My Calling

No One Could Compare To Alex

I'm a Sophomore now, respectively making Alex and his friends Seniors. I don't know how it happened, but the years seemed to pass by so fast, a big blur.

I've grown up a lot in the past two years. My bust isn't so little anymore, neither is my bum. My hair's fairly long, not the shoulder length I used to keep it at. Lastly, my experience has sky rocketed.

"No one can find the rewind button, girl," I sang as I took my shirt off, getting ready for school. "So cradle your head in your hands, and breathe. Just breathe."

After I slipped on a fresh bra, I pulled my pants down. I shivered when the cold air slapped my, not so covered by a thong, ass. "Here in town you can tell he's been down for awhile, but my God's it's so beautiful when the boy smiles. Wanna hold him, maybe I'll just sing about it."

A chuckle ringed through my room. "And I thought I was the only one that could sing in this family."

I whipped around, embarrassed. I looked at Alex and he just stared back at me, nonchalantly. Like I wasn't standing there half naked. He licked his lips, and I swear my face was on fire.

"What the hell, Alex?!" I picked up my skirt and shimmied it up my hips, "I'm fucking changing!"

Alex rolled his eyes, "No shit, dumb fuck. I can see, thanks."

I bent over to pick up my sweater. I peeked through my hair and saw Alex look at my ass. I didn't know whether I should be disgusted or greatful that I had a worthy enough body for him to check out.

"What do you want, Alexander?"

"Do you need a ride to school?" He walked into my room, randomly flicking a bell hanging off my mum from Homecoming last year.

I pulled my sweater over my head. "Do I ever need a ride?"

"Everyday, you can't drive. Remember?" He smirked at me.

"Rewind." I glared. "Do I ever need a ride from you?"

"I guess not," Alex looked straight at me. "But I figured that since you and what's-his-face are over, you'd need one."

It took everything I had in me to not slap him. "David. And we aren't over."

Alex raised his eyebrow. "Really? Last I heard, he dumped your ass hard."

I swear, I'm gonna punch an infant if he keeps talking. "He didn't, thanks." I walked over to my vanity and grabbed my feather earrings. "I broke up with him, not that you'd care."

"You're right. I don't care." Alex walked back to my door. "Do you need a ride or not?"

"No." I turned to him. "Now get out." My door slammed shut as I started putting my make up on.

So, I may not have been completely honest with Alex. Yes, I was in fact going to break up with David, but when I had started to bring it up, he freaked out. He said there was "no fucking way in hell" that he was gonna get dumped by a "chick". He was the dumper, not the dumpy. I let him take over then, not really caring that he was breaking up with me.

That's honestly how it always went. I went out with a guy, figured out they weren't what I wanted, started to break up with them, they freak out, and then I let them break up with me. I was okay with this system. None of them ever lived up to what I wanted. Of course, no one could compare to Alex.

I left my room, slid down the banister, and headed for the front door.

"You would be leaving now, nerd." Alex yelled with a mouth full of food. "Can't be late on the first day of school!"

I smiled sweetly at him, "More like I have actual friends to see, unlike mister loner over there."

Alex glared, "Whatever. Don't forget who's the upper classman here. I could get your ass whipped."

I shook my head. "But you wouldn't, would you?" He didn't say anything. "Yeah, that's what I thought."

I walked out the front door with a bang. Waiting at the curb was a blood red mustang. I smiled at the driver, my best friend Gretel Greyson, as I got in.

"Hey, you look good." She complimented.

I smiled, "Gotta remind these boys that I'm avaliable!"

Gretel rolled her eyes as she started for our school, Dulaney High School.

"So.." Gretel mumbled as she pulled into a parking space.

"So?" I raised an eyebrow.

"I wanted to..run something by you."

"What Gretel?" I said impatiently.

"There's this guy I like.." She pulled her keys out of the ignition.

"Who?" By all means, Gretel better pray to God that Alex's name does not come out of her mouth. I will throw shit.

