Chapter 2

"Hey Megan, how's it going?" I ask her. I wanted to make her realize that we were ok and that nothing wrong was going on. I could tell she was extremely nervous by our presence, but I wanted to see if I could get somewhere with her. She sat there and said nothing but continued to stare at me and I waited patiently for an answer. Very awkwardly and quietly she says,

"I-it's fine." She's shy. I remember Zack being this way when we had first met him. I'm sure we can get her to come out of her shell. We then started to help them with their work and all was going well when I notice Megan whisper to Kayla along with Kayla whispering back. I was almost starting to get the feeling that Megan didn't want me to be sitting there. It was starting to feel awkward. We decided to talk more while we worked on our assignment, and I noticed Megan slowly getting more and more talkative. I knew we could make her comfortable. We all were starting to get along really well actually. We ended up realizing that we had quite a bit of things in common. Jack then offered to give them phone numbers, and every swapped numbers. Well, really Jack, Zack, Rian and I got Kayla and Megan's numbers and they got ours but whatever.

"So we're going to be hanging after school just you know doing whatever, us 4 boys. You guys want to join us?" Jack asks them. He was definitely thinking ahead of me. Jack and I had been planning ways to get to know them for so long, and to think all we had to do was just talk to them really gets me. I can't believe it was that simple. Expecting Kayla to respond, I saw different.

"Sure. I'll have to ask my mom though." Megan answers. "She's not exactly cool with me just going anywhere without at least telling her." Wow. I was not expecting Megan to just openly speak. This entire time we had been sitting here, she only spoke when we were talking to her directly. Sure that question was for her to answer, but it wasn't direct towards her. Already I could see this look in her face that she felt happy to be by us. It was totally opposite to her expression when we first came to sit by her.

"What about Kayla?" Rian asks her.

"Well, it doesn't really matter because I'm staying over at Megan's this weekend, plus I'm going there right after school, so as long as her mom's ok with it then I'll be there too." She answers. Sounds like it makes sense.

"Yeah what she said." Megan laughs. That made everyone else laugh, even me. I then got this happy feeling. She had the most beautiful smile I had ever seen. I was extremely shocked that we got her to get comfortable so quickly. I watched as she got her phone out and began to text her mom. I noticed that she was trying to hide it from not only the teacher, but also it looked like she was trying to hide it from me. Not that I meant to be nosy, but it seemed like she was texting something she didn't want me to see. She then shut her phone in what I would assume was when she started to wait for a response. We continued to talk while we waited for her mom to respond. I ended up learning that Megan was into music just like Jack, Zack, Rian and I. Kayla was too, but she wasn't playing instruments. Learning that Megan plays guitar made me feel like I was going to enjoy having her around. She covered most of the same stuff that we covered as a band. She was going to be the perfect friend. I could see it. I wanted her to be more than that, but I can't jump the gun. Her phone then vibrates, and she begins to text back. I was hoping her mom would say yes, because I really wanted to get to know her more.

"She's totally cool with it as long as we're home by 6 for dinner." Megan tells us. Sweet! I was extremely excited to hang out now. More than I have ever been before.

"Cool. We'll drive you guys." Jack says. I always have been the one to drive all of us to school, and now I had a feeling that Megan and Kayla were about to be added to our clique.

"Awesome." Megan says. We all sat there quietly for a couple seconds and then Megan asks, "So, how you doing Zack?" So really, she's not nearly as shy as Zack is. He hadn't said a word the entire time we sat here when a few minutes ago he was talking when it was just the 4 of us. I stared at him waiting for him to answer.

"Oh... I'm fine. Thanks." He answered very awkwardly. I could he was just shy because he wasn't used to Megan or Kayla. I knew that it would eventually pass.

"That's good." She answers. The day went on and after 6th period I hurried to the spot where we all meet up in the student parking lot because I couldn't wait to see Megan and start hanging out with her. When we all were met up, we walked to my car and started driving to my house. The car ride was pretty quick, and when we got to my house we walked in and the first thing I notice is that my parents were sitting on the couch and they turned around when we walked in.
