As the branches begin to break
There's a first time for everything.
My parents are getting home today and Jack leaves for holiday tomorrow, so I'll only have Alex to talk to for 2 weeks, but I'm not complaining about that. I was currently cleaning the house, I was nearly done, and it had to be spotless.
After 4 hours of endless cleaning, there was not a speck of dirt in the house, and right on que, Mum and Dad walk in. They walk into the living room where I'm standing.
"Wow, it's clean in here, what's the occasion?" Dad said.
"I just wanted the house to be clean fro when you got home" I replied. He just nodded.
"Well, we're going to go unpack" Mum said and they disappeared upstairs.
"LAUREN!" Dad screamed. My heart skipped a beat, and not in the good way. This was not good. I walked upstairs and Dad was stood there holding one of Alex's shirts that I put in the wash basket. Shit.
"Who's shirt is this? And don't you dare lie to me" He said.
"It's uh, It's Alex's" I replied.
"Alex who?" He asked.
"Gaskarth" I whispered. All of a sudden, I felt a fist collide with my stomach. I fell backwards against the wall and he kept punching me and kicking me. After what felt like hours, he left me alone and went back to unpacking. I stumbled downstairs to check out the damage. It was one of the worst. My lip was cut open, my head and nose were bleeding and I had a black eye. I cleaned up all the blood and took some painkillers.
"Lauren" Mum said as she walked into the kitchen.
"Yeah" I replied.
"We're having people round tonight, so you need to go out and stay out all night" She said.
"Alright" I replied, not wanting to argue back. I went upstairs and packed a bag then set off to Alex's. I knocked on the door and it opened straight away. Alex just stared at my injuries in pure shock.
"Can I stay the night?" I asked.
"Uh, yeah, come in" He replied. I walked in and sat on his sofa, he sat next to me.
"Why did it happen this time?" He asked. I couldn't tell him it was because Dad found his shirt. He'd blame himself too much.
"I forgot to clean the bathroom" I said.
"You're lying" He replied. I sighed.
"Fine. Don't blame yourself, but I put your shirt in the wash basket and Dad found it" I said.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't-" I cut him off.
"Alex, don't blame yourself alright?" I said.
"Fine. So anyway, how did you get out of the house?" He asked.
"They've got visitors, so they kicked me out for the night" I replied.
"Well, I'm glad you came here. Oh your nose and lip are bleeding again" He said. I walked to the bathroom and he came with me and watched me clean it up.
"It's like you're a nurse. You're good at dealing with injuries" He said.
"Well, I've been doing it my whole life. I've got to be good at it" I replied.
"Right well, get your pyjamas on, I'll order a pizza and we'll have a girly night in" He said in a girly voice.
"Okay Alexandra" I laughed. I got my pyjamas on and went downstairs and Alex had built a blanket fort.
"Alex, this is the best I've ever seen" I said.
"It's just something I'm good at" He replied. There was a knock at the door. Alex got up and came back in a minute later with the pizza. We went in the fort and there were drinks in there. We ate our pizza in silence, then Alex picked up his guitar and started playing.

The weekends with old friends spilling into 9 to 5 routine

"You still don't get what its about, do you?" He asked. I thought for a moment.
"No" I replied, a little confused.
"I thought you'd say that." He said. leaning over the little table between us. What was he doing? All of a sudden, our lips collided. The kiss lasted about 10 seconds, and it was perfect. Just the way a first kiss should be.
"I want to be with you Lauren. The day I met you, well fell on you, I thought you were the most perfectly beautiful girl I'd ever met. I knew I had to have you. I'm in love with you Lauren, and I can't hide it any more" He said. I was a little taken aback. Did Alex just say he loved me? I, I think I might love him back.
"Alex, I think I uh, I mean, I love you too Alex." I replied. He smiled and kissed me again.
"You're my first kiss Alex" I said. He smiled again.
"Lauren?" He asked.
"Yeah?" I replied.
"Will you be my girlfriend?" He asked.
"Yes Alex, I will!" I said, kissing him. This day may have started out shit, but it was definitely the best day of my life.
