Mistakes
Still more beautiful than the sunrise.
Oli stirred next to me, I looked over at the still sleeping goof ball next to me try to get the cover off himself. I pushed it down for him. He stopped moving and I started to giggle. I rolled out of the bunk but first kissed his forehead. I walked to the back of the bus and looked through my suit case for something to wear. I pulled out a tank top, shorts bra and panties. I walked into the bathroom and brushed my teeth and got dressed.
I put my dirty clothes in my bag and headed to the front lounge where I grabbed my shoes and slid those on. I stood up and walked over to the bus door. I opened it and walked about 6 feet before I got tackled to the ground. "Ahhh!" I yelled as someone landed on top of me. "Good morning!" Alex beamed at me with the biggest smile on his face. "Yea, Yeah. Get off me you dweeb." I said pushing him off me.
He stood up and offered me a hand. I took it and he pulled me up. "Are you heading to breakfast?" He asked. "Nope, to my booth to set up." "Want some help?" "None of the others are up, so yes. I would love some help." We walked over to where the BMTH booth was gonna be set up. "Here grab that end." I said lifting one end of the table. Alex grabbed the other and we set it up. Then came the tent.
I couldn't get it to open. "Should I get the directions?" Alex asked while giggling. "No. I got it thank you!" I said giving a huff at the end. I got it open and he helped me pull it out. I walked over to the trailer opening the back. "Alright, put this on the table." I said and handed him a box. I took two in my hands and walked over behind him. We set them on the table.
He turned to me. He gave me a smile and took my hand, He pulled me around the table and out into the open. "Where are we going?" I asked. "To get food, We need food." "I'm really not hungry Alex." He stopped. "Oh really!? Not even for a chocolate chip waffle with bacon, one egg over easy and peanut butter?" My jaw dropped. How could he remember that was my favorite?
"I did date you for a long time, Paige. That and we were friends for even longer. I remember everything about you." I pulled my mind back down from the clouds where it was currently located. "Well then, if waffles are involved I must go." I said. His grin was from ear to ear. I smiled back. I missed this, simple easy friend ships with the people I cared most for.
"Come on, there's a Waffle house down the street from here." He put his right arm across my shoulders. We started to walk out of the 'Parking lot' and down the side walk towards the Waffle house. Alex still had his arm wrapped around my shoulders. I closed my eyes remembering the first time Alex said he loved me.
*FLASH BACK*
Me: Alex I don't see you. It's almost morning, I have to get back to my house soon. My Rents are gonna kill me.
Alex: I'm coming I promise. I'll be there in a sec.
Me: Alright.
I hung up and sat on the grass. I sat cross cross apple sauce on the ground, and crossed my arms across my chest. I didn't know it was gonna be so cold I would have put on a jacket or hoodie. It doesn't help I just got out of the shower cause I couldn't sleep and the water helps me think. My hair was wet and I had some really short Pj shorts on and a cami. Along with my Batman sports bra, with matching underwear.
Suddenly someone plopped down next to me scaring the shit out of me. I smacked Alex's arm. "Shit, Ally! You scared me." I said. He laughed and pulled me closer. "Sorry. God you're so cold." He said. I was busy slowly melting into the warmth of his body. "Yeah, I sorta forget to grab a-" "Clothes when you left the house?!" He asked. I just laughed. "It's not my fault you dragged me out here at 5:52 in the morning."
We both laughed. "I wanted to watch the sunrise with you." He said. "Awwee. How sweet." I said and leaned up and pecked his lips. He pulled away and took off his hoodie. He handed it to me. "I can't let you freeze. It's almost the end of September and it's cold." I bit my lip and pulled the blink hoodie over my head. I kissed his cheek. "Thanks Babe." He smiled.
"Speaking of The end of September... What do you want for your 16th birthday?" He asked pulling me into his lap. "I don't need anything, Alex. I got everything I want." I was staring at my hands play with the collar of his shirt. "Are you sure?" He asked. "Yeah..." I said he pulled my head up by my chin. I loved his dark orbs for eyes. "Your eyes are so pretty." He said. I blushed but never broke eye contact. "I like your brown ones, Their prettier than my blues ones." "I disagree." He said leaning in, his lips brushed mine and I pulled his shirt closer so our lips met.
We sat there tongues tired and hands lost in each others hair for a few minutes. "I know what I'm giving you for your birthday-" "Alex, really I don't-" "I love you." I froze looking at his face, I started biting my lip. "I wanna give you my heart, I really do love you Paige." I pulled Alex into a hug. "I love you too, Alex." I pulled away and we just stared at each other for a minute before turning to the horizon to see we missed the sunrise.
