Deutschland

I walk down the foreign German street, the guys and I had a show last night and don't have anything else to do for a week. We originally planned to go to England and hang out around London for a bit, but we decided to spend an extra few nights in Germany. Vinny and Alex have been liking the beer and Jack likes all the big-breasted blondes. I figured I might as well take the opportunity to go out and do some photography. I haven't whipped out my camera in a while and I need to clear my head. Touring is great and all but I miss home and my parents, family. The feeling of security of living in your own house. The bustle of people around me is almost overwhelming but it's appealing to be able to walk around and not be recognized. Though I am wearing a jacket and glasses that hide my face, I'm not the bulkiest person here either. Maybe it's a German thing. Eating a lot of protein. Meats and shit getting all the guys here super bulky. Maybe that's why I like Germany so much. Maybe it's also the smell of fresh baked goods that are just the classic homey smell. Mixed with the smell of cigarettes like my grandpa. My eyes wander to a fountain in the middle of the wide sidewalk where a girl sits cross-legged bent over a book. Her hair falls around her blocking my view of her face.
The first things I notice about her features is her narrow body and hair that is blonde at the top but the tips are jet black. She wears dark blue skinny jeans and a light grey sweater that falls down over one of her shoulders. I pull the camera up and rest it against my cheek so I look through the view-finder. I press down on the button carefully when a small click sounds and the image of the girl shows on the screen. Perfect. I look up at her again to see her staring at me wide eyed. Shit. I forgot about the flash.
I start to walk over to wear she sits, her eyes remain on me as I do.
"Hello?" She stands once I get close enough, "may I ask who you are?"
"Yeah, sorry. I couldn't help myself... You're uh... Well photogenic." I studded for words unused to being in a situation like this.
"Thanks..." She laughs and pushes her hair back, "You're American then?" Her eyebrow raises, her face is rounded and uneven. Her lips slightly too large for her jaw and her nose just a little too long. Yet she's still attractive.
"Yeah. My names Zack." I smile at her and hold a hand out to her,
"Andy." She smiles and takes my hand shaking it lightly. Come on Zack, I can flirt.
"That's a unique name." I carefully lower my camera down to my chest letting it hang by its strap.
"Thanks, I don't know where it came from." She looks down and bites her lip,
"Do you think I could grab something to eat with you? Make up for the awkwardness of just taking your photo?" Come on Zack... I watch her carefully as her cheeks turn pink,
"Yeah sure. Just let me pack up my stuff. Just... Where?" She lets out a small giggle that's slightly uncomfortable before turning around and picking up her book.
"I don't know. Do you know the area?" She shrugs and slides her book into a bag that's decorated as a patchwork of what looks like t-shirts. One clearly says 'north Dakota' on it, another 'a day to remember'. Good to know she might have a good taste in music. She kinda looked like the kind of girl to listen to one direction.
"Well, despite the American accent. I am a German citizen and yes I do know my way around. Just a little." She licks her bottom lip and shoulders her bag before stepping around me and starting down the street confidently.
"A German citizen?" Shit Zack. Of course you hit on the German girl. I guess I could rock it like Jack, one night stand. Maybe it'll just take two nights, I don't know.
"Yeah, my moms side of the family is all German." She shrugs as she walks "coffee? Ice cream?"
"Ice cream would be good." I catch up to her, surprised with myself finding that I had just been standing there watching her walk for a moment,
"So Zack, You're a photographer?" She raises an eyebrow at me as we walk,
"Well, uhm..." I studded for words. I don't want her to get all weird because I'm in a successful band. If that's what all time low is. She turns to look at me and raises an eyebrow expectantly, "well I guess you could say I'm an artist. I don't just do photography."
"What else do you do then?" She steers me into a little corner cafe that looks kind of dingy not somewhere that I or any tourist for that matter would go into.
"I'm a musician, I have an album out. It's doing alright. It's really just a band with a few of my high school friends." Truthful, but broad. Open ended.
"That's cool." She smiles and walks up to the counter, "I used to sing in some community theatre musicals back home in Minnesota." She turns away from me and says something in German to the woman behind the counter.
"Let me pay." I put a hand on her shoulder, she turns to face me shaking my hand off quickly. "Sorry" I mutter before stepping back. Her expression changed dramatically from the touch.
"That's ten euro." She says dryly, I pull out a ten euro and hand it to her, she hands the money to the lady and steps back with a small number in her hand, "should we sit then?"

Oh no! Why did you stop this? I started to read this solely because it takes place in Germany. And it's really good. I wanna know what's going to happen so badly! Please continue (:
