My Fair Chance

Just Be Mine Tonight

Brooklyn clung to the key-card as she made her way to the suite. A part of her had hoped that Zack would speak up and stop her from going to the room or at the very least, offer to go with her. It made her feel guilty that he had so much trust in her, when only hours ago Alex cornered her in the bathroom and took her breath away. She knew it was wrong; on so many levels, it was wrong, but she'd never been in a situation like this. She didn't know how to cope with the new feelings.

Sighing, Brooklyn gripped the handle and slid the key in the slot. When the light turned green, she inhaled a deep breath and turned the knob to open the door. Stuffing the key down in her clutch, her heels hit the carpet and a smile came to her lips. It was a beautiful room, just as Cass and Rian had promised it would be.

The walls were a pale lavender, which was soothing. The carpet was fluffy and plush, a pale white to blend to the walls. She walked through the small hallway from the door only to find a living room. A black, soft couch and a matching loveseat were set up around the room. In front of the couch was a coffee table.

She ventured further into the suite and found the carpet fading into tile. Of course, this meant she'd reached the kitchen. It was pretty big, with cherry wood and a small table made for two. Smiling, she rounded the corner and found a door. It as open and the lights were off, which made her realize that Alex wasn't here. Sighing from relief, she flicked the light on and stepped further into the room. It matched the rest of the suite, only there was a large, circular bed. The furniture was cherry wood and there was a large, flatscreen television hanging on the wall in front of the bed. What caught her attention, though, were the rose petals scattered along the floor and the blanket. She followed them, only to find a bottle of wine, two glasses and a single velvet box sitting on top of a note.

Raising and eyebrow, Brooklyn picked up the box and flicked it open. A loud gasp came from her lips when she saw what was inside - A sparkling, diamond necklace in the shape of a heart. She clapped her hand over her mouth once she took it out of the box, admiring the chain and the rocks. It was gorgeous. Smiling brightly, she put it back in the box and shoved it in her clutch, silently thanking Rian and Cass for the gift.

Next, she picked up the note, her eyes scanning the letters.

Brooklyn!
We still can't thank you enough for everything you did to help us out. We know it's kind of weird, a room for two, but we were hoping you and Alex could relax and bask in your glory! Don't worry, you'll get back to Zack soon enough!
Anyway, we hope you like the necklace! It's real, so you get a free cleaning on it every six months. Sweet, huh?
Have fun in the room! Kick back, drink a glass of wine and let the hot tub soak away your troubles!
Thanks again, love!
-Rian and Cass.

She folded the letter up and placed it in her clutch as well. With a happy sigh, she plopped down on the bed and picked up the wine glass. Her fingers wrapped around the neck of the bottle, but her brows furrowed when she realized it'd been opened already. Well, at least that explains why there was only one glass and no gift for Alex. Assuming that he'd gotten his things and left, she relaxed a little more and pulled the cork out of the bottle. Once her glass was half-full, she closed the top and placed it back on the bed, taking a long sip from her glass.

"It's good, right?"

Brooklyn's head snapped to the corner of the room, where she discovered Alex standing by a door she hadn't even noticed. She could only guess, since his hair was wet and he was wearing nothing but a towel, that this was the bathroom. With a sigh, she tore her eyes away from his bare chest and nodded her head.

"This room is amazing. You have got to try that hot tub!" Alex smiled brightly, walking back into the bathroom even though the door way open. Brooklyn could hear him sliding jeans over his body and she was thankful for that. A moment later, he came back out of the bathroom and made his way over to the bed, though he didn't climb on it. "And check this out," Alex wrapped his finger around a knob, the lights instantly dimming as he did so. "How sweet is that?"

"You know, Ri and Cass told us about that," Brooklyn felt herself giggle, even though she didn't want to be so comfortable around him. "What'd they get you?"

"A flask with A.W.G in diamonds," Alex beamed, happy with his new gift. "I swear, the wine tastes even better from that."

"So you didn't even bother with your glass?"

"I'll keep it for the memories, but nah. I had to break my new baby in."

"You're silly, Alex."

"Maybe. So what'd they get you?"

"A beautiful diamond necklace."

"They're treating us pretty great, huh?" Alex sighed, tossing himself on the bed. Brooklyn giggled as some of the rose petals flew in the air and landed on his chest.

"Indeed, they are."

Brushing the petals off of his chest, Alex sat up and bent over the bed to grasp the remote to the tv. He propped up all of the pillows and made himself comfortable, flipping through the channels until he settled on Warm Bodies. He'd seen it before, but he had a feeling that anything else would make him lose intrest, therefore giving him time to focus on Brooklyn.

The way he saw it: He made his move and she gave in, however, she was still hellbent on being with Zack. That meant, if she wanted anymore from him, it was on her. Of course he would never stop caring about her or chasing her, but he'd do it from a distance if that's what made her happy. Besides, he was pretty confident in the fact that she would be his, one way or another.

Sighing, he stretched his arms across the bed and let his eyes trail to her body. She was uncomfortably sitting on the edge of the bed, gripping her now empty glass. He took note to the way she stared at the screen with a small smile on her lips. It wouldn't hurt anything if they watched a movie together, would it?

"Come up here," Alex suggested, patting the pillows next to him. "It won't hurt your neck as much."

She glanced at him, her teeth digging into her lip. He did look comfortable and she did enjoy this movie. It was harmless, wasn't it? Lying in the same bed staring at the same screen? Besides, Zack told her to come and he told her to have fun. She stood up and placed her glass on the dresser before crawling on the bed, sitting comfortably beside Alex. Their bodies were only inches apart, though it felt like miles.

"You can get comfortable," Alex whispered, giving her shoulder a small squeeze. "I won't try anything, I swear. You've made your point. Zack wins."

Brooklyn considered it for a moment. Zack may have been the one to claim her at the current moment, but that didn't necessarily mean he'd won. Besides, it wasn't a race. She just had some things to sort out on her own.

Sighing contently, she curled up against Alex's chest and let her body melt into his.

It was going to be a long night.