"I didn't need it anyways, It will never be as pretty as you are." He said pulling me up with him. "You're so awesome, and sweet... I mean why'd you choose me?" I asked. "Cause I fell in love with you... no one else." I pulled his lips to mine. "Come on, Let's go watch some Disney movie at my house." I said. I took his hand and we walked down the my house.
*END OF FLASH BACK*
We made it to the Waffle house and we got a booth. The woman came up and before I could order Alex already did. "Thanks." I said taking a sip of my coke. "Your welcome." We sat for a few. "So... tell me about your tattoos. And about your whole life in England." Alex said taking a sip of his orange juice. "Well, I got my tattoos to cover up" I showed my wrists to Alex, He ran his fingers over the cuts. "the terrible things I did to myself while I was... you know... off the deep end. I guess that was about 2 and a half years ago now."

I said, his eyes shot up to mine still as pretty as the first time I saw them. "I meant it then and I mean it now." The woman brought our food. We thanked her and started in on our food. "When I moved the guys used to make fun of me for putting Peanut butter on my waffles. I said Fuck them and ate it anyways." Alex laughed. "So where did you move?"
"I moved in with Oli, He was there the very first day I go there.We ran into each other, literally, and we ended up almost becoming best friends." "So did you guys date?" I took in another piece of waffle. "No, I mean we did have a friends with benefits thing going on, he used to ask me out all the time but I can't give anyone my heart when I can't really find it."
Alex just looked at his plate and took another bite. I scratched the back of my neck. "I mean... I guess were dating now." His head shot up. "I sorta feel like I owe it to him to try since he's helped me out so much in the past few years-" "I could have been there." "But you weren't Alex and you guys never called. I kept the same number Alex." He slouched back in his seat. "Jack and I thought maybe you would come back sooner if we just left you alone, give you time to think."
"Alex." He looked up at me. "I hope one day you understand why I really wanted never to come back." He nodded. "We can finish breakfast then we should probably get back to finish setting you up." He said with a smiled on his face. I smiled back and finished my waffle. Alex paid and we walked out of Waffle house. I grabbed his hand.
"Thanks for that. It was nice." He smiled. "It was nice, wasn't it?" I nodded. We continued to walk towards the place where Warped was being held. "Is this... like All Time Low?" He asked pointing to a spot on my shoulder. "Yeah, It's something I came up with from the ideas you guys were throwing around when the band first started. But of coarse I have the skull and cross bones." He smiled. "It's really cool." "Thanks." He pulled me to a stop.
"What?" I asked. He pointed off in the distance, there stood Oli, staring straight at us. "It will be ok, Trust me." I said and walked up to Oli. "Hey, babe." He said and I let go of Alex's hand and engulfed Oli in a hug. "What time did you wake up? I didn't even feel you leave the bunk?" He asked. "Really early this morning. I ran into Alex and he held me with initial set up and then we went to get food." I said and we three started walking towards the BMTH booth.
It was awkward for a few but we slowly got over it. The three of us started folding shirts and random stuff we were selling. I laid back against the ground. "UGGHH!...I just want a nap." I sat up. "When we finish I'm getting a nap." I pointed towards Oli. "We can do that. We play early today so we can curl up on the couch and watch The Princess Bride." I threw my hands into the air.
"Yes! Greatest day ever!" I said and looked across the place to see Zack walking up. I jumped up and ran over to him. I jumped into a hug with him. "I could get used to seeing you everyday again." I said. He laughed. "Oh you have no idea. I missed you too." He put me down. We started towards my booth. "Comin' to steal Gaskarth?" I asked. "Yeah actually, we're one of the first bands to play today."
"Well, what if I said you can't have him. He's being not only excellent company but also he's pretty ok at folding... ok maybe not the folding part." Alex's jaw dropped and he threw a shirt at me. "You're the one who showed me how to fold, back when I had a drawer in your room." I put my hands to my face. "That was so long ago... Thank god I learned how to fold right." He stood up.
"I think I will leave with Zack." He huffed as he tried to walk past me. I grabbed his wrist pulling him into my chest for a hug. "Thanks for this morning and helping me out..." "Welcome. Maybe I'll trip on top of you more often." He giggled. I pushed him. "Alright get out of here Weirdo." I said and he laughed and walked away with Zack.
I'm really hoping this whole friendship thing works with the guys. I couldn't handle letting them in again only to be torn yet again...
