“Come on!” Mackenzie yelled
I rushed into the room and she was laying in the fetal position on the floor.
“Mackenzie what the fuck are you doing?” I asked
“I can’t get the damn thing closed.” She moaned
“Get up.” I said
She just laid there, I walked over and pulled on her arm; she just went limp
“God damn it!” I squealed
She looked at me and I yanked her up.
“Ouch.” She whined
“I’ll help you.” I said
She looked at me and I walked over and got her dress, she stepped into and I started doing to clasps and the corset lacing.
“What was so hard about that?” I asked
“I look fat.” She whined
“You’re pregnant. Mackenzie you can’t tell in this dress. You look wonderful.” I said
She smiled and I wiped her tears from her cheek.
“Ready to get married?” I asked
She nodded and I hugged her
“You look perfect.” She said
“No, no. You look perfect, let’s get you married before you have a nervous breakdown.” I smiled
She smiled and her dad came in and we walked down the aisle, during the ceremony Alex kept making faces at me from his seat in the audience. I smiled at him and tried to tune into my best friend’s wedding, when the ceremony was over the reception started and it was a blast.
It’s been a month since the wedding which means Mackenzie and Jack are finally on their honeymoon in Jamaica, I told them they had to bring me something back. While they are away Nightmare is staying with Alex and I who now live together in his apartment. We are currently getting ready for a small party at Zach’s house. I walked into the living room of our apartment in a pair of shorts and a sports bra to see Alex sitting on the couch with Nightmare by his side.
“Hey babe?” I asked
He looked up at me and smiled
“Is it hot in here or is it just you?” He smiled
I smiled feeling my cheeks heat up.
“Whatcha need sweet thang?” He asked
“I don’t even remember.” I laughed
He winked, and I walked over to him and sat in his lap, he stopped petting the cat and wrapped his arms around me.
“So have you heard from Kenz?” He asked
“She sent me a picture of the beach down there, it’s beautiful.” I said
“I bet.” He smiled
I kissed him softly on the lips and tried to stand up but he wouldn’t let me,
“I have to get ready.” I pouted
“No you don’t.” He smiled
“Do you want me to go in this?” I asked
“No, this is for me only.” He smiled
I laughed and got off of his lap.
“You need to get ready too mister.” I smiled
“I know.” He laughed
I walked into the bathroom with my stuff and got ready for the party. I pulled on a dress that I bought a few days ago, I put in my earrings and slipped a new ring onto my left middle finger. I played with the necklace I never took off, it was a crescent moon with I think the earth attached to it. Alex loves space, he bought it for me a while ago but I never take it off. I slipped my feet into my sliver heels and stood over the sink and brushed my teeth quickly, I ran out to the kitchen so Alex wouldn’t see me and put food down for the animals. When Alex came out of the bedroom ready to go, he had on his usual busted up combat boots, a pair of blue skinny jeans, a grey v-neck shirt, his favorite leather jacket, and to top off the look a black beanie.
“You look… Wow.” He said
“Good reaction?” I asked
He nodded
“No beanie?” He asked
“Not today.” I smiled
He smiled at me and took my hand, even with me wearing heels he was still taller than me. I closed and locked the front door and we walked hand in hand down to the parking garage.
“Still wearing that necklace?” He asked
“Of course, someone very special gave it to me.” I said
Alex and I have been dating for almost six months, it was exciting for me. He tells me he loves me all of the time and I can’t get myself to say it back, that’s like the ultimate opening up. I live with him for Christ sakes but I can’t tell the man I love him.
“I gave it to the woman I love.” He smiled
We got into his car and we drove to the party, on the way there traffic wasn’t bad but it wasn’t good. We pulled into Zach’s driveway and it was packed with cars.
“Holy shit.” I said
“You going to be okay?” I asked
“Yeah, I’ll be okay. Unless I lose you and can’t find someone I know.” I smiled
“There are going to be a shit ton of people you know here.” He said
I nodded and we got out, he took my hand and locked his SUV. We walked into the house hand in hand and Zach was waiting
“It’s good to see you two.” He smiled
I wrapped my arms around his muscular figure and he smiled
“There are drinks in the kitchen.” Zach smiled before walking away
“Want something?” Alex asked
“Yes please.” I said
“Mingle, I’ll find you.” He said
I nodded and we went our separate ways, the atmosphere around me was fun and smelly, it smelt of sweaty drunk people. Zach really knew how to host a party.
As I was waiting on Alex to come back with our drinks I bumped into Jaime from Pierce the Veil, we had a little talk about how he was doing and all that jazz. When he walked away I felt a familiar yet unpleasant being behind me.
“Aye cutie, nice to see you here.” The voice said
I didn’t even need to turn around to realize that the voice belonged to Mike Fuentes
“What?” I asked
“You here to party?” He asked
“Why else would I be at a party?” I asked
He laughed, I could smell the weed on him.
“Maybe if you smoked something with me you’d loosen up a bit. You’re too tense.” He said rubbing my shoulders
“I don’t think I want to do anything with you.” I said
“Why not? You’re hot, I’m hot. We’re both here. I’m single-ish, you’re single. I just want to mingle with you under the sheets.” He said
“Does that line usually work for you?” I asked
He just looked at me
“Oh and you haven’t heard?” I asked
“Heard what?” He asked
“Do you not converse with your brother?” I asked
He just looked at me
“I’m not single Michael, and even if I were I would definitely not ‘Mingle under the sheets with you’.” I said air quoting with my hands
“Who’s your boyfriend?” He asked
“He’s coming over here.” I said pointed at Alex
“I only see Alex.” He said
I wanted to facepalm.
“There you are, here’s your beer.” Alex said kissing my cheek
Mike apparently got the hint and walked away
“Was he giving you trouble?” Alex asked
“Isn’t he always?” I laughed
The party was perfect, I met up with Vic and Kellin and they wondered why they hadn’t seen me at my old apartment. I forgot that I hadn’t told them I moved in with Alex, they were happy for me. Tony was there and we dance a little bit, Mike was death glaring every single person I danced with even if they were female. If he didn’t creep me out as much as he did I might have danced with him but he used ‘mingle in the sheets’ towards me. As everyone was getting plastered Alex and I decided to leave and go home, Zach was okay with it.
“Do you want to watch a movie?” Alex asked as we laid in bed
It was late
“Sure. What movie?” I asked
He smiled and made me cover my eyes with the pillow as he typed it into Netflix. As soon as it started I knew what it was.
“How did you know?” I asked moving the pillow
“Your dad and I had a conversation.” He said
“About the movies I watched once a day as a preteen?” I asked
He nodded, the movie was ANTZ; you know the one about the worker ant who falls for the Princess ant.
“I’ve only seen this once. What were you five when this came out?” He smiled
“I’m only twenty-four Lex. This movie came out in 1998 so I was nine.” I said
“You were nine, I was eleven.” He said
“And you’ve only seen this once?” I asked
He nodded
“I own this on VHS.” I said
“I know, you also have A Bugs Life.” He said
“I was a weird kid.” I smiled
We cuddled up and enjoyed the movie, as the movie ended I was surprised that he was still awake,
“So?” I asked
“It was alright, little off and creepy.” He said
“Is that because they’re talking ants?” I asked
“Might be one reason.” He said
“What else did you and my dad converse about?” I asked
“Lots of things.” He said
“Like?” I asked
“Mostly your life before we met.” He said
“That could be a whole lot of things.” He said
“Well a lot of it you told me, he told me about the you and Kenz aspect of your life.” He said
I nodded and he smiled at me.
“Would you like to go to Jack’s house with me?” He asked
“When?” I asked
“Next month maybe?” He asked
“In Baltimore?” I asked
“Yeah, we’ll be staying with my mom but we’ll be going with him.” He said
“Sure.” I smiled
“I think you’ll love her, I know she’ll love you.” He said
“Will she love me because I’m making you happy?” I asked
“That might be one reason, but she’ll love your personality and the way your treat other people.” He said
“Okay.” I said
We cuddled up under the warm blanket, he kissed my exposed shoulder and I smiled.
“I love you Ry.” He said
I smiled and he snuggled into my shoulder
“Hey Lex.” I said
“Yeah?” He asked
“I love you too.” I said
I was shocked! I was so shocked! I said it! It rolled off my tongue like I was meant to say it.
“I love you too.” I smiled
