Surprise!
Jack's P.O.V
"140 Towson drive" I said to the taxi driver as I got in. This was Zack and Jess's house, I knew they would all be there today. It was Rian's birthday. I stared blankly out of the window for the 40 minute drive, thinking about how I would surprise them. No one knew that I was coming home today.
Before I knew it, the cab was pulling up outside the house. My stomach was in knots and my heart was pounding against my chest. It's safe to say I'm nervous. I pay the cab driver, get out and walk to the door. I knock 3 times and wait 30 seconds before I hear keys fumbling and then the door opening. I come face to face with Jess, she just stands there, in total shock not moving or saying anything. Then she finally screams and hugs me.
"Jack its you! Oh my gosh I wasn't expecting this!" She lets go and Zack, Alex and Rian come round the corner to gee what was happening. Just like Jess, they all stood there in shock before sweeping me and Jess into a massive group hug. We were all brought back to reality by a little voice saying
"Mummy?" my stomach does a flip. Jess and Zack had a kid? I felt everyone freeze. Jess wriggles out of the group hug and picks the little girl up.
"Olivia, I'd like you to meet uncle Jacky" She says with a smile. I swallow the lump in my throat and walk over.
"Hey Olivia, its nice to meet you" I said softly.
"Are you the man that went on a special holiday for 5 years?" She asks. Zack walks past me and whispers 'go along with it' in my ear then went and stood next to Jess. They looked like such a happy family.
"Yeah, but I'm back now" I replied with a smile.
"Can I have a hug, uncle Jacky?" She asked. I looked at Jess and she nodded.
"Of course" I smiled and Jess handed her to me. She had brown curly hair like Jess and eyes like Zack. She was beautiful.
"I have to get down because I need to pee" She said. I chuckled and put her down.
"Zack honey can you take her? I'm gonna go for a walk with Jack and explain everything" Jess asked Zack.
"Sure, but don't take too long" He replied and kissed her. Jess put her shoes on and we walked out of the house in silence.
"So, what do I need to know?" I asked as we sat on the swings in the park. She took a deep breath and closed her eyes.
"Well, about a week before your trial, I was being sick every morning. So a day after the trial, me and Zack went to the clinic to have a pregnancy test and that's when we found out about Olivia. She's 5 in November. Then, when Olivia was 10 months, I fell pregnant with Oscar. But half way through the pregnancy, I had an ectopic. It was horrible. After all of that was over, and Olivia was 18 months, me and Zack tied the knot. All Time Low recruited a new guitarist. But he agreed that he would leave when you get back. The fans don't know. They think you were caught with drugs. Yeah, you lost some fans over that but not many. Alex fell off stage last year and broke his leg, so he had to play all shows sat down. He hated that. And that's about it" She explained it all slowly so I could take it all in.
"Wow, that's a lot to take in" I said.
"There's more" She quickly added.
"so tell me" I replied.
"Look Jack, you're the first person I'm saying this too so you better keep your mouth shut. That time when you kissed me, after the trial, it, um, it made me question my love for Zack. Sure I love him, we have a kid together for god sake. But when you kissed me,it just felt like it was meant to be. Zack was pissed off at me after the trial but that all blew over. What I'm trying to say is, These past 5 years, I've been trying to decide between you and Zack. I was only just starting to settle for Zack when you came back. and now, my minds at war again." She looked me dead in the eye when she said this. So I did the only thing I deemed logical. I leaned over and pressed our lips together.
"I love you Jess" I said.
"I think I love you too Jack" She replied.
Who knew that one kiss would lead to everything breaking apart.