Gretel looked at me, barely managing to squeak out, "Griffin."

My shoulders relaxed, and I began to smile. "Gret, that's so cute."

She sighed, "Really?"

I nodded, "Super! I always knew this was going to happen!"

"I'm glad you're okay with it. I didn't think you would be."

I was hurt, "Why not?"

"I figured you'd feel left out or something."

I rolled my eyes, "Honey, by the time you and Griffin get it on, I'll have spotted my next victim."

It was Gretel's turn to roll her eyes. I smirked as we both hopped out of the car and strutted towards the school. The cat-calls started as soon as the school doors were opened for us.

"Hey ladies." An eager Junior smirked.

I winked at him but kept walking.

"Looking great, as usual, Avery."

"And you shouldn't expect anything less." I smiled at a brown haired boy.

Gretel looked at her phone. "It's only eight forty five, school hasn't even started yet, and you're already getting hit on."

"Gret," I laughed. "You make it sound like that isn't the usual?"

"Well, Ave," She sighed, "Not all of us are as gorgeous as you."

I stopped walking, putting my hand over my chest. "Gretel, that's so sweet of you."

Gretel rolled her eyes. "Bitch."

"Only if you're my whore."

Gretel stopped at her locker. "See you in five?"

I nodded my head and kept walking towards my locker.

"Hey Avery."

"Girl, you're killin' me in that skirt!"

"On the prowl, Ave?"

I rolled my eyes at that one.

"Avery."

Now that voice, that voice made me stop in my tracks. I turned slowly on the balls of my feet.

"Christopher." I managed to croak out. Then ever so gracefully, I continued the few feet left until I reached my locker.

"You look good, the summer is definitely your friend." Yes, I did notice how he checked out my legs.

"Thanks, I guess."

"Believe me," Chris leaned against the lockers. "It was a compliment."

I nodded my head, shoving all my stuff into the locker, trying to get out of there as soon as I could.

"So, how was your summer?"

I threw him a small glance. Was he serious? "Good I guess."

"That's good.." Chris looked over my shoulder. "Well bye, Avery!"

With that he scurried off. I looked back at my locker, rolling my eyes. "What the hell was that?" I muttered.

"Avery!" I turned around to see Gretel running towards me, a lean boy running behind her.

"What's u-"

Gretel grabbed my hand and started pulling me along, knocking the wind out of me, cutting off my words.

"Your brother." She panted, "He's playing in the courtyard."

I laughed. "He's what?"

She didn't have to answer my question, though, cause we just rounded the corner that brings you to the courtyard. There sat Alex, guitar in hand, surrounded by his bandmates and various classmates.

"I'm overly attracted and terribly convinced that she could be my princess and I could be her prince."

"He's singing." I stated.

"I know," Gretel squealed.

I looked over her shoulder, "I see you found Griffin." I smiled at the tall, lean, black-haired, electric blue eyed boy on the other side of her.

"Indeed I did."

Then they smiled at each other.

I looked away quickly, looking back at Alex instead.

"She's everything I want for sure. She's everything that I want to adore. Well baby, I am overly attracted and terribly convinced that she could be my lover, but I think I lost my chance."

I stared at Alex and the next thing I knew, he was staring back, smiling.

"You had me at first glance," He sang to me.

When he was done, everyone clapped. I didn't. I was too shocked. Did that really just happen?

When the clapping subsided, Alex grabbed the microphone. "Thanks guys. That was our cover of Jane Doe by Christofer Drew."

Jack stole the mic from Alex. "If you want to see more epicness, don't miss our show. Tonight. Nine p.m.. At the Star Lounge Club."

The crowed all started moving at once. I tried to make my way to Alex, but everyone one on the fucking planet decided that at the exact moment they all wanted to walk in front of me. Assholes.

By the time everyone cleared, and I could actually see Alex, he wasn't alone. Lisa was attached to him by their faces.

I freaking baby barfed in my mouth when I saw that hoe.

I guess I'll just talk to Alex later..
