Princess Bride
I woke up in the hospital. I looked around, at the walls, a horrible shade of white. I tried to sit up. "Ow!" I laid back down. "God, Paige...don't scare me like that ever again." Alex demanded while gripping onto my hand. "What happened Alex?" "You went to that stupid party...your parts came to get you and you got into an accident..." "Are my parents ok?" Alex didn't say anything. I started to cry. "Alex?" I said tears falling. "Alex!" I demanded again. "They died, Paige...They drowned...the car crashed off the bridge and into the lake..." "This is all my fault..." "Paige...no it's no-" "If I had just listened Alex, To you." I pulled my knees up and sat up. I gripped at my hair. "God...If I had just listened....none of this would have happened. God, I'm such a fuck up!" Alex stood up and hugged me. I was crying hysterically now. Jack walked in and Alex let go. "J-Jack..." He nodded and ran over and scooped me into a hug. I gripped at him really tight. "Paige, It will be ok." Jack always knew what to say. He knew it was my fault but would never say it but damn sure wouldn't let me say it either. I nodded into his body. "Can I go home now?" I asked. "Paige...there's no one at your house... you can't stay by yourself..." "I'll be 18 in two months! Why not?" "Cause were not allowed to let you..." A doctor walked in. "Well what do I do?" "Well the past 3 days you've been out, it has been discussed. A family has taken you in." "Who?" I felt tears start to rise again. Zack walked in. "My mom. I asked her and she said she would let you stay...we adopted you...I hope thats ok?" "Zack. Of coarse." I stood up slowly and gave him a hug. "Thank you." I whispered into his ear. "Your welcome...and I'm sorry." I nodded.
"We're gonna help with the funeral." Zack said as he carried the last bag up to my room. "Thanks Zack, again." I just couldn't stop crying. "It will be alright, We're family now. I'm here for you." He took me into a hug. "I love you, Zack." I mumbled into his shoulder, still crying. "I love you too, Paige." He said and kissed my head. We separated. "Will you help me unpack?" "Yeah."
We finished and I pulled out my phone and called Alex.
Alex: Hello?
Me: You wanna hang out?
Alex: I can't Paige...
Me: Oh...alright, I'll ask Jack then...
Alex: Alright. 'Who is that?' 'Paige' 'Oh'
Me: Bye Alex.
I hung up. I laid on my bed and stayed there for a few. Who was that? I picked up my phone.
Jack: Hello.
Me: Hey Jack. Wanna hang out with me?
Jack: Hell yeah. Still one of the coolest people ever.
Me: Thanks Jack.
Jack: Be there in 10. Love you.
Me: Love you, too. See you then.
I pulled on some shorts and a shirt and waited for Jack to come. I walked down stairs and opened the door. "Hey." "How you been?" He came in and pulled me into a hug. "Ok...as good as I could be..." He scooped me up and took me upstairs. I pulled out my favorite movie and put it in. I ordered us chinese food and we ate and watched my movie. The Princess Bride. "This movie sucks." My jaw dropped and I said "Go to hell!" And pushed him off the bed. "As you wish..." It made me giggle. He laid his head on the side of my bed. "Can you stay the night? Would your mom let you?" "Duh...How many sleep overs have we had? Seriously." "Alright, I got it." I pulled him up and curled into his side when I got a call.
Me: Hello?
Alex: Meet me outside.
Me: Alright?
I hung up and walked down stairs and outside. "Alex?" "Here." He walked up to me. "What do you want?" I asked sort of annoyed. "I need to uhh...I want to uhh..." "Spit it out Alex!" "I wanna brake up..." My heart shattered. I sat on the ground. Alex sat next to me. I jumped up. "It's because of her isn't it!?" I yelled at him. "What?" "You heard me! The girl on the phone earlier!" "Lisa?" Of so she has a name!" I turned and went to walk away. He grabbed my wrist. "Alex let go." "Yes...I really like her-" "Well I thought you liked me, but apparently I was wrong..." I pulled my hand out of his and went through the front door and ran to my room. I tackled Jack with a sob filled hug. "Whats wrong?" He asked petting my head with his hand trying to calm me down. "A-Alex w-was cheating on m-me." "I'm so sorry Paige." I pulled Jack closer and leaned into his chest. "He doesn't deserve someone like you." I looked up at Jack. "Do you mean that?" "Of coarse. Paige your amazing. The most amazing girl ever..." He trailed off. I pushed him down and laid next to him. "Your the greatest Jack...I'm almost tempted to kiss you." "Whats stopping you?" He asked. I leaned up and he gulped hard. I leaned our faces closer. Our lips were about an inch and a half apart. "Distance." I said and he went closer and our lips crashed together. We made out for a few before deciding not to much for one day. I curled up next to Jack again and he put his arm around me and pulled me close. We fell asleep like that. He in his boxers and me in my PJs.
