Sanctuary - Side 2

I Don't Know What I'd Do Without You

Another week passed and I was back in the studio with my brothers and things seemed to be getting back to normal. Abby was beginning to feel better and like herself, but I knew it would be a long road till that happened. Tonight, she’s getting together with her friends and is excited seeing how busy everyone’s work schedule is; this was something I knew that she needed. It would also be the first night without her next to me, so she did worry about that. After what happened that night, she was thankful that I was there every night she came home from work; I had a feeling she needed me there to protect her, and as much as I love her, it was worrisome how scared she was about being alone.

“Have fun, tonight.” I said to her before she left.

“I will.” she said with a weak smile.

I was worrying already.

“I love you.”

“I love you, too.”

We kissed and she hugged me then walked to her car. With a heavy heart, I went inside once she was out of sight.

Please be okay.

I spent the night binge-watching my favorite show; I was sober and ready to leave if she needed me. My phone vibrated as I walked to the kitchen and had a feeling it was Abby.

I miss you.

I texted her back immediately.

I miss you, too. You want me to come get you?

No. I’ll be fine. I just miss you.

I was somewhat relieved. The following morning, she was not home and I assumed she made it through the night. When I was showering, I heard the bathroom door open.

“Hey.” she greeted.

“Hey, Abby. Did you have fun last night?”

“Lots, but now I'm glad to be home.”

“Planning on a shower?”

“Oh, hell yeah.”

“Well, come join me. I just got in.”

She stripped and I saw her walk in with a huge smile. I kissed her and wrapped my arms around her waist while she wrapped her arms around my neck.

“I missed you.” she said.

“I missed you, too.”

She buried her face into my neck while I gave her ass a slight squeeze. Then, my hand traveled down her leg and she moaned almost immediately.

“That feels so good.” she said softly.

“It does?”

“Yes.”

“Well, let me know if something’s not right. Ok? I don't wanna do anything you’re not ready for.”

“Ok.” she said, smiling up at me.

I squeezed the other cheek and moved a hand down to her vagina and began rubbing her.

“Alex.” she said, digging her nails into my skin.

“Yeah?”

“Fuck me.”

Certainly.

I picked her up and she wound her legs around my waist. I backed her against the wall and began thrusting in and out. We were kissing heavily when she made the decision to bite my lip. I groaned and kept a tighter hold on her.

“No.” she said.

“What’s wrong?”

What did I do?

“Don’t hold onto me so tightly.”

I should’ve known better.

“I’m sorry.”

“It’s okay. Don’t worry about it.”

“Want me to continue?”

“Absolutely.”

I loosened up and continued making love to her.

“Better?”

“So much.”

Seconds later, we were both close.

“I’m almost there.” she said biting my neck.

Fuck.

I love it when she bites during sex and she feels the same way when I do that to her. Once I had nothing left in me, I pulled out and set her carefully on the ground.

“Thank you. I missed that and didn’t realize how much I needed that.” she expressed.

“Thank you. I needed that too.”

After taking a shower, we dressed and dried our hair. Abby fell back onto the bed and I proceeded to crawl onto the bed beside her; this caused her to laugh.

“What?” I asked, laughing.

“The bed moved.”

“You are so weird.”

She laughed even more.

“I love you, you weirdo.”

“I love you, too.”

This is when I tickled her which caused another eruption of laughter. I pulled her on top of me and she relaxed into me.

“This is nice.” I said.

“You can say that again.”

There was a pause followed by her inhaling my cologne.

“You smell so fucking good.”

I laughed again.

“So do you.”

“You smell better.” she said, running a hand through my hair and looking up at me.

“You wanna go out for brunch and maybe even dinner?”

Was that asking too much?

“Both sound good.”

“Good.” I said, smiling up at her.

We went to breakfast at the first place we ever ate that meal at, but it's also the place where people ask me for an autograph or photograph from time to time. Some of these people have been jealous of Abby which humors both of us, but it is especially irritating to her from time to time. This happened to be one of those times and I saw her shake her head.

“How do you deal with people like that?”

“I’m simply used to it. Nothing's gonna change my mind on who I love.”

“Seeing people jealous because of me which was unheard of until I met you. Is it bad that I take joy in it?”

“No. I actually like it.”

She faintly smiled.

“How’s your breakfast?” I asked after we got our food.

“Delicious. Yours?”

We each ordered the same dish we had when we first ate here aka our first date; I had a western omelet while she had pigs in a blanket.

“Remember how frazzled you were? You worried so much about what you were wearing although we were only out for breakfast. It was adorable.”

“I couldn't help it. I was still in disbelief that you agreed to a third date with me.”

“Why?”

“Because you were/are the lead singer of my favorite band and I was simply a person who had been struggling all of my life.”

“And I never said that it even mattered to me."

She blushed.

"You're too much."

I laughed.

When we were done eating, we headed back home for a long nap. She and I each had a late night, so if we were to go out for dinner, a nap was necessary.

"You know, I'm so glad that my hair is easily fixable." she said, looking in the mirror.

I came from behind and messed up her hair even more; I just couldn't help myself.

"Stop." she said, swatting away my hands.

In retaliation, she did the same to my hair.

"Hey!" I protested.

She laughed like a fiend.

"It's only fair."

I shook my head.

I let Abby know in advance what kind of place we were eating at, so she could pick the proper dress to wear. While she was getting ready, I waited in the living room thinking about a certain question I wanted to ask her; perhaps, it might be the most question I will ever ask her. The sound of her walking down the hall evaded me, but when I heard her beautiful voice, I focused on her instead of the television.

"Hey." she said.

"H-hey." I said, speechless.

She was breathtaking.

"Stunning. Beautiful."

Those were just a few of several adjectives I could use to describe her.

"Exactly the response I wanted." she said, wrapping her arms around my neck.

"It's the one you deserve." I said after we kissed.

"Well, I'm ready if you're ready."

"I am."

"Let's go, handsome."

I smiled and took her hand. I never told where we were going; it was where we had our first date, and also, her new place of employment. When we pulled into the parking lot, I could see the incredulous look on her face.

"What do you think?"

"I think it's absolutely perfect."

Being chivalrous as all men should be, I opened her door and closed it once she was out of the car.

"What made you think of eating here?"

"It's where we went on our first date, and now, you work here, so I thought it'd be special."

"It is."

"Do you remember what you had on our first date?" I said, once we were seated.

"I had the chicken parmigiana and you had the filet mignon. I've prepared both dishes in the past week of working here, actually."

She was so proud of herself that she was beaming and that light was nearly blinding. After dinner, it was imperative that we order dessert for more than one reason. Our waitress was someone Abby worked with and knew well, so I hoped that she wouldn't notice a certain look that she was giving me.

"Dessert?" I asked.

"Cannoli for me and tiramisu for you."

I nodded.

"Wanna split?"

"Of course."

After we ordered, she excused herself to the restroom and I prepared myself for the biggest question. When she came back, I was getting out of my chair and onto one knee. She was so speechless that she covered her mouth with her right hand.

“Abby Marie Shaw, I never expected to meet someone so strong and with so much spirit in my life despite all the struggles in your life. I love and admire you more than you’ll ever know and I can’t imagine a life without you. Will you marry me?”

With tears in her eyes, she nodded and managed to squeak out a yes.

“Yes. Of course, I’ll marry you.”

I smiled and came up to kiss her. She kissed me back with as much passion as she ever has. I’m engaged. I’m finally engaged to the woman of my dreams.
