Call Me Foolish, I Feel Hopeless
I'll Be Gone Before You Know
Jack Barakat
Things went worst to better since Alex's breakdown. We've gotten so much closer in the course of a couple days. I could even see a real smile on his face sometimes. I was determined to make Alex feel happiness again.
"Hey Jack?" Alex called out from the little bathroom the cabin has.
"I'm right here!" I yelled out, tying to find my Green Day shirt.
"Have you seen my toothbrush?" He questioned, walking out of the bathroom in my shirt.
"I was looking for that shirt!" I closed the drawer, just grabbing a random tee.
"Sorry." Alex blushed, making him look adorable.
"It's fine Lex. You look cute in my clothes." I commented, winking. His face was red as a tomato by now, and hid it by looking away.
I guess it wasn't a surprise I was falling for this boy. He had the most gorgeous smile ever. I'm not even joking. He has great music taste, and is it weird that I said I loved his word choice? Little things like that just makes him so much more attractive.
"Ready?" Alex asked, grabbing his guitar and pick. I nodded as I grabbed my guitar was well. We walked into the main building, running into Rian and Zack.
"Dude, cabin 3 is having a party tonight. I heard even Derek got his hands on some beer. We gotta go!" Rian announced excitedly. Alex looked at me with a look of worry, but I shrugged it off.
"Sure, it'll be fun. Right Lex?"
"Y-yeah. Fun." He looked down, ignoring my stare. We said our goodbyes as Alex and I walked into our song writing class. Taking our seats, the teacher started right away.
"I want you guys to get a partner and write a song. We've been working on technique and now it's your time to shine." The teacher smiled, letting us get to work. I scooted closer to Alex, seeing he didn't waste a second starting.
"Are you okay? We don't have to be at the party long." I said, making him relax a little more.
"Parties aren't really my thing Jack." Alex looked up from his work.
"Pleaseeee?" I begged. He sighed, putting down his pencil.
"Fine."
-Time skip to the party-
"See Lex, it isn't that bad!" I said once we entered the cramp cabin. Drunk teenagers were grinding against each other, making everyone squeeze into the place. I automatically grabbed a drink, and then gave one to Alex. After that, I didn't really see him. I kept drinking cup after cup, just wanting to escape for a bit. The party stated to die down soonly after midnight, not wanting to get in trouble by the counselors.
"Come on Jack, let's get you back." I heard Alex say from somewhere. I felt a tug on my arm, making me giggle.
"Lex loosen up!" I slurred, letting him drag me out the door.
"Go to bed, we'll talk in the morning." He sighed, plopping me in my own bed.
"Lexy don't leave." I heard myself say.
"What? I'm right here." Alex tried to argue. I pulled on his shirt, bringing his face close to mine. "J-jack." He stuttered.
"Shh." I said, bringing my lips onto his. It lasted a few seconds until Alex pulled away.
"You're drunk. It means nothing." He whispered, crawling into his own bunk.
"I really like you Alex." I said. After a few minutes of silence, I felt myself slipping into darkness.
