Alex Pov
Two days later I was finally discharged from hospital Jack was in visiting. “Alex, Jack would you like a lift home?” Mu mum asked.
“No thanks we will walk. Anyway it isn’t a long walk from here to our house”
“Okay I understand. I will see you when you get home. Jack would you like to stop for tea?”
“Yes that would be lovely Isobel Thanks” He politely replied.
“What would you like for tea” We both looked at each other.
“Pizza” we both said together.
“As a special treat you can eat in your room today Alex “We went up to my room with the pizza and just sat and talked for hours.
Jacks POV
I was in the hospital. The doctors wouldn’t let me see Alex. It the only thing I wanted to do. I wanted to see Alex. He wasn’t talking to me in the car. He wasn’t moving. I needed Alex by my side telling me everything was going to be alright. I wanted to know if my Alex was going to be alright. What about Tom. I hope Tom was alright. The paramedic called the air ambulance for Tom. Alex was taken off in the ambulance. When we arrived at the hospital the doctors checked me over. They told me that they were keeping me in for a few days for observation. I was moved to a cubicle until they had space on a ward for me. “How is Alex?” I asked the next person that came into the cubicle.
“I am sorry Mr Barakat” At that point I was thinking the worst. I thought Alex was dead. I don’t know what I would do if Alex had died in the accident “But we can’t give information on him unless you are family”
“I am his boyfriend please at least tell me he’s not dead”
“No he is not dead but he is in a very serious condition” That was when my mom and May came in.
“Jacky You’re Okay” May beamed she didn’t remember the car accident that had killed dad. Thankfully she was too young.
“Jack thank god you are okay. When they called me saying you had been in a car accident I assumed the worst”
“Mom can you do something for me please?”
“Sure anything you want Jack”
“Can you find out how Alex and Tom are? The doctors wouldn’t tell me anything. They took Tom off in a helicopter. Alex nor Tom were talking to me when the ambulance came”
“Okay sure I will find that out for you” The police walked in.
“Mr Barakat we need to take a statement from you about the crash”
“Okay that’s fine. Mom could you please go and find out about Alex and Tom and take May with you” with that my mom walked out with May.
“Right Mr Barakat can you tell us what you remember about that crash”
“We came to an intersection with lights. The lights going out was towards Brookside were green. The lights going towards Birmingham were red. Tom was in the middle of the intersection. When suddenly we saw a truck heading straight for us. It hit us. That’s all I remember officer”
“Okay thank you Mr Barakat. That’s all for now. “As they walked out my mom and May came in.
“They couldn’t tell me anything about Alex or Tom they would only tell family” As my mom told me this the curtain moved across and Mrs Gaskarth walked in.
“Hi Isobel. How are Alex and Tom they wouldn’t tell me anything I knew something was up when Alex wouldn’t talk to me in the car? I hope Tom is going to be okay he was brought here in a helicopter so it must have been bad”
“Alex is uncoucious but the doctors say he’s going to be okay. They have sedated Tom and controlling his breathing. They won’t know if he’s going to survive until they take him off his sedation”
“I am so sorry Isobel. I hope they are both okay in the end”
“It’s okay Jack it wasn’t your fault. So far the police think it’s the lorry drivers fault. The doctors told me that I wasn’t allowed to see Alex. It had been two days since the accident and I was being discharged today that was when Alex came through the curtain.
“Alex Thank god you’re okay. I haven’t been allowed to visit you. Have you seen Tom? How is he?”
“I am glad you are okay too. Tom is sedated and they are controlling his breathing. I have to stay here for a few days. I really do hate hospitals “
“Me too but everything is going to be okay” I told him giving him a reassuring hug “I will come and visit you everyday”
“Well that will make the time a bit more bearable” He smiled giving me a hug and a kiss
“I have to go now visiting hours are over but I will be back tomorrow”
“Okay” he sighed.
