Thrive - Side 2

A Milestone to Behold

When Abby posted the photo she took of Scarlett, she tagged me and l loved the entire post. Turns out, the post was a huge hit on social media which was a definite bonus to the day.

Can’t believe our pumpkin is a month old already! We love you so much, Scarlett!

Valentine’s Day, aka one of my favorite holidays, has passed and what’s even worse is that even if I was home, we wouldn’t have been able to properly celebrate. Fortunately, just a couple of days after I arrive home, that’ll be an option. Come dinner time, Abby
FaceTimed me.

“Hey babe.” I answered.

“Hey.” she said smiling.

“Someone’s in a good mood.”

“A great one.”

“You have any plans today?”

“Well, I’m gonna call my mom. She wasn’t feeling too good yesterday.”

“Weren’t you going to go dress shopping with her?”

“Yeah. Supposed to be today. Maybe within a week if she still feels like crap. Can you believe it? I know it’s gonna sound cheesy and probably ridiculous, but she’s finally getting her happily ever after.”

“Abby, it’s sweet. Things for her have been tough just like you and she deserves it. You have yours and she’s receiving hers.”

She kept on smiling and blushed.

“You’re too much. It makes me miss that you weren’t here for Valentine’s Day although we wouldn’t have been able to properly celebrate if you know what I mean.”

“I do and we can't when we get back either. It's gonna be a couple days."

"Yeah. I'm gonna have difficulty not jumping your bones."

I laughed.

“We’ll make do. We’ve been through worse.”

She laughed too.

“That’s true. Wanna make plans now for when we can?”

“Absolutely, if you want to.”

“Who’s gonna babysit Scarlett? My mom and stepdad? That’s just gonna seem awkward knowing what our night’s gonna be like.”

“I’m sure they’ll already know what are plans will be and what better people to take care of her? There is Miranda, but she has her hands full with Luca.”

She sighed.

“Let’s talk more about this later.”

“Ok, babe.”

We had plenty of time for this conversation. I’d be home in a week and only two days later, we can have a baby free evening. We spoke for ten more minutes before she hung up.

“I saw Abby’s post. Pretty damn cute kid you got there.” Jack said five minutes later.

I smiled.

“Thanks. I think you know her.”

He laughed, nearly choking on his sandwich.

“This may be a stupid question, but how much are you missing them right now?”

“More than I ever have.”

I wanted to be there even more.
