Drawn To Each Horizon

Twenty Six

Alex POV:

Back to my parent’s house I guess. Liv and I decided that we should visit them one more time before I go off on tour. Besides, in the next few months, I wouldn’t really be home and Liv wouldn’t have much time off of work with the vacation coming up. But hey, they’re seeing me more than usual anyways. That sounds bad but I swear it’s not.

“Ready to go babe?” Liv smiled at me from the door frame. I swear to god, if we weren’t leaving I would take here right here and now. How did I manage to get walking perfection in my grasp? I seriously have no idea, but I do know that I can’t let her get away.

“As ready as I’ll ever be.” I followed her out to the car and decided to let her drive. She got more sleep than I did last night and she said she wanted me to take a nap in the car. Her acoustic playlist flowed quietly through the speakers and allowed me to drift off into a calm sleep.

--

My eyes shot open when the car came to a halt. The seatbelt tightened and pushed me back into the passenger seat.

“What the fuck man?” Liv screeched through her window and honked her horn before flashing a middle finger to the large, red truck in front of us. She grumbled and rolled her window back up.

“Sorry to wake you up Lexy,” she cooed and wiped some hair out of my eyes. “Traffic is killer today.”

“I know, I shouldn’t have made you drive in this traffic.” I sighed and leaned my seat back up so I was in a normal sitting position.

“No Lex, go back to sleep.” She patted my shoulder while keeping an eye on the road. “Don’t worry about me, that won’t happen again.”

I looked at the clock to see that we were already in the car for an entire hour. The navigation system said that we were only halfway to my parent’s house, leaving another hour or so in the car. Maybe even two hours with my luck.

“Are you sure?” I asked.

“Yes, don’t be silly.” She smiled sweetly.

“Alright,” I leaned my chair back and let the acoustic music to bring me back to a peaceful slumber.

--

“Wake up Lexy, we’re here.” She whispered into my ear. The car was parked around the corner of my parent’s house and the neighbors were over for the usual card games that they had over on Tuesdays. Retired people are weird, being able to do whatever they want any day of the week. I groaned and got out of the car after my seat was set back up. I stretched quickly and held Liv’s hand as we walked around the corner to their house. I went up to the front door and tried the handle, locked.

“Maybe we should try the back door?” Liv suggested.

I shrugged and led her through the fence. We made it to the back door and it opened with ease. I crept around the house and didn’t see anyone around in the kitchen or living room. Liv followed inside behind me and we made ourselves at home. I helped myself to some soda while Liv sipped on some water. We sat on the couch and waited for someone to say something or appear from around the corner. I was getting real tired of being quiet and keeping my mouth shut.

“Where are they?” I finally asked, you could hear the whines in my voice but I didn’t care, we’ve been waiting for half an hour.

“I don’t know,” Liv shrugged, “Their car was in the driveway.”

“Yeah, and what about cards? They always have their little games going on at this time every Tuesday.” I complained again. We were used to hearing each other whine about things, so complaining didn’t really bother me at all.

“I don’t know Lex, maybe they went to someone else’s house for cards this week.” She tried to reason with me. I swear, this girl keeps me level headed.

“You’re probably right.” I sighed and lay down so my head was in her lap. She played with the wisps of hair that were going all over the place. I hadn’t bothered to do anything with them today since we were only going to see my parents, you know, if they ever showed up.

“Oh Peter,” I heard a familiar voice purr before seeing my mother and father walk into the kitchen. Stark naked, may I add.

“What the fuck guys?” I yelled as I shot up from Liv’s lap and covered my eyes so I wouldn’t see anything more than I already did. Liv immediately pushed her face into my chest and didn’t say a word, she was probably just as shocked as I was, maybe even more.

“Oh my goodness Alexander,” I heard my parents shuffle around in the kitchen, “What on earth are you doing here?”

“I thought that I’d surprise you but I guess that was a mistake.” I kept my eyes covered.

“It’s nice to see you dear.” My mom said as if nothing had even happened.

“Aren’t you guys going to go put on some clothes or something?” I suggested.

“Oh, right.” I heard my mom say before their footsteps led out of the room and up the stairs.

“Is it safe?” Liv whispered.

I peeked through my hands to see my parents gone. “All clear,” I assured her.

“I don’t think I’ll ever look at your parents the same way again.” She breathed heavily and bit her lower lip.

“I know, and I’m sorry you had to see that.” I pulled her into my arms. “Now we’re both scarred.”

We stayed curled up on the couch until my parents reappeared in front of us. This time they were fully clothed, thank god. They awkwardly sat down on opposite ends of the couch. We didn’t talk much so we went to go see a movie with them instead. At least that way we were doing something together like I had planned.

Notes

Sorry if I burned holes in your imagination. But tbh, I had way too much fun writing this chapter...

And now I command you to speak! Pretty please?
