Catch Me

It’s the weekend and I’m ready to tell my friends all about the conversation I had with Zack that had us saying that we loved each other. They knew how I was feeling prior to speaking to him a few nights ago and backed me saying that I wasn’t crazy for feeling the way that I did. Obviously, I still was hesitant that night, but now I’m wondering why I ever was. I was feeling so good that I decided to get up early and go surf, much to the dismay of my friends who would much rather sleep in and have a late breakfast. I agreed to the late breakfast after I showered when I got home.

“How’d your morning go?” Myra asked at brunch.

“Wonderful. The weather was perfect. It just sucks that you guys hate being up that early. That’s when the waves are at their best.”

“I’m sure Zack would’ve loved to go with you.”

“Yeah.”

We’ve yet to do that actually.

"How is he, by the way? Did ya tell him?" Krissy asked.

"Amazing. That's what I wanted to talk to you guys about, actually."

"Did it go well?"

"It went perfect. Better than I could've imagined. I was in the fridge getting something to eat for dinner three nights ago when he texted and asked if we could talk via FaceTime. I knew something was up right there."

"Yeah. That definitely doesn't sound like him."

"He looked and sounded nervous, so naturally I was worried. Then, he blurted out that he loved me. When I didn't respond right away, he said that he knew it was too early and that he was an idiot. I went ahead and told him I loved him too." I said smiling.

"Oh my God! That is so cute!" Myra cooed.

"Do the guys know?" Krissy asked.

"Well, here's the kicker. After I called them during lunch that day, Alex caught the tail end of our conversation..."

I went on to tell them about what the guys thought and they couldn't believe it.

"Even more reason for you to meet them. They already approve and they haven't even met you yet."

“I can’t wait, but who knows when that’ll even happen.”

“It should happen after this tour’s over. Maybe instead of going home, they can come here for a few days...” Myra suggested.

“Maybe. I love that idea. I really do want to meet them.”

“...and us possibly? We are your friends and we’ve met Zack before...”

“I’ll talk to him about all this. See what he thinks.”

“Let us know as soon as possible.”

“Will do.”

Zack

It’s finally the weekend which my time's not limited when it comes to talking to Riley. Come five-thirty, I decided to call her.

"Hey." she answered.

“Hey. Is now a bad time to talk?”

“Um... well, I’m out with the girls, but uh... oh, they’re telling me it’s fine if I talk to you now.”

“You sure?”

“Yeah. They’re nodding at me right now, actually.”

“Ok. Did ya tell them yet?”

“Yes... and they’re thrilled. Hell, I was feeling so good that I decided to get up early and go surf. Unfortunately, they don’t exactly enjoy getting up early to do anything, so I had to go it alone.”

“That’s a bummer. I definitely would’ve gone with you.”

I want to very badly; I’ve yet to see her in action.

“I would’ve loved that. We did agree on a late breakfast though.” she sighed, saying the latter.

Riley is a person who loves getting up early no matter the day and getting things done and out of the way, so she can enjoy herself; so hearing her sigh tells me that she would’ve much rather had eaten breakfast earlier.

“I miss you.” I said out of the blue.

“I miss you, too.”

Sure, I’ve missed her before, but now that I know I’m in love with her, I miss her even more; well, if that makes any sense.

“Is it crazy that I miss you more than usual?”

“No. Not at all. I feel the same way.”

I walked into the hall and sat against the wall feeling relieved that I wasn’t crazy for feeling that way.

“That’s a relief.”

A couple seconds later, I started to hear sniffling and I was immediately concerned.

“Riley?”

More sniffling.

“What’s wrong?”

“Guess.”

“Baby.”

“I’m such a crybaby. I’m sorry.”

“Please don’t apologize. It’s okay.”

“Well, I’m never one to be this emotional. I don’t like it.”

I laughed slightly.

“Stop laughing.”

“You’re adorable.”

“Shut up, you ass.” she said, starting to laugh.

“I got you to laugh.”

“You’re lucky you can make me laugh or else I would totally be hanging up on you right now.”

“Is that so?"

"Yes." she laughed again.

"You're silly. I love you."

“I love you, too.”

“So, what else are you up to today?”

“Don’t know yet. Probably gonna go back to my apartment and watch movies.”

“Sounds nice.”

“Yeah. Hey. There’s been something on my mind. I actually just talked about it with the girls.”

“What is it?”

“I’m hoping I could meet them after this tour. What are you thoughts?”

“I love that idea. They’ve really been itching to meet you. I will talk to them about it.”

“That’s fantastic.” she said enthusiastically.

If only I could see the look on her face right now.

“Well, I will definitely talk to them."

"As soon as you know, let me know. Ok?"

“I will. I’m gonna let you get back to the girls. Tell them I said hi.”

“Ok. Have a good night.”

“You too.”

“I love you.”

“I love you, too.”

“Bye.”

“Bye.”

And with a smile, I hung up and placed my phone in my pocket as I reached the tour bus. Before I could even open the door, I felt a hand on my shoulder, startling me. I turned around to see Alex.

“Dude. Seriously?” I said in annoyance.

“What crawled up your ass and died?”

“You scared the crap out of me is all.”

I opened the door and walked into the bus with Alex right behind me.

“What’s up?” he asked as I walked toward my bunk.

“I was just talking to Riley. She’s eager to meet you guys.”

“She is?”

“Definitely and it’s adorable.”

“Well, we’re more than ready to meet her.”

I heard more footsteps as we were talking.

“You talking about Riley?” Jack asked.

“Yeah. She wants to meet everyone.”

“I’m totally game for that.”

“Me too.” Rian added.

Oh, how I couldn’t wait to tell Riley all about this.
