Don't Be So Sentimental, This Love Was Accidental
Couples Day
Lillie’s POV
When I wake up, Jack is still snoring beside me. I honestly don’t know where I stand with him or with Alex. I check my phone and it’s already ten thirty. I can’t fathom how Jack can still be fast asleep so late, but he is. I pull on a long Greenday t-shirt and head downstairs in just the shirt and my underwear. Very classy. Alex is already downstairs and dressed, shoes and everything. His hair is perfectly messy, as usual, and he looks really good.
“Going somewhere?” I ask, approaching the refrigerator casually as if I’ve lived here my entire life. I must look a wreck, half dressed, no makeup, and my red hair thrown into the same ponytail I’d worn to sleep. But I don’t care. It’s just Alex, after all.
“I can see you’re not.” Alex says, looking me over. “How are you and Jack?” I’m shocked by his forwardness. I hadn’t even eaten breakfast yet and he’s already questioning my relationship.
“We’re good. Great, actually. Jack’s a great guy.” I don’t know what else to say. Jack is a great guy, but Alex is something like the guy of my dreams. “How’s Caitlyn?”
“Really good.” Alex says blandly, not caring to elaborate any further. “I was supposed to meet her this morning, but she canceled last minute. Said she had family stuff.” I don’t know how I feel about Caitlyn, but I have a gut feeling it wasn’t family stuff she had to deal with.
“Poor Alex Gaskarth,” I tease, “All dressed up and nowhere to go.” I now have peanut butter and a spoon and I’m calling it breakfast. I sit down on the couch and Alex follows.
“I’d take you out somewhere, if you’d put some pants on.” Alex says. I look down at my naked legs. My confidence in my own body was beyond me. I saw girls who made me look like the before picture of a “Biggest Loser” competitor on a daily basis. But Alex seeing my bare legs didn’t faze me one bit.
“Take me where?” I inquire. Do I really want to go out with Alex? Well, yes, I definitely do, but I’m still not sure where I stand with him. I kissed Alex, Jack kissed me, Alex fucked Caitlyn, I’m unofficially dating Jack, and now Alex is asking me out. And somehow no one is mad at anyone else. It’s mind bottling to me. I know I really like Alex, but I’m not sure I would have kissed Jack in the first place if I didn’t like him, too. Sure, our kisses lacked spark and I was supposedly just using him to get to Alex, but at the end of the day, I thought I might have feelings for Jack just as much as I did for Alex. God I’m a fucking wreck.
“It’s a surprise.” Alex says. I roll my eyes, because I hate surprises, but I go upstairs to get dressed anyways. I change in the bathroom so I can be sure not to wake Jack. I slip on a black tank top and green shorts with black converse shoes. I brush out my hair, grab some sunglasses to cover my tired eyes, and apply some foundation, mascara, and lip gloss before sliding the glasses over my eyes. I hope I look good enough, because Alex looks damn hot as usual and I don’t think he even tries. I notice him look me over as I skip down the stairs.
“Looking good, Lil.” I like it when he calls me Lil. Nicknames are cute. “Ready to go?” I nod and follow Alex out to the car. We don’t talk much, but Alex plays Blink and we sing along the entire way to our surprise destination.
“Are we there yet?” I whine. Alex is smiling and he has a smile that makes me want to just stare at him—looking exactly like he does right now—forever.
“Almost,” Alex replies. I look at our surrounding and I see our destination. There are rows of tall trees between us and the place, but I can spot a drop tower and three enormous roller coasters peeking out above them.
“An amusement park, Alex? That doesn’t seem like your style.” I say. Though it’s certainly my style.
“Actually, it’s exactly my style.” Alex says, pulling into the parking lot. “And I can tell it’s yours, too. Now, let’s go, babe. Couples get in for half price today.”
