Sanctuary - Side 2

A Huge Rift

It’s a new year and a month closer till Abby and I’s wedding. We’re so close to sending out invitations, but our relationship has become strained. It wouldn’t be like this if things with her mom didn’t go off the rails like they did two weeks ago. Last week, Abby decided that she actually wants to mend things with her because she honestly think she’s sorry for how that all went down, but I'm a whole other story. I'm not ready to forgive her if I'm gonna forgive her at all. She crossed a line that she can never uncross and I don't understand why Abby wants to forgive her this quickly or at all. We’ve had arguments and fights before, but this one is not like any other and it’s starting to cause a rift between the two of us.

Wanna hang out?

Jack texted me.

Sure.

We made plans with Zack and Rian and headed to the mall. Sometime later, we were in a record store when I saw Abby and her friends walk in, but I wasn’t all that happy to see her and I'm sure the feeling was mutual.

"Will you two just kiss and make up?" Jack asked.

"Did you not hear about what's going on between us?"

"You love her, and this is her mom she wants to forgive aka the only family she had growing up. Just talk to her. It's irritating for all of us if you haven't noticed."

I had noticed, but I couldn't help being angry. He sent a text and I assumed it was to Miranda because she looked at her phone before turning her head to Abby. I grabbed Jack's phone to see what he sent.

Please tell Abby to talk to Alex. I’m so sick of this shit, along with the guys.

Seconds later, his phone vibrated. It was a text from Abby.

No.

Glad we're on the same page for the moment.

"Looks like it's gonna happen very soon." I said sarcastically.

Minutes later, my own phone vibrated.

We need to talk.

"Is that Abby?"

"The one-and-only."

"What'd she say?"

"She wants to talk."

"You two better. I've never seen you happier as you've been with her."

He wasn't wrong. I don't know what I would do without her.

You can say that again. Let’s talk tonight.

I spent so much of that day trying to figure out what I was going to say to her. I came home to an empty house, so I went to the kitchen to find something to eat. I was standing in front of the stove cooking when Abby came home.

“Alex?” she said quietly.

It sounded like she was scared to say anything to me and that wasn't right; she should always feel free to speak her mind. I shut off the stove and turned to her.

“Abby.”

“Can we talk?”

“Give me a minute. I’ll meet you in the living room.”

She nodded and walked out. She sat down on the couch and waited for me and once I sat down. I didn’t know who was going to speak first.

“Why are we talking now?” I asked.

“My friends convinced me that it was time to do so.”

“You have smart friends.”

“Thanks. So do you.”

“Why do you feel the need to forgive your mom? She really hurt you.”

“Because she’s my mom. That’s why. She said one stupid thing.”

“One majorly stupid thing, Abby. It was incredibly insensitive and shouldn’t have even been said. You’re her daughter, for fuck sakes.”

“I know that. You heard my speech after she said that. She’s worth forgiving and I still love her.” she said getting so emotional that she stood up.

“You’re fucking ridiculous. How can you say that?”

“She tried to apologize. Don’t you remember?”

“Of course I do and she triggered your rape and that nightmare you had all at once when she grabbed your arm. Did you forget that?”

I stood up at this point and looked directly at her.

“How could I possibly do that? I think about it every goddamn day and it hurts so much. If I could just talk to her, maybe it would hurt less. Not to mention, she has sacrificed so much for me and I can’t possibly lose her just like I can’t possibly lose you.”

During the last sentence, she had taken hold of my hands and tears threatened to escape.

“Alex?” she asked a few seconds later.

Just say it.

Instead of letting go, I intertwined our fingers and she proceeded to smile.

“This doesn’t mean I’m ever gonna forgive her for what she did to you because I truly don’t know if I can.”

“As long as you try. Can you promise me that?”

“I can promise you that.”

She stood on toes and kissed me. We hadn’t kissed in a week and while it hasn’t been the longest we've gone without kissing, it was still terrible. The electricity that shot through us was undeniable and I didn’t want to let go. I moved my hands to her hips while she wrapped her arms around my neck and kissed me. My hands landed on the small of her back deepening the kiss; sensing this, I lifted her ass and she hooked her legs around my waist.

“I love you.” she said, pulling apart.

“I love you, too.”

“Can we-"

In true fashion, I didn't answer her. Instead, I pressed my lips to hers and took us down the hall and into our bedroom. Neither one of us said a damn thing as we undressed and I gently placed her onto the bed before climbing onto the bed. I was hungry as my lips landed on hers; she took hold of my bottom lip and let go and looked up with a smirk to see my reaction. I responded by moving my lips to her neck before taking a bite, causing her to cry out in pleasure. Another hand lightly traveled down her body and landed on her crotch with a thumb landing on her clit.

“Alex.” she said, leaning her head back.

Seeing her reaction, I began rubbing her in circles.

“Fuck me.”

I just continued without a response. She took a light hold of my hair in hopes I would. A hand slipped downward and a couple fingers traveled inside her and began pumping in and out.

“Please.” she pleaded.

She grabbed my hair tighter.

“I’m begging you.”

I came back up to her and placed myself at her entrance then thrusted myself inside of her.

“Thank you.” she said after a single thrust.

“You’re welcome.”

She laid deep scratches down my back causing me to hiss. Several and I mean, several thrusts later, we came and were breathless.

“I missed you. I missed this.” she said.

It may be crazy, but it was true even though we’ve been sleeping next to one another like usual.

“I missed you more than anything and making love to you like this.”

She teared up as she smiled up at me. I wiped her tears as she kissed me

“Let’s never fight like that again. I honestly don’t know what I’d do without you.”

I touched her face.

“I agree. Life would truly suck without you.”

She buried her face into my chest and I was exactly where I needed to be.
