Hold On Till May

102 Days Before

"Movie night is at my house tonight!" Jack excitedly announced as Aurora, Alex, Rian, and himself walked towards the parking lot at the end of the school day. The group groaned at the thought of going to Jack's for the 5th week in a row.

All was getting back to normal between Aurora and Alex, but it was still a little tense. None of the other guys had found out about her cutting, even though Alex truly wanted to tell each and every one of them every time he had the chance. The group groaned at the thought of going to Jack's for the 5th week in a row.

"Why can't we have it at Rian or Zacks?" Alex asked with an annoyed tone and a sour look on his face.

"Because I called it, man!" Jack screamed while placing a hand on Aurora's car, waiting for her to press the button to unlock it. Every day Aurora gave both Jack and Alex rides to school and back to their houses. Rian lived in a different direction, so he took his own car.

"I'd rather watch Star Wars than sit through Home Alone and Jurassic Park again, buddy," Aurora explained with a sigh. "Its not fair that you always get first pick."

"You hate Star Wars, Princess," Rian pointed out with a confused tone. It's true, she hated Star Wars more than movie in the world, but if she had the choice between them and Jack's favorite movies, she'd suffer.

"I'm just saying I'd rather die watching those damned movies than Jack's picks." She finally unlocked the car and Jack opened the passenger door to throw his backpack onto the seat.

"Fine," Jack threw his hands up in the air, motioning that he gave up, "what do you wanna watch then?" He was a little upset and everyone could tell when he crossed his arms against his chest and rolled his eyes in a subtle manner.

"The Bourne trilogy since we can all agree on that. And yes, I'm even speaking for Mr. Merrick on this one." Alex pulled his best friend close and smiled down at her.

"This right here," Alex stated, "is why this girl is fucking awesome!" All of them were excited to change movies for once, especially because it was the Jason Bourne trilogy. Usually they'd all be asleep by the time Jurassic Park was halfway done, but it was going to be a late night now. "Oh, and I have beer," Alex nodded and raised his eyebrows.

"Lordy, I fucking love you!" Jack bounced up and down with excitement letting his annoyance and anger go.

"Just be a little more stealth about it this time, Lex." Rian laughed remembering back about a month and a half ago when Alex brought alcohol into the Barakat household. He thought he could bring the full case downstairs without anyone noticing. In the middle of the steps, Jacks dad came down and took the beers away from Alex, leaving everyone grumpy the entire night.

"Fuck you, asshole!" Alex laughed and hit Rian in the back of the head. "It was an honest to God accident. Mr. B is just very sneaky." Alex laughed thinking about his own stupidity, then everyone in turn started laughing at him.

"Yeah, I'm sure no one else would've noticed a minor sneaking in a case of beers that were out in the open..." Aurora interjected and rolled her eyes.

"Why am I friends with such asshats?" Alex asked himself.

"Why are we friends with a dumbass?" Rian asked Alex with a smile.

"Whatever, man!" Alex threw his hands in the air and shook his head.

"See you in a few hours, Ri-Daw," Aurora threw her arms around Rian and hugged him tightly. It didn't matter how long she was going to be away from the boys - she always had to hug them to express her care and love. They meant the world to her because they were the only family that she knew at this point in her life. If it weren't for her friends, she wouldn't know what to do with herself. They saved her constantly, made her laugh on an hourly basis, and made her feel more love than she had ever felt before in her life.

The second movie in the series, The Bourne Supremacy, had just ended and the crew was still fully awake, waiting for Matt Damon to make his glorious return in The Bourne Ultimatum. The beers were being polished off one-by-one and everyone was having the best time they'd had in a while. No girls were bothering the guys through text or calls for some reason, so that was an absolute first. Being in a band, girls were suddenly all over them with a vengeance. It was just a nice, not so quiet family night for the five friends.

"I'll be right back," Aurora announced as she stumbled onto her feet. "Don't start the next one without me." She picked up Zack's hoodie on the way to the stairs before Alex finally realized that she had left his side.

"Where are you going?" He questioned.

"Out back to smoke." She knew exactly why he had asked, but didn't want to let anything with her self-mutilation to bother either one of them for the rest of the night.

"I'll come with you," He stood up and rushed up the steps, went across the kitchen, and headed into the backyard where Aurora slipped a Camel No. 9 out of the pack and lit it up.

"So, I'm on constant watch, I see." She said quietly, almost hoping that Alex wouldn't hear her.

"I'm just being cautious," he admitted while he took a step near her. Though smoking was one thing that Alex hated more than anything in the world, his friend looked beautiful in the moonlight with smoke around her. The entire yard was wet due to heavy rain showers Baltimore had been having in the previous hours. Everything smelt of perfection and rain, and Aurora looked stunning.

"Whatever you say, Gaskarth," she smiled and nodded after a long pause and finally put out her cigarette. "I'm fine, and I defiantly wouldn't do that shit here," she shot him an assuring look and hugged him before going back into the Barakat household where they went back downstairs to finish the movie trilogy.

"Oh!" Zack yelped once they walked backdown into the basement. "So that's where my hoodie went." Aurora tried to look as innocent and apologetic as she could due to not asking to wear it outside since it now smelt of stale cigarettes.

"Sorry, Zacky," Aurora played the puppy eyes on him and all he could do was laugh.

"Just keep it," he sighed while she already had one arm out of the hoodie, "it looks better on you anyway." Aurora clapped her hands together and kissed him on top of the head.

"Thank you," she said as she went back to her spot next to Alex on the black, pleather couch. Near the end of the movie all of them had fallen asleep. Rian's body took off for the floor without him waking up from the fall. Jack was asleep with his legs up on the arms of the love-seat and one arm dangling off of the side. Zack had curled up into a ball on the recliner, where he was snoring quietly to himself. And then there were Aurora and Alex who had made themselves comfortable cuddled close to each other. With her head on his chest and his head on top of hers, they could pretty much fall asleep anywhere.
