’s going to be an amazing day, I can already tell.”

“How so?” Beau challenged her.

“Well, we’re with our friends on vacation in a beautiful island.” She smiled. “So you try and tell me that it won’t be a great day.”

“Speaking of friends,” I looked around, “where are the other girls? We’ve gotta go hit the beach!”

“Well I’m right here,” Brit entered the room.

“Well it looks like your girlfriend is holding all of us back.” Matty joked.

“Whoa now, I was just grabbing beach stuff.” Liv appeared by my side. “We can go now if you really want to.”

“I thought we were going to eat first.” Val argued.

“Yeah, we were going to hit the breakfast bar and then the beach.” Brit explained.

“Why the hell did I make eggs then?” Kellin argued.

“I thought you just didn’t want to eat the food from there.” Matty shrugged.

“We might as well get rolling now.” I suggested and everyone was soon out the door and walking down the little pathway. We were soon standing at the buffet table all gathering up some food on our plates to tide us over until later on in the day.

--

“So how did you enjoy the first day?” I asked Liv while we were sitting out by the pool, watching the sun set.

“Well, it was very fun.” She laughed and took a drink of wine that I had poured for the two of us. Everyone else was either inside or out at the beach, it was heard to keep track.

“Do you want to have some more fun?” I smirked.

“Oh Mr. Gaskarth, it’s a bit early, don’t you think?” She joked.

“It’s never too early.” I slightly shook my head and grabbed her hand.

“Well we are on vacation after all.” She got out of her chair and went inside with me. I gave her a piggy back ride up the stairs and lay her down on the bed. She stripped out of her clothes and bit her lips as I did the same. I stood there for a moment, just to admire the lovely woman lying in front of me.

“Well,” she brought me out of my trance, “what are you waiting for Mr. Gaskarth?”

Notes

Uh oh, stupid Lisa is getting back into Alex's head. Shame shame shame. But hey, Fiji's gonna be great, am I right?
