Lullabies
Chapter 20
I then picked her up and carried her to the car. When we got to the car, I handed her over to Jack since I had to drive so he could help her get in the car. Once everyone was in the car, I headed to the hospital. It was really hard to drive while listening to her moan in pain. I began to drive nervously, but did everything I could to drive safely. I felt like I was in a rush. Everyone was trying to help her feel better the entire drive, and I felt terrible because I couldn't be part in it. We got there pretty quick as the hospital is only a few minutes away, though I'm sure it felt like forever for Megan. We all helped her out of the car and I carried her into the hospital where the nurses took her to a room to have the baby. We were there for a couple hours since it was still visiting hours. I felt extremely bad watching her in pain knowing I couldn't do anything. It was 9 pm and visiting hours were over. I really didn't want to leave her all alone, but I didn't have a choice.
"Well, I will come here as soon as school is over tomorrow and be here for the birth if you want. Hopefully she doesn't beat me to that and lets me make it to the birth." I say. "I love you." They had been saying that Megan wasn't dilated enough to have the baby. Whatever that means.
"I love you too." She responds. I then swing in and give her a couple kisses and then we left. I went and took everyone home, and then I headed home. When I had walked in, my parents were waiting for me.
"So, what did they say?" My dad asks.
"Well, they said that she wasn't dilated enough so we have to wait a little longer for her to be born I guess." I say to them. I still had no idea what that meant, but oh well.
"Aww, well I'm sure it won't be too long." My mom says. "You should go get some rest. Maybe it'll make time go faster." She knew how excited I was for the baby to be born. I then went upstairs and went straight to sleep. I was really worried about her. I really hoped that she was ok. I got up and went to school. The day went so slow, I really just couldn't wait to be with Megan. It was weird not having her at school. As soon as I got out of school, I drove Kayla and the guys home and headed straight to the hospital. Around 3 I was walking into Megan's room.
"Hey baby. How you doing?" I ask her giving her a kiss as usual. She was in so much pain she couldn't even kiss me back. Poor girl.
"Terrible. I'm in so much pain and they just checked me before you got here and they said I still have quite a while." She tells me. Geez, still? That's crazy. I guess I really don't understand this stuff. "I've been in labor for 20 hours! Can you believe that?!" That is a long time. It was going by somewhat fast for me but I'm sure it wasn't for her. Then she yelled out.
